Tandems - What do you do up there behind your student?

Personally, I like a little banter from the TM. Not to much but at least act like they're enjoying the jump. Attached are somecrops of TM I videoed. The last one (mug 5) is me. I'm such a newbie. I'm too concerned about checking handles to mug for the camera. steveOrino -
Emphasis mine -- uh, no personal attacks. steveOrino

Chuck: I'd never criticize you, but I think there has got to be a better way to get a vidiot up to speed on exit shots that hanging on to you. If a guy has 500 jumps and wants to jump video, I bet you could teach him when to exit without relying on hanging on. How else will he learn and what may be the results when he tries that on another TM??? steveOrino

Skydiving Web Page Designing
steveorino replied to pacncathyjr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good info but as an artist, I prefer a graphic art look. Basically that is an image that can be sliced up and the slices are used for navigation. Nothing fancy, but something besides text and photos. See my web page for example. -
65 is not cold!

I was born and raised in TX, and lived 7 year in Alaska. Gimme hot any day. Most men will go until they pass out in th eheat, but they will simply lay down and give up in the cold. steveOrino

The fact that she could still fit in it? Yep, THEY said it, not me! And she did fit in it VERY well!!

25th: I played softball (never do that!! - she showed up at the game in her wedding dress and a TV reporter) That sounds like a story....especially if she was IN the TV reporter.... She set me up -- she said I could play (it was a Thursday) and we'd go out on Friday night. Then she called the Channel 6 news in Tulsa and asked if it was newsworthy that a woman would show up at her husband's softball game on her 25th wedding anniversary in her wedding dress. They asked if it was her original wedding dress, and she said yes. They said THAT in itself was enough of a news story. steveOrino

10th: Took her to the finest restaurant in Anchorage, I had the waiter put a 2 carat ring in a dessert plate for her. 25th: I played softball (never do that!! - she showed up at the game in her wedding dress and a TV reporter) 30th: I took her to Cancun on an all inclusive weekat the Omni! Lived like the Kennedys for 7 days! Other anniversaries: Usually a nice present and a nice meal. steveOrino

I've been married to the lovely Sherry for 32+ years. My daughter was married 6 years ago on my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. 6, 32, 56, it all takes work and commitment from both sides. Sherry & I have had our fair share of problems. But I think we long ago decided we'd stick it out despite our extreme differences. Opposites attract, but opposites attack! Our faith in Christ (which is not popular among many skydivers) has given us something bigger than ourselves to hold on to in tough times. One reason I think our marriage is better the last 5 years than the first 25+ is when our kids started leaving the nest (and returning ) I realized our lives had been wrapped up in work and raising kids. My work was losing my interest as fast as our kids were leaving. I decided then we'd have a date night every Friday. We try to keep that date. It may mean saying no to some things I like or Sherry coming to a demo at a football game and going out to eat afterwards, but we try to keep that time special. I love that woman! steveOrino

Quite by accident I hit the white balance button on a cloudy day (Sat). I had been doing tandems and saw the other vidiots' video. It appeared quite dark and shadowy as mine typically does on those type of days. My last jump was a video instead of a tandem. When Igot down I noticed the white balance button was on. Crap! While the inside the plane shots were a little washed out the freefall video was a lot better than expected. In fact it was bright. Can anybody give me more info about this setting? steveOrino

The recomendation is to NEVER have a new Tandem Instructor and a New Video Flyer together. . I can see that point. My video guy has 3900 jumps and many of them video. steveOrino
