There are a lot of wingload comments made here, but between all the clutter on brandwars, landing attemps and the occasional sheep and horse comments its hard to find. Related to manufacturers, there's indeed no real guidence related to wingload.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

And there are big suits, and superbig room-sized suits... At the time the Blade, SM1 and Ghost where deemed huge. Compared to some models from the last two years, those are tiny... Im not against big wingsuits, and fly them a lot...but do think some people choose the wrong tool for the wrong job sometimes.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Starting what again? Im proud of any achievement. Just advocating 'right tool for the right job'. Not keen on the 'bigger is better' approach that leads to a low of low experience people in suits that are way past what their skill level should allow. That said...cool picture... Also dont see how it relates in any way to this discussion...but the self promotional stuff sure looks nice JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I flock with big suits as well, every once in a while. But still most flocks barely reach the 90 second mark. And Ive seen little to no videos passing 2 minutes of flocks, where most big suits should easily reach 3 minutes if you read all the bragging of solo performance. Id love to see people do some big flocks where the suits are used to full potential, but little to no people actually do those. And often big suits are purchased when people are having issues keeping up with the forward speed of the flock. Adding more drag sure isnt the answer there. Flying a suit more sized for their body type and the performance they are flying is the answer. Some people use the suits to their full potential for flocking. A lot of people use them as comfort blankets, afraid of needing to actually work to be there.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

4th Intl. Artistic Wingsuit Competition - Gap, France - August 4-7
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
With several French teams also coming...looks like this year will be big! All past editions had around 8 or 9 teams. With almost all previous teams coming, and a lot of new ones.....cant wait! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
The catagory (big wing) suits such as xbird, stealth2, venom etc are not intended for flocking anyways, unless you prefer flying with arms folded back. If flocking and flying is your game, choose a suit that fits your bodytype and skills. Bigger isnt always better. Every manufacturer hasa wide range JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Birdman zipper sliders (White): I need a couple

A whole zipper replacement also runs only a few bucks if you find the right place with cheap labour and poor working conditions... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Birdman zipper sliders (White): I need a couple

Why not simply replace the whole zipper with another brand/make zip? Ive seen several people do that on old GTi's and Classics where one zipper or zipper-rider gave out... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Any sewing place with a few old ladies there, will fix/update/change zippers for nothing more than a few bucks. Just try the one in your own home-town. Chances at succes are bigger than waiting for customer service from a company no longer excists... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I jumped a lot....loved it... Than jumped more...kept loving it... At one point got into wingsuit flying.....loved it even more.. Still jump, jump, and jump more....and love every oppertunity I get to do it again again and again... Try and be as complete a jumper as you can be...dont settle for solo jumps with made up 'wingsuit training' but do freefly...do fs.. Learn about levels..flying...approach...exits...funnels...tracking from a formation....and enjoy the whole road...and not just focus on wingsuit as a destination... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Though a great technique for those who have grown used to flying and handling a wingsuit on opening, its certainly not part of basic/FJC training. Its a bit more of an 'advanced' technique, that requires basic familiarity with wingsuit deployments and actions under canopy. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

4th Intl. Artistic Wingsuit Competition - Gap, France - August 4-7
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
No US teams yet? The TonySuits team has flown in the competition in 2008 and 2009. With registration for this year being open for about 2 hours, it would probably be a bit premature to claim there will be no US team this year... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Difference between Phantom2 and Phantom2z
mccordia replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I think thats an over-marketed aspect... The suit could get a bit wobbly when flown max...the small legstance made it quite easy to backfly though... S1 wasnt perfect, but far from the horror suit some people make it out to be JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

S1 in 2001 S3 in 2003 I also bought my S3 back than, after jumping classics and an S1 for a year or so... Back than it was concidered huge Imagine walking up to a boogie back than with a Stealth2 or Xbird JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
The shape of the cut is similar, though the size is quite a bit smaller than the Stealth2 in all directions/gripper length etc. The Stealth2 has quite a lot more, especialy in terms of the lower wingroot and width. The balance of the suit is great for backflying. The ghost2 always needed a slight closed legwing on the back. This flies nice and fast with everthing open 100%, arms and legs. And nice and stable on the belly, and was enjoying pushing it for distance on breakoff. Ill post some pix after the weekend! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

As DSE also mentiones, skydive/FFC use isnt the only thing demo's are used for. BASE events such as the Heliboogie etc. usually also see several PF jumpers attend, with demo suits tailored for the base enviroment. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Seeing as you are probably refering to solo BASE practice/training. I fully agree. But do note there is a long, long list of premature deployments related to (correct) use of the BASE pouch. So treat it with respect. If flying solo, no big issue. But already on a simple 2 way, a simple brush past a leg with a fellow jumpers' armwing, foot, helmet or hand is enough to dislodge the pilotchute and cause a heap of trouble. Something that can happen to anyone in the exit or during the jump itself. Ive got close to 1000 wingsuit jumps in suits with wings as small as a camerasuit, to wings the size of the space shuttle. If you feel you need the base pouch on any wingsuit, use the BOC and just pull a few hundred feet higher (and perhaps even think about jumping a suit that better fits your experience level). There are many threads on this subject. But the many incidents/near-accidents related to the BASE pouch, tell us the whole story. And its not all premature deployments by 'idiots'. Most are capable, trained and intelligent flyers, who just got into an unexpected emergency situation. For anything outside of solo BASE practice, there simply is no reason for the added dangers you are exposing the pilot of the plane and fellow jumpers to. Its fun to be a rebel..its even more fun to just be safe... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Thats correct. Orders placed for a Ghost since the start of November, automaticly receive the latest (as goes for all products/new features). People who ordered midway into Oktober already got an advanced notice, and where offered the option of upgrading to a Ghost3, with a few weeks longer wait. The first Ghost3's have been delivered to the owners already. I flew the Ghost3 for the first time last weekend, and would rate it a definate step up from the Ghost2. Especially on the back, its as solid and stable as can be (and can be flown with legwing/armwings fully open, and still fly nice and flat). We will probably upgrade the 50 jump recommendation to 80/100 jumps for this suit, as the new armwing cut and improved inflation moves it away from the Ghost2 quite a bit. Though gripper length is still the same. Weather permitting, I hope to shoot some pictures next weekend when the Belgium team gets their new suits (Phantom, Shadow and Ghost3)

We are working on a public announcent that will probably be made on the PF website sometime next week. But its about the release of several new and updated suit models, and additions/improvements to certain features on all suits in the PF range. This last note is already in effect, and everyone who received suits the last 1,5 month or so, automaticly got it with all the latest improvements Robert made to the production line! More soon!
