  1. If you who jump regularly at Perris or those of you who have visited there, there was a good chance you knew or have met freeflyer Rob Tompkins. Rob died this week doing a base jump in Norway. He was a super great guy with the most amazing smile. He was one of those people that you always wish you could spend more time with. He was always kind and loving and always willing to jump with people who had less experience and share what he knew. He great dreams of things he was going to do in the future. A truly wonderful and talented man. I will miss him very much as will everyone who had the honor to have known him. Love you Rob, Rhonda

  11. In case you haven't heard. Eli Thompson of the Flyboyz did the opening scene and it kicks ass!!!! Fritz Pfnur the camera work for that scene. Even if you are not a Austin fan, it's worth seeing just to watch Eli land in the back of the "Shaguar" while it's moving at 35 miles an hour. Oh yea, there are also behind the scenes photos on FLYBOYZ FLYBOYZ ROCK!!!! Rhonda
  12. That's weird. Wonder it didn't show up in the thread when I looked at it 2 seconds before I posted this one? I checked before I added this one. The last message in the thread was the one about Fat Bastard. Oh well, no biggie. Just strange. Rhonda
  13. If you did, you must have said at the same time I was typing this one cause I didn't see it. Rhonda

  16. July 26, 1998. Carolina Sky Sports My husband had been jumping for 6 months and at that point I really didn't think I was interested but we went down there for a boogie one weekend and I decided to do a tandem. I tell him that I was doing it. He didn't know until I walked out of the hanger in a harness. Well, needless to say I was hooked. I went to Airanch Skydivers in Fayetteville the very next day and did levels 1 & 2 AFF. Then in December of that year we moved to Seattle and jumping pretty much stopped for 6 months due to the rain. When the sun did come out, jumped for 3 months then the rain came again. The following May I broke my femur and haven't jumped since except a few tandems. My husband still jumps every weekend when the weather is nice and we spend a lot of time in Perris when it isn't. Even though I don't actually jump anymore, I am still very active in the sport in other ways and skydiving is still a huge part of my life and my passion. That's probably more information than you wanted but there it is. Rhonda Rhonda
  17. I've done 4. 2 several years ago and 2 in the last month. I haven't started jumping again since I broke my femur and I've been doing some tandems to try to determine if I really want to jump again. The verdice is still out. Somedays I know I want to and other days I get kind of scared. I'm sure if I had had a high jump number when I broke my femur, it would be a much easier decision. The last one I did was cool as hell. I had a bunch of freefliers on the dive with me. It was a blast. Rhonda

As I understand it, freeflying was never actually a competition though. They did some exhibition stuff for a couple years to try to spark some interest. But I'd watch out for swooping in the future. As long as swoop competitions keep getting sponsorship for events from people like Red Bull and Ford, someone is bound to sit up and take notice soon. Rhonda
  19. Drew, Glad to hear you are doing well and going to get back in the air. You should contact Bonehead and let them know about the Batrack. They love to hear stuff like that. They might even like to put something on their website. Rhonda
  20. If we were all equipped with some kind Psycic ability, we wouldn't even need elections. We would just know who would do the best job as President and appoint that person because it would be a unanimous decision. But we don't. All we can really do is vote for the person that we feel in our own opinion will do the best job and hope for the best. Not that I'm a huge fan of Bush or anything, but we have no real guarantee that Gore or anyone else would be doing a better job. They are, after all only human too. All we can really expect is that the person that was elected whether we voted for them or not is going to make the decisions that he/she feel are the right ones and hope that they work out. We can all sit back and criticize but if Gore were President right now. Things really wouldn't be that much different. People would just be criticizing him for decisions he made. It would be different people but the effect would be the same. After all, it's the American way. Just my .02. Rhonda
  21. What dropzone are you going to be jumping at? Perhaps I can point you to someone. Rhonda
  22. After I broke my femur a couple years ago someone in my office asked... Q: What happened, didn't your parachute open? A: I'm thinking that if my parachute hadn't opened I would have more than just a broken leg. Like maybe 6 feet of durt over my head. R
  23. This happened to my husband a couple years ago in a sit. It nearly ripped the reserve container clean off the harness. Not to mention ripped his arm out of the socket. He was jumping an older Dolphin with way too much bridle exposed. He had a rigger modify it quite a bit but he has since retired that rig and has 2 Inifinities now. He was hurtin' for a few days after that one. Rhonda
