  1. YouTube also allows for separate upload of synced subtitle files, so regardless of viewing resolution (360p to 1080p) people always see sharp overlayed text... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. A couple of months back, several suits where updated and the designer didnt fully match the paterns anymore. How-ever, all the designs are in the PDF files (as they have always been). With the color designs of the V4 and Venom also being included soon, the update was put on a slight pause and ment to be done 2 weeks ago (end of Januari). But due to a fire in my office (or more specificly, the one underneath mine) I was without computers for the last 2 weeks, due to ashes being cleaned from all boards. Ive been working on getting the updated paterns into the designer the last 2 days, and should have it back up and running before the week is over. That aside..Opening your email account and just asking PF directly is actually less mouseclicks than posting on a forum... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Someone with lower experience, who doesn't pull immediately but hangs on to the bridle in a bit of a hesitant pull, can have a whole lot of bridle catch on gear as it flaps behind him. Most likely catching one of his 5 Gopro's... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Both boogies will have load organising after the competition part is over. The boogie in Belgium is small, small plane (C206 turbine) but several very enthousiastic flyers, cheap(!) jump prices and a wonderfull view over the Antwerp Harbour, with the Belgian Wingsuit team Oxygen doing funjumps and organizing for those wanting to have fun. Also FFCs etc. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Hungary, Competition and Flocking Gap, Wingsuit Comp and flocking Belgian Summer Weeks 2 week boogie at Hoevenen, small but awesome:) and many places with action all year round, be it weekends or weekdays. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. http://wingsuitcompetition.com/divepool.php We've just added the missing animation for figure H/YingYang And working with L&B to get AltiTracks involved in judging the working altitude (so everyone gets exactly the same altitude from exit till seperation). More news soon! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Though not directly related to the choice of 'which suit gets me the max performance' any suit in the intermediate category will help one learn a lot faster. When you compare the feedback you get from a small, agile suit, which you have to fly at a high performance level with others to play, its very responsive and direct in what you feel. Comparing that to flying a big (to huge) suit with others or alone, the feedback from the large amount of fabric is a lot less. You're flying IN a suit, compared to flying the suit. Doing a lot of 'small suit' jumps definitely improves my flying in bigger wingsuits. While I do notice a definite 'lack of effort and sloppy flying' when I revert from a big suit to a small one. Adding to what Luke said....one or two seasons flying a smaller (intermediate category) wingsuit will add a definite improvement to your performance and all round skills that will make you fly like a rocket once you choose to 'graduate' to one of the top-of-the-line models. 8. The aforementioned event, I was 'overruled' by two more experienced people who did allow the (similar low experienced person) to jump and even did the FFC a few months before, knowing the low experience. We just took our group on different loads/plane to not be in the same airspace. A high deployment, bad navigation or shit exit can mean someone falls through your group. Im all for not treating anyone as babies, and someone having full say in silly or even downright stupid things he or she may wants to do. But when it adds a factor to my jump or the group Im playing LO for that makes me worry. Than Id rather skip that load. But with the BSR now in place. How does it work when you have done 1 jump elsewhere? If I throw someone fresh of AFF from a plane in a WS for 1 jump just to 'get one in'. Does that mean the person is clear of any rules the BSR has regarding wingsuit jumps? As its not an FFC. Its the 2nd flight. The UK system is very strict, yet at the same time has loopholes the size of the moon with regards to who teaches what and how. How does this 200 jump rule compare? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Regarding his insurance: if its through his own countries organization, which he is bound to by the rules they issue for skydiving (and in this case wingsuit flying). Ignoring those rules means he is probably also at risk of not being insured. As well as not sticking to the BSR which (I think) also reads '200 jump minimum. Seems like the DZO has more reason to not let him on his plane than you'd have. But thats just talking money, and not safety. The model you mention seems to be rated as an experienced suit (at an awesome 75 wingsuit jumps) on the website of the manufacturer. If that's what the WSI trained and/or sold him at those jump numbers. Just wow. Id wouldn't want there low experienced flyers on loads where they could potentially get in other peoples way and hurt other besides themselves. I remember the excact same problem from the AN72 boogie...sadly there the wrong decisions where made by people from who I expected a lot better... Sad to see this same issue popping up again and again. All these guys without patience to invest time and effort into learning something proper..and sadly, money hungry individuals who assist them through sales and payd instruction. Who 'issues' these WSI rating btw? I keep seeing that name pop up, but hear two to three different sources regarding who issues them. Probably the start of a long thread with bitching about why and who. But sadly again just ignoring basic safety and advice regarding experience needed to fly a wingsuit, and experience recommended to fly that certain model. I guess Ill grab some popcorn... 