Just thought I'd mention this for anyone who is interested. There is a really cool website called The Urban Legend Reference Pages. They research a lot of the jokes, spam and urban legends circulating around the internet. You know the "BEWARE You've got to read this and pass it on to everyone you know!" kind of stuff. It's a fascinating site and I go to it often just to see what people are saying now. They have a full database search and you can find almost anything on there and they usually have logical explanations as to why most of the untrue stuff is in fact untrue. You should check it out if you haven't seen it yet. The address is The Urban Legends Reference Page

Tom were you there during the Cinco de Mayo weekend? If so I remember seeing you. I was watching Clint and Jim on the field videoing landings. Rhonda

My husband is 7 years younger than me and we've been together 12 years. (Do you math, that makes me pretty old) Anyway, we've always grown together, explored together and had great adventures together. We learned to skydive together. Even though I'm older than he is I don't think I will be slowing down before him. I would never let him get the upper hand like that. Besides most people think he is older than me. Rhonda

If you are purchasing from a pet shop, make sure you get some kind of guarantee from the shop and then take the snake to an expert (breeder or vet) and get it checked out. My husband bought a Ball Python a few years ago and by the time we figured out it was sick, it was too late. My husband has had snakes all his life and he couldn't tell it was sick. We gave him to a local breeder who hoped he could nurse him back to health but again, it was too late. The breeder did tell us that he was already in poor health when we got him and without being treated for the disease he had early on, there was not much hope of saving him. We only had him for about 5 months.

The Body for Life workout is great. Also, you should find out what the minimum number of calories you should have daily to lose to 1.5-2 pounds a week. Don't let you body go into to starvation mode by getting too few calories. Then it will hold onto all the fat it can. There is a calculator on line at http://caloriecontrol.org/calcalcs.html that can tell you what your minimum is. Rhonda

I think it probably depends on the injury and what type and how big the pins/screws are. I had a 18 + inch rod in my femur and I had it removed for several reasons. One it hurt like hell everytime it rained or got cold and I live in Seattle so it rains a lot here. Second, the thought of having another bad landing and possibly ramming the rod up into my pelvis didn't sound too pleasant An I've heard stories of that happening. So I had mine taken out and I'm happy with the decision. I still have some pins and screws in my ankle though and will probably leave them in. They do bother me occasionally but mostly when I'm skiing because of the boots and the cold. Rhonda

The competition was never completed. Due to high winds, they had to call it. Rhonda

Gee, I didn't mean to make it look like I was directing that compromise comment at anyone specific. It was just my opinion on marriage in general. What works for one may not work for another. If that were the case, no one would ever get divorced. As for money, what works for us is we each have a seperate checking account for "my/his" money and a joint account that we both put equal portions of our paychecks into to pay the bills, groceries, etc. That's always worked best for us. He makes twice as much money as I do but we still consider the joint account equal. Sorry, if I pissed you off Laz. That was not my intention. Rhonda

Married 11 years. My husband and I renewed our vows last January in the Bombshelter at Perris. Don't ask, it was crazy. We both skydive and we have a daughter that can't wait to skydive. We pretty much let each other do what we want when we want. If I want to take off for a few days and go to another DZ and he can't get off work, I go without him. Vice Versa of course. If he wants to go and hang out at a rave/party all night with some friends and I don't want to go, then I'm not going to tell him he can't go. Marriage is a compromise for sure but it's a partnership not an ownership. At least that's the way it should be. And thank God neither one of us is the jealous type. I have way too much fun flirting with all the good looking skydivers I meet. Rhonda

Zennie, I'm not offended. History has proven time and time again that most of the wars in the world were started in the name of God or better still in the name of "RELIGION". Be it Muslim against Christian, Catholic against Protestant whatever. I don't think it's what God wants. It's only what sick deranged people think God wants. People's interpretation of what God wants. Religion's interpretation of what God wants. God is not the bad guy. "RELIGION" is. I believe there's a difference. Rhonda

I think we all remember exactly where we were and what we were doing at the exact moment when something horrible in our lives happen. I still remember the exact moment the Space Shuttle exploded. As for 9-11, I had flown down to Perris the night before. My husband was supposed to fly down the day after. I was staying with some friends when we heard the news. All I wanted to do was call my husband and daughter and make sure they were ok. We live in Redmond, WA a mile from the main Microsoft campus. For some reason I was afraid that Microsoft might be a target and at the time, there was still a plane unaccounted for. But I don't think it really hit me until I heard an interview that afternoon with the mother of one of the guys on the plane that went down in PA. Then I remember thinking. My God this is real. Mother's have lost childrem, children have parents, wifes lost husbands, husbands lost wives, fiances lost fiances and friends lost friends. Not just a few but thousands all in the matter of an hour. I didn't make it home until the following Monday. My flight was cancelled 3 times before I could actually get on a flight. But I am thankful that I was surrounded by people I love unlike thousands of others who were stranded in airports all over the world surrounded by only strangers to comfort them. They are not strangers any longer I'd wager. I broke my femur a couple years ago and ever since then, I've been afraid of getting hurt again with everything I do. I hadn't jumped since then. But in the last couple months, I've been battling my fears and starting to live life to the fullest again and trying not to worry so much about getting hurt. I did my first jump in 2 years 2 weekends ago. I don't think anything will ever have that much impact on me personally or on my friends and family. I hope we never forget how we felt that day and do everything in our power to make sure it never happens again. Rhonda

If you do lose your logbook, check with your dz. If they are using manifest software, they will have a record of jumps in their computer. They may not have all the details of the jumps, but they may at least have a record of the numbers and dates. Rhonda

I have a 10 year old that has been hanging out at Drop Zones all over the country for most of her life. She loves it. She gets really pissed when we go to Perris without her. She had a hard time when she started school understanding why none of the other kids' parents jumped out of airplanes. She thought all adults did it. She kept asking the other kids how many jumps there mom and dad had. Of course they had no idea what she was talking about. All her friends think it's really cool but she is pretty laid back about it. When we take her friends of whuffo parents to the DZ with us, they of course are facinated and amazed by watching all the parachutes and our daughter is just like "Yea, I know. I've seen the parachutes in the air a million times. It's no big deal! Let's go play something.". She kind of flip-flops on whether she ever wants to jump or not. One year she says she can't wait to be able to jump and the next year she says she doesn't want to. Of course, it's entirely up to her when the time comes. Rhonda

Had FREEFLY on one car and TYM2JMP on the other when I lived in Virginia but nothing excited since I moved to WA. The FREEFLY plate is hanging on the wall at my current home DZ though.
