My daughter has the same beaded curtain in her room. Anyway, my daughter had always gone by Tori short for Victoria until 2 years ago she decided she didn't want to be called Tori anymore and wanted only be called Victoria. As long as it is her name and she doesn't want to legally change it to something completely different, I see no problem with it. http://www.perriscam.com/Images3/dse22209.JPG R

"Ever notice how many people "super size" things" _________________________________________________ Yea and fast food restaurants push the super sizing because they know it's a fact of human nature that if people think they are "getting a more for their money" that they are going to go for it. Sure there are healthy choices at fast food restauants but you don't often see those being advertised. Companies are in business to make money. It's what they do and because of that advertising is very effective. They know how to push all the right buttons to sell you things you don't need and sadly many kids and adults are totally victims of the advertising world. That being said, it's a parents/persons responsibility to make sure our kids aren't victims and they know how to make the right choices and it's not the companies fault if they were successful in doing what they do. I haven't been to a fast food restaurant, except maybe Subway, in 3 years. I'm a vegetarian so it's mostly pointless except for salads and I'd rather just make my own. I know my daughter goes to McDonald's occasionally with her grandmother but she really doesn't like it either. Thank God she's not asking me to take her to McDonald's a couple times a week like most of her friends. R

I usually put up all my decorations Thanksgiving weekend. We usually have two trees. The main one downstairs then one upstairs that my daughter decorates with all her own ornaments that she has been collecting since her first Christmas. The house is like a fairy land. White lights and pine boughs. I make a new wreath every year for my front door. I have tons of decorations and all our friends love to come to our house around the holidays. I'm also usually the one that plans lots of holiday get togethers and activities for our group of friends. This year we are having a cookie exchange and a craft night to make our wreaths. I guess you could say that I am our groups social director. A job I used to have at my old DZ in NC before we moved to Seattle. R

I am very fortunate that my company pays for a membership to a very very nice gym in the area for all it's employees that want it and it's only 20.00 a month to add family members to the membership. My daughter and I go to about 3-4 times a week. I also go to Power Yoga classes at a yoga house and when I'm not up for either of those but still want to work out, I have a couple Pilates DVD's that I do at home. Sometimes on the weekends in the winter when the weather is crap, I'd much rather stay inside my nice warm house that have to go out in the yucky weather. The 8 Minute series Abs/buns/thighs are also good quick workouts. Rhonda

Kodak Portra 160. It's professional film and I've found it works best. It was recommended to me by a professional photographer friend. R

My question is, "Who in their right mind would want to have a child with this freak?" I know that she probably didn't have sex with him to get pregnant (YUCK!) but still, you couldn't pay me enough money to carry that freak's child inside me for 9 months. I'd have nightmares! R

Gingerbread lattes have been back for a couple weeks now. At least in Seattle. I've been stocking up on the Gingerbread syrup so I can make my own after Starbucks stops for the year. I love egg nog but I can't drink milk so I haven't had Egg nog in years until I recently discovered Silk Soy Nog. Egg Nog made with soy milk. It is really yummy!! R

Well, considering the movie just came out a few hours ago, most of us haven't had a chance to see it yet. I will be there in about 2 hours. Already have my tickets. R

We had a Sega Genesis a few years ago that had the coolest Joy stick ever. It was a chair. The buttons were on the arms and the backward/forward/side to side movement was controlled by actually moving the entire chair. It was a blast. It was made by, believe or not, Nordic-track. I think it was their attempt to get the lazy gamers to get some excercise. It really was a workout. It took up a huge amount of space though so we got rid of it when we moved across country. R

How about Weed, CA. I have a great picture of me standing in front of Weed High School. Sadly, it's at home and I'm at work so I can't post it. R

How about singing the "Elements" song. As in the Elements of the Periodic table. We have a few geeks, I mean guys, (One of those is my husband) who started that at our dz and it's actually kind of fun. Plus you can dazzle unsuspecting people with you knowledge of science. Oh There's antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium, And hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium And nickel, neodymium, neptunium, germanium, And iron, americium, ruthenium, uranium, ... For the whole thing go to http://chemlab.pc.maricopa.edu/periodic/lyrics.html R

I worked with a girl a few years ago who insisted that my husband would never be able to get very far in the computer field without a bachelors degree at the very least and preferably a masters degree. He has neither. He is completely self taught starting with teaching himself basic when he was 7. I worked the exact same job as this girl, who had a masters degree, so I knew roughly how much she made, my husband at that time as a developer made a little more than twice what I did and probably the same as her. I have a BS degree by the way in computer science. Anyway, 4 years later, she is still working the same job making probably a bit more than what she did then, if she is lucky and my husband is now a game developer and making twice he made 4 years ago and probably 4 times more than her. So I guess my point is this, if a person has natural talent and smarts a college education is not necessary and certainly not a reason to call a parent irresponsible for having children when they can't afford to send their kids to college. Do I think college is a good thing? YES I do. Otherwise I wouldn't have devoted 4 years of my life to it. I paid for college myself with students loans and grants. I don't think my parents were irresponsible for having me and my brothers and sisters when they couldn't afford to send us to school. In fact my parents taught many lessons that were far more valuable than anything I ever learned in college. Will I send my own daughter to school? If that is what she wants. Right now she is leaning towards a career in Equine medicine so I'd say college is a definate for her. R

OH yea. Blueman. That would be my husband Richard. He shaved his head in the middle of the night while I was sleeping to prepare for that costume. Imagine my shock in the morning. We went into the girls bathroom that night and spent an hour trying to scrub that blue shit off his head. I'll bet he won't be doing that again anytime soon. But he was probably enjoying being in the girls bathroome with two women giving him their undivided attention. R R

I'd check at Perris. Tanya and Craig O'Brien used to teach. I'm sure they will again and may be now but Tanya just had a baby. Give them a call though. http://www.teamfirestarter.com

Well, this is not really a PLF story but it's a funny landing of the DZ story. More a bad case of target fixation. I had about 25 jumps and was jumping with my husband. Bad spot, knew we were gonna land off DZ. I was following my husband cause he had more experience and I knew he would find a safe place to land. Found a field that looked good (we actually have tons of places to land near our dz) I spotted a ditch and kept saying to myself "Don't land in the ditch, don't land in the ditch." Guess what? Not only did I land in the ditch but I landed perfectly in the ditch in a seated position. Now this ditch was only a foot and a half wide and probably 3 feet deep and I was wedged in pretty good. My husband said I completely disapeared and if hadn't been for my canopy laying on the ground by the ditch he wouldn't have known where I was. I couldn't get up. Every time I tried to put my hands on the edge of the ditch to pull myself out the dirt would give way and more of the ditch would cave in on top of me so I just sat there laughing my ass off until my husband got to me and could help pull me out. When he finally got over too me and pulled me out he looked down into the ditch with this look of horror on his face. In the exact spot I had just been sitting in was a snake slithering away. I guess I had landed on him and had him pinned down. Believe me, if I had known there was a snake underneath me, I would have gotten the hell out of the ditch no matter what! Rhonda

Dude. How do you like Frederick. I lived there for a few years and it was my favorite city to live in so far. I used to live downtown on South Street for a while then lived in Willowcrest near Ft. Detrick. I'm sure it's changed a lot since then. That was 10 years ago but I loved downtown Frederick. What a neat city with awesome little pubs and restaurants. My husband and I met at Grif's Landing. Rhonda
