  1. Wow, they even try to play the racism card back at you! They're really getting bolder and bolder. Just ignore him Vale Actually, he has a point. Although in this case he definately IS a scammer I have had a few people not want to deal with me because I'm from overseas, period. Okay I'll admit it we're all scammers over here. You stupid americanos are all the same! ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. It's not always a control line... If I had started cutting a at my lines it would've been pretty expensive and probably an interesting ride too And you need to know WHICH line to cut, not that easy. Look up a thread by Hooknswoop about an intentional lineover... ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Bruno explains how it workes, that said, all the atoms with double sided rsl system (LOR system) that I've seen excluding maybe one or two, have had their rsl modified to a single side rsl. I have 2 atoms, one without rsl one with a modified single side. The mod was done before I bought it. I like the 9shaped pin a lot, the angle for the rsl makes more sense to me. No kinks in your ripcord cable for sure! Although the first time I was pulling my reserve I had to THINK to quit pulling on the ripcord - the reserve was flying already - as I couldn't pull it completely out of the housing due to the 9shaped pin blocking the housing entry At least this way it's harder to drop your ripcord With this setup you can't completely remove the rsl without buying a new ripcord, so mine is just disconnected and neatly tucked away because I do mostly camera jumps. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Here in The Netherlands your main has to be packed within the last 6 months if you're gonna jump it. Guess there's a good reason for that ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. LOL didn't read the thread far enough ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. At the World Games in Germany last year people had to pay to see the skydivers land, there was one big stand for the entire landingfield: accuracy, swoop (the swoopcourse was a loooong way off ), and the freefallers. Wasn't THAT busy, also had something to do with the amount of tickets available, but yeah, people did pay. No clue how much though. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. A video DVD that was made on a pc is totally different from a video DVD that was made on a standalone dvd recorder. Some software WILL let you work with the same file system as the standalone burners use, however because of the different makes and models and stuff this doesn't always work. It's worth a try though IMO. You need a program that can edit DVD-Video (VR), f.i. Nero can do it (Nero Vision 4). ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Hmm forgot to put that on the flyer. I prefer you register with Henny: henny@parashoot.nl otherwise I'll forward stuff to him anyway. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I did, however they are 4 different pictures ciel bleu, Saskia

  12. I was taught a lineover can more easily be cleared on a tandem canopy, on a sports rig just cataway, to prevent damage to the canopy and to prevent wasting time, because you're probably not going to clear it anyway. How come on a tandem canopy it is easier to get rid of a lineover? Or is it? ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. For spectators, I think any round they can have instant scoring on is interesting. If you have a big scoring board they can see and you update it either automatically or by hand with help of radios, or just call out the scores on a mike, the spectators feel more involved and have a better grasp of what's going on. We had spactators (wuffo's) call out whether accuracy scores were good or not, cheering for the high scores, as they could see the signs the judges were holding, and they loved it. Otherwise, distance is easiest to grasp, and water crashes in whatever round give the most feedback... Speed isn't so much fun without instant scoring, IMO. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. I do, you guys just have trouble pronouncing it Although usually only ONCE ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Even so, the photographer doesn't have to sell you the original pic if he doesn't want to of course. I have plenty of experience with pictures ending up in magazines or on websites, even on postcards! without the photographers consent and usually without credits too. The only way to avoid that is avoiding digital images floating around. Most fun/weekend camera jumpers I know are pretty forthcoming with pictures - I just like to have my chute pack itself for some pics, or a cup of tea at the bar. But I can totally understand "your" photographer too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. How come every American I meet always calls me that? ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Advice? Just don't answer the scammers anymore ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Although this could be a good idea - however sometimes people would search for "sabre" or "sabre 2", but with the ad listed as a "sabre2" It's even worse: I usually search for "spect" "sab" "veng" "tri" etc because people can't spell! ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. You have to realize that if someone sells you the jpg they will potentially lose all the other income they could've gotten from that pic because you now have the original and can distribute it yourself. The value of such a jpg can be pretty low (regular shots from a tandem jump, AFF jump, FS4, etc) or be very high (world record shot, complete formation at a big boogie, other special shots). I suppose if you are willing to pay a couple thousand dollars you might be able to buy the original jpg The camera flyer puts a lot of work, time and money in, it's his right to make as much money of his/her pics as the market will allow. If you want the whole coffee mug stuff you'll just have to pay for it. If you think it's too expensive, then don't. But don't expect to get the originals of top shots because you aren't willing to spend so much money on it. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. I know there were videotapes made from all disciplines after the European championships/Worldcup at AmpuriaBrava 2002, and probably from the World championships in Gap France 2004 too. Don't know about the last championships or other more recent stuff... Maybe the shop at Ampuria still has some of those tapes, I remember seeing them for sale there years ago. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. The reserve bridle is much wider than a main bridle so it catches more air, and some brands have little pockets on them to catch air too. Also the length of the bridle may be longer than what's used on a ripcord main, depending on the specific gear. That said, the best position for a reserve pilot chute launch is NOT the usual stable belly to earth, but slightly head-up, like you usually are straight after a cutaway, so if you have an RSL/skyhook or are really quick you won't have the time to go belly to earth and you can have a better launch. I'm no rigger, but this is what was explained to me, and after 7 reserve rides I tend to believe it ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Don't get a chest mounted alti. In a sit there is a burble there so it'll give inaccurate readings. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Oh that can take almost a week ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Harddrives are no good in freefall. ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. Not really..... My first nightjump was a tandem at my own dz, with the TM screaming in my ear telling me the location of the airport, still couldn't see it. Totally disoriented and more than half night blind. 2nd jump, I was going to jump a student canopy for fear of not flaring but ended up using my spectre 135 because of the winds. Smart move, even so I ended up 10 km away of the DZ, blown backwards over my chosen landing filed at 1000 ft, and landing in the middle of nowhere with no clue as to where I was. Not all my fault, only 3 out of 10 jumpers landed anywhere NEAR the target, noone landed on the DZ itself. Or, my fault, as it was way too windy (the wind was supposed to let off not pick up that much! It never does.....) Then the year after we were going again, i wanted to do a 3way BM jump, but soon it became a caravan full. Well since we couldn't even do a 16way by day (and half these BM didn't have any or many jumps at our DZ) why try it at night? No thanks. The jump was cancelled later anyway because of bad weather. Haven't jumped at night since then... ciel bleu, Saskia
