  1. I know how to do the conversion from PAL to NTSC, and the other way round, but only with the original files (avi or mpeg), not a complete (encoded) DVD. After that you'd have to re-create the menu etc in an NTSC format. I had to do this with the World Team 2004 DVD to get it playable for Americans. Of course you lose a bit of quality when transcoding but haven't had any complaints about that. So, transcoding is possible, but a fait bit of work. Haven't heard of anyone re-encoding a finished DVD, it might be possible but I don't know how to do it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. 2 regular dz's actually http://www.paracentrumtexel.nl/ http://www.bluesideup.nl/ ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. A 120 is way too small for even a small girl to start with. The manufacturere of the Sabre 2 does not recommend this size for you at a student and at a novice stage, only later on. Talk with your instructors please, they may recommend a 150! And even then you need to downsize gradually. Also you don't mention the reserve size in this rig, a very important factor! I wouldn't buy a rig to grow into, a 120 is very small you may not want it, you'll be tempted to jump it too early, you have no clue about what you want yet. FYI - in some European countries nowadays you would need 500 jumps or so AT LEAST before you'd be allowed to jump a canopy that small. Petite girl or not. With 2 jumps you don't have much insight into what you are looking for yet. Why not wait, talk with your instructors a lot, see what kind and what size of canopy you're comfy with first? ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. I think you still need the hardware (cradle) for the pro-track? Haven't heard of anyone bypassing that, although it can't be THAT difficult (un-educated guess here). If you can't buy the cradle separately I'd just buy jumptrack, otherwise I think paralog has a small app for palmOS with just simple data, I think it's free. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. The world team videos are WMP PA download 512, standard premiere pro 1.5 settings. Mostly because I'm having trouble getting a decent quicktime movie. Usually I use Cleaner XL but no time here. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Then you have another problem. I'm running a P4 2.6 with 512 MB RAM and a 5400 rpm drive. I can run Dreamweaver, Premiere, Photoshop and Encore plus copying large files between external harddrives all at the same time without dropping any frames. 5400 rpm is plenty, it's a small hd so it's fast. For a desktop you need 7200 rpm because the drive is physically bigger. Fi you need to keep your drives defragged and not run too many programs at the same time (esp all the ones that start up automatically, Norton is esp bad). ciel bleu, Saskia

    oh yeah

Don't have much time to jump but maybe I can get on the next Alpha Team jump ciel bleu, Saskia

    oh yeah

For the mass demo AFAIK we'll have to wear the tracksuits again. Cameracrew included. Also, with so many people and planes in the air, wingsuits zooming around would be a fairly stupid idea, IMO. Even if you were in the last plane and were last out you will still run into the Thai's big canopies. Weren't you there in 2004? ciel bleu, Saskia

    oh yeah

Definately got level with it, could just see the top. I was slightly uncertain as to where the ramp ended so exited slightly turned and was also a little late getting my 2nd gripper, so I wobbled a tiny bit, still got plenty of lift though

  12. fixed it for you ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Perhaps, but still not handling it well on a hot day in Elsinore. Trouble is you can't change canopies on the fly and see how another one handles the same situation. It takes time to get an idea for normal, too. I just don't like sudden dives or climbs, esp dives to the left or right as I'm coming in on final. Maybe the canopy is really out of trim or has very porous fabric, you load it very lightly, you're flying in brakes, whatever. But there's a reason crew canopies are 7 cells ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. You still need permission from whoever has the rights to the video. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. If it's on its first lineset it probably needs new lines by now. The rest depends on the way it was treated and where it was jumped and packed, it may be fine it may not be. Why not have a rigger look at it before you buy? Or maybe wait altogether before you buy this rig as it's too small for you now anyway... Maybe you won't even like a 150. What do your instructors say? ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. If the main is too small for you, how about the reserve? You don't mention the model and size of the most important part of the rig.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. I'd add: No 8: Lesson: PULL!! Reading the manual will help but if she had just pulled there wouldn't have been a problem in the first place of course. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Nobody PLANS a low turn, but they may end up having to make one or THINK they have to make one anyway due to unexpected traffic, unexpected obstacles, wanting to land into the wind, get-back-itis, mis perception, ... With 200 jumps, are you 200% SURE you can do a low turn safely, ie flat turn/flare turn? Also in an unexpected situation? If you make a mistake on a canopy like that, see ya.... There's a reason that over here (The Netherlands) you are required to have at least 500 jumps and be current to jump a canopy like that. Other countries have similar rules. Think you know better? Also, if you do not plan on swooping, what are you doing on a canopy and a WL like that anyway? This canopy is capable of diving to the ground in a hurry and picking up loads of speed. If you don't swoop you probably have no clue how to deal with both if it happens to you unexpectedly. Result: ouch, at the very least. My personal pet peeve ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Huh got taken in by a marketing speech My notes from the seminar say: "we chose a low aspect ratio, because of less drag". But it has about the same AR as a vengeance, katana etc. Should've checked ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. So the cameraguys I know that walked up to the plane without a rig, or forgot their goggles, or pulled too low (ehm that was me ) would've been better off with a camera like that? ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. OK add two cells to my Spectre then I mean, it's AR is lower than most HP canopies. They didn't go for a high AR at all, because, according to Aerodyne, they wanted less drag. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Funny thing is, that the Mamba is NOT a high aspect ratio canopy at all. I attended a seminar by Aerodyne about the Mamba Don't recall the numbers but it almost looked like a very elliptical and 9cell version of my spectre Still of course it's not a good idea to downsize and go to a more aggressive canopy at the same time. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. We've done some buzzjobs on each other, for instance I tend to pull higher than most of our other wingsuiters, so I got buzzed a time or two. The closest I come to "buzzing" myself is opening in view (and not going straight at em) of a tandem master or high-puller, but that's no closer than 500 ft or so. I also got top-docked a time or two, by experienced crw people. I don't mind, even if it's low and/or not pre-planned, because I know and trust these people. If you buzz or topdock me and I don't know you, I'm going to be very pissed. So, for me it totally depends on the person. I'm cool with proximity flying (freefall or canopy), opening close together, endcell bumping or docking, but only with regulars Ok so I'm crazy sometimes. Our 3ways with vengeances sorta cinched that I guess Just don't let go of me at 800 ft on the wrong side of the airfield again ciel bleu, Saskia
