Yes it's worth it, if you have a dslr. The faster the camera the more you'll notice the speed difference, it should make a difference on a 350d too. The price difference isn't that much and later camera's will surely benefit so why not buy a fast card now. Most dslr's work best with lexar 80x, sandisk ultraII or sandisk extreme cards. ciel bleu, Saskia

Friend has a question about his new PC109
dragon2 replied to BillyVance's topic in Photography and Video
Li-ion or not, I still see the same effect. With both my laptop batteries and my camcorder batteries. Maybe less pronounced than with other batteries but it's still there. You have to take care of your batteries if you want to keep them in good condition for the longest possible time. ciel bleu, Saskia -
I did a few rodeos as passenger and as accompanying flyer /camera. But I don't make a good horsey, my upper body is very short so my wings get pinched, resulting in spins. So I'll stick to camera: http://www.12000ft.com/video/12.html ciel bleu, Saskia

Also, if you only have 18 jumps, you're a long way off from being able to fly a camera. 200 jumps minimum is recommended, preferably way more, and go have a talk with your local camera guys and gals is also highly recommended. BTW don't for get to search for Nikon too if you're interested in a stills camera ciel bleu, Saskia

If you save the picture and right-click on it you can see for yourself in the properties which settings it was shot at (iso 200 in this case, also f/4.5 so a higher iso wouldn't help here). ciel bleu, Saskia

There's a couple threads about this already: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1973796#1973796 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1947876#1947876 ciel bleu, Saskia

It lists the PC1000 too so this has go to be the same cable. It's weird that our big photography shops don't list these... However Amazon won't ship it outside the USA, so I'll have to find another seller here or get someone to take 2 to Thailand or something. But now at least i know which part number to ask for, thanx! ciel bleu, Saskia

A1 camera, which is a HDV miniDV camera. It's a half roundish plug on the camera side. I can't tell for sure on amazon if it's the same plug as micro-mv camera's apperantly have. ciel bleu, Saskia

Where can I buy an extra Sony AV cable, the one with the new connector to rgb and s-video? I can't even find it on the sony website ciel bleu, Saskia

What program are you using? Check the settings, you're probably pre-rolling the tape or something before recording. ciel bleu, Saskia

New USPA Downsizing Chart proposal
dragon2 replied to BrianSGermain's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We've got a few at our DZ. But you have to be real lightweight to use them, a 143 is the most common size (here at least). Maybe more lightweights need to do CRW? ciel bleu, Saskia -
If I understood J.R.'s post correctly, I think he was implying, accurately IMHO, that if the canopy is large and docile enough, it can be landed safely without a flare, but with a good PLF. It may not be ideal, but it is not terribly dangerous, if the canopy is large and docile enough. I landed a Manta 288 once without flaring. Third jump I think, I was having a little trouble timing the flare (no radio etc). Was still in an "X", legs apart, when I hit the ground standing up - felt it in my ankles - knees - teeth! Oops I had the immensely high WL of 0.45 though so that helped Wasn't hurt at all, except by the smack on the head from the instructor later ciel bleu, Saskia

I had to land my 128 sqft reserve (WL 1.2) that way once, not pretty One endcell didn't inflate AT ALL, so 6 flying cells and one toggle all the way down. I wasn't going to but I flared out of reflex anyway, BAM, hookturned myself into the ground, broke my nose . Shouldn't have flared but even so, I was mostly ok. Definately better off than with the spinning Safire I chopped... ciel bleu, Saskia

USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
dragon2 replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
But with the OTHER Dutch rules, I'm not allowed to jump a Lightning 113 So I have to wear a lot of lead and jump a 126. One of the reasons I quit doing CRW and sold my 126, since I can't get the required WL comfortably. Maybe I'll take it up again after I've got the required 1000 jumps Also "funny": I'm allowed to jump a PD113R, as a reserve. However, I CAN'T try one out as a main, because it's smaller than 120 sqft!?! That's just nuts, IMO. ciel bleu, Saskia -
CRW: my old Pro-Tec, the open ears allow me to hear better FF, wingsuit, FS etc: open face freefly helmet, I tried a Z1 for a few jumps but it made me claustrofobic... Also the visor flipped open in a stand Camera: custom-made fullface I usually jump camera anyway, whatever discipline I'm doing ciel bleu, Saskia

It's a HP canopy. Over here you would only be allowed to fly that canopy (even a 170) when you have at least 500 jumps. I don't think its one of the most hp canopies, but even if your instructors would let you jump it, do you think 44 jumps in 2 yrs is enough for a hp canopy? Why not get a Spectre, Triathlon, Safire, Sabre, Pilot, ... instead? ciel bleu, Saskia
-
I once rode in a canopy too low while fixing a knottish mess of unstowed breaklines, toggles, triple risers and the drawstrings of my slider. I was wearing my camera helmet with just a photo camera with biteswitch. I probably should've chopped but didn't and ended up having to PLF the landing. Turns out I made a couple interesting shots of blurry-grass-at-an-angle while rolling over my shoulder ciel bleu, Saskia

LOL Try doing static line.... Linetwists every 3rd jump at least ciel bleu, Saskia

I think lightweight people will always be at a disadvantage with current rules, however we had the petite French girl Cathy Bouette compete and she didn't do half bad! Pity she touched water the first distance round. She jumps a small Xaos, can't find the exact size now though. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1813757;search_string=results%20swoop%20bussloo;#1813757 ciel bleu, Saskia

punch a hole through the flap or cut off that part of the flap, can't remember what i did with it anymore... ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Oh right, now I get it. Haven't seen that one yet... ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Do you mean it's folded over to create riser blocks? Instead of diving loops? I've got a pair of risers that's folded over to make them shorter so I can reach the slider, but swoopers usually want LONGER risers, right? ciel bleu, Saskia

If i were you I'd post this in the German forum too, might get you more responses