10. I couldnt keep up backflying That was raw flying powerrrrr! Full arms..full legs...awesome speed JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. We didnt post anything on the PF website when Andreea and Stu got their PFC rating (already quite a few months back). So I figured Id give them an extra nod and make em noticed through including them in the news post. No mistakes, no errors. Actually trying to be nice... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. When it comes to skydiving and wingsuit flying in particular, a good one to always remember is "Slower is usually faster" This goes for steering inputs, body position during deployment and reactions to what happens around you in general. Take your time, and do everything in full controll, instead of forcing your way through it via a series of unstable movements hidden in haste.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. 1. In BASE, flyers will usually not fly 100% when skimming terrain, but will opt to fly at 70 to 80% too have range left to 'climb' relative to the ground in case they get to close. Hence, not always seeing '100%' body positions. 2. In Flocking, speeds are (more often than not) far from 100% flight, and especially with groups often flying at a nice working speed for the least capable flyer...these body positions also tend to be far from the 'all out' 100% positions you refer to. 3. In the first generation wingsuits, the angle of attack wasnt really built into the suit design (legwing vs armwing size) and a bit of a de-arch was needed to really fly the suit. In modern wingsuit design we now see a more flat body position bringing the optimal performance. With the larger legwing automaticly dipping the suit in the perfect angle of attack. 4. Some of the examples in books tend to slightly overdo the actual body position. Showing a more exaggurated version of what you actually need to do, to make it clear. The actual body position required is often a lot more subtle. The biggest cause for linetwist is asymetry, canopy choice and shitty packing. Though its hard to point to an excact cause for any one malfunction or line-twist, asymetry is often a big culprit. Be it your body position during deployment, creating an un-even airflow, or one shoulder pushing more into a riser than the other due to looking back, or one leg hanging more in a legstrap than the opposing side. Its just one of many things that can cause twists related to asymetry. Next to asymetry, canopy choice is ofcourse a big factor as well. A 170 sq/ft spectre will usually behave a lot nicer than a 99 sq/ft stiletto. Another factor is fullspeed pull or breaking before pulltime. The speed redicaly influences the 'swing' you make under canopy, which in turn is influenced a lot by your legwing (and possible asymetry and amount of surface presented) which can spin your body a bit and/or create un-even riser pressure, resulting in spinning up. And thats aside of other factors that influence twist. Some people have little to no linetwists, others every single jumps. And often with the same of different gear. Its a case by case thing to evaluate... If you have no issues during opening. Keep doing what you do...as it seems to be working. No. Though 100% flying is definately almost impossible due to not having any range left, similar to trackingdives speeds can slowly be increased. Often the base will fly at 50% to 60% the first 10 or 15 seconds and than slowly work his/her way towards the desired flying speeds. But depending on the skills of the flyers, the wishes of the flyers, and for a large part also suits used, the actual flying speed can vary wildly. And due to often compensating 'down' the forward speeds tend to drop more and more as the jump progresses. Though this is certainly not a rule. Its a subject often topic of hot debate, but its definately getting better, and depending on where you go, you will find wildly varying choices in mode of flight. Some fly it slow forward, some balistic. Some combine that with fast downward speeds, other like to push for full flight in both orientations. In the end, its all flying your body. Be it near a stall, in freefall or cruising like a missile...its flying....not a right or wrong. But always with room for improvement for sure. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. That would be pre-ordered. We will have an official release date very soon Production time for the Venom should be around the same as all other suits (4-8 weeks). Only the Vampire line (which is made in a seperate facility) is subject to longer lead-times due to the coninuously growing list of orders. But everyone will be glad to hear that over the last few months, personal has been trained and added to the production line, so also there lead times should quickly be getting a lot shorter compared to the previous several month wait.
