The Venom performs better on several fronts and thus will replace the Stealth2 in the production line. Tracking Suit, Prodigy2, Shadow, Phantom2, Ghost3, Venom, Vampire 4 is the intended line-up for 2011. A lot of R&D currently going on at the other side of the flying spectrum also hints at an interesting new development from PF further down the line...adding something new to this lineup....but what do I know...exciting times for sure.. Both seem to have a similar short start (judging videos I have here, start flying pretty much straight from exit). The speed on the V4 is definitely a lot higher. In terms of glide, I see both suits end up roughly in the same spot, but the Venom will probably benefit a lot more from prevailing winds. Even the slightest push in the back will translate to more distance on some of the longer jumps. I think the V4 is more deliberate in its design for close terrain flying. The higher forward speed gives the suit much more power related to flaring, and in terms of handling the suit seems to be much 'crisper' in how it steers and turns (see N4S for Robi doing complete 'knife edge' style banking turns, with all wings open). The Venom will probably be a bit easier in terms of accesing a nice performance, be it with the slightly more sluggish steering controls that come with the slower forward speed. I will add the cable-rigging information to the website in a short while. But seeing you still need to do a first flight course, bringing the suit to the FFC any capable coach/instructor will also be able to explain/show you the correct rigging (and check it) first hand. Id say the same speed. Though the runs I have from JNO and Robi on that location are from the first few jumps on the prototype V4 quite some time ago. Changes are they learnt to fly them a lot faster by now. But on initial comparison, Id say yea....seems to be the same speed but getting a better glide ratio. I know JNO had some guys testjumping the V4 in France a week ago, and they also experienced flying the same speed, but catching a much higher line than usual on their initial jump. The Stealth2 and V3 (and scoop arm inlet system/ clean leading edge) came out almost a full year before the Xbird. Overlay a Stealth2 and V3 and the combo is the excact outline of the Venom, and similar shows the current design direction quite a bit before it was supposedly copied from X and Y. There is always some back and forth inspiration, but when mentioning who copies what...at least get the timeline, and what feature appeared where first correct... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I actually think we'll see them diverse even more. Not every development is towards that of bigger wing. Also in the smaller wingsize, there are a lot of exciting changes and developments regarding backflying, aerobatics and performance. So far we havent really had a standard in inlet design or wingsize or shape. Every few years it changes. For better or for worse...who knows...but it seems to be an eternaly evolving thing... Its not escact science...but roughly comparing. Fred - duration 0:25 from exit (passing tree point) venom - duration 0:28 from exit (passing tree point) I have two videos here of that same jump in the V4 The first pass takes 0:25 from exit, the second jump it takes only 0:22 Ill see if I can post some of these to YouTube in full when we get closer to the V4 release.. Id pay to watch someone reach for a hackey with those Even when made in gripper style..accidently letting one go, or just letting it go to reach the hackey would throw you into a fun freestyle series for sure.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The V4 seems to pass at roughly the same height in the videos I have here from Robert, only quite a bit of additional speed. Robert does seem to prefer diving and passing through the tree/rock outcrop. Several takes on this one are in the N4S trailer and full video. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Same exit..only passes the same tree on the side and lower.. 0:39 in the venom video matches the map position of fred at 0:31. But quite a bit of extra altitude.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Come on...he aint that heavy even...he's heading towards being Lurch's (evillll) twin brother JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

In terms of the speeds flown there, and the suit designs/sizes there is a lot more possible these days regarding wingsuit performance. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Ive got several orange suits with me as well...color the sky orange! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

This event is a PF / Morpheus organised one..so fitting to do a few formations with Phantoms/Shadows. For Gap, I think we'll stick to 'anything that flies' But if you like it...why not sell one of the double suits you own, and come to the USA, Zflock is an awesome event you shouldnt miss.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGWkAEtG3KA Working speeds on relative flight will have to be higher to have some range... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

DSE, Macca and I will be organising 3 Phantom/Shadow only formations on saterday. People wanting to join put in 3 tickets, so we get 3 jumps with the excact same group, and can really work on fine-tuning the formation. Macca and I will also be looking at doing some small vertical formations with some backflying around wed/thursday. Cant wait for April to get here! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

30 mph is what the best flyers seem to score as the maximum performance in competitions such as gransee/marl etc. This means no range in speed to actually work towards the hangglider. Around 38 to 40 mph is the speed at which most of these attempts fly, so that would also be the best aim for the hangglider.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
Most wingsuit/canopy relative work seems to be around 40 mph or so downward, with a glide angle of around 1.5 to 2. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Amazing indeed. The parachutes are trimmed on the front-risers in most cases. Putting them at a very steep angle of attack. For a wingsuit to fly with a canopy without a steep set trim, the canopy has to be very small (and wingsuit pilot very good). Without this steep line-trim, such attempts will often more resemble FlyBy's (slow or fast passing of a canopy). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

So when will you stop trying to force yours onto anyone who thinks different or doesnt agree? Its more like scientology than it is a fun discussion on what possible (and more-so...whats not) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Johnmatrix I dont produce wingsuits darling. But that can all change tonight. a prediction for the near future....replies like....is there a little bit of wingsuit flyer in you? no...want some? and more bad jokes about bird-seed. Love where this is going.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
