  2. More prizes will be added soon! http://wingsuitcompetition.com/sponsors.php JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Imagine landing the 27 sq/ft canopy Luidi landed, with your body tied onto the canopy horizontaly, having no feet to land on, impacting face-first, and at 4 times the speed he did it, with a flare moment thats even smaller and VERY sensitive to stall (meaning you dont slow down enough). Ive gotten my wingsuit as slow as 8 mph during flares. Visa is the only one I know of who actually logged a climb on his GPS. But still, insanely fast forward. You can add all kinds of spars, rigs, wheels etc that slowly turn it into an airplane. But the basic 'land a wingsuit' is similar to jumping out of a car driving 150 mph without protection. Try it 10 times, and you accidently come out okay once, break your neck twice, and end up as a long smudge on the high-way on all others. Many reasons to say one is planning to land...if I could pick one, it would be to get sponsors who pay a lot of 'preparation' jumps, gear, exposure on tv etc for me for the coming years.. In reply to 'at least 5 other guys' I think they are fictional characters that help create a sense of urgency to raise more funds for sponsored preparation JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Though the event officialy only runs friday to sunday, the last few years its pretty much been a full week event, with many people (and demo suits) on the DZ starting tuesday/wednesday already... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Zflock is an event organised by Morpheus and Phoenix-Fly. Demo's will be available in multiple sizes for the whole product line JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Short video from last weekends (beginner) flocks at Schaffen (Belgium) http://www.vimeo.com/21072646 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Last week I updated the google calender on wingsuitnews.com with all EU/US events I knew of at that time. Feel free to mail or PM if you want to see dates added! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Though its not sustained speeds, but flaring included, the results at http://paralog.net/ppc/showtimecomp.php are always a good indication on whats possible. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. shit..and here I was saying "Just because you CAN write evrything doesnt mean you SHOULD". Me and my big mouth... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Ill take a pie-ing over the Dutch tradition ANY day...(which is getting drenched in a horrible soup of fruits etc thats been rotting behind a hangar for a week thrown over your head). Has anyone ever attempted in-air pie-ing? That would ba challange! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. You left with that impression. Not words I spoke. Wear a tight freefly suit from slick fabric vs a baggy one from rough fabric. People strugling to catch up with flocks in suits that are oversized (and for their tiny posture) a very rough material, was the subject of the conversation. And its not my weird theory. Its the same reason you often see speed-skydivers in latex suits, and different type of fabrics with different drag characteristics on certain skydiving suits or piece of gear. And of course aspects such a pitch angle, thickness of the wing etc also all come into play. But like I mentined wingloading is the subject, and not marketing. The same reason I mostly fly a 'tiny' shadow. Turning that into some 'anti brand sentiments' or 'only for people with obesitas' for sure isnt what I was talking about. Its the exact same story I'd tell you if you where a small guy and doubting between getting a Ghost3 or Phantom and getting it from Balloon Zero-P or the rougher Parapak. And all this is aside of certain aspects of safety features (regardless of brand) working or not working. But thats stuff I discuss regardless of brand or loyalty. Similar to stories on cars, dogs, ponies, butters and lube. I agree that freedome of speech is an awesome thing. But just because you can say anything, doesnt always mean one should...as way to often good conversations turn into poor mud slinging competitions. I dont want anything you wrote deleted for what you wrote in reply to me. But I do think its poor taste to use the thread in which the release of a new product by PF is announced as your podium. Start a new thread called "why Jarno is an incredible ass" and lets get that to fester and rot with nasty remarks and whitty comments. Thats why I asked for cleaning up. It seemed to be more about bitching just to bitch, than it actually being related or important to this thread. But like you say. Flying is flying. And blue skies to everyone. Be it in a vingate old-timer Birdman suit, FlyYourBody, IntrudAir, PF, JiiWings, EG-Suit or Tonysuit... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. With only 32 more jumps to go, and only 3 weekends of jumping on my roster, its almost a 100% sure thing I will be making my 1000th wingsuit jump at Flock & Dock. Idea's! Suggestions! What should I do! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. We will be updating the wingsuitcompetition website this week with some minor additions to the rules related to the working altitude. Thanks to backing by L&B we will be using AltiTracks to monitor exit altitude, and each team will be getting 7500 ft of working altitude. Meaning the scoring stops the moment they pass that exact freefall distance (12500 ft exit. 5000ft 'stop', 12200 ft exit. 4700 ft 'stop etc.) Meaning there isnt any difference between teams who exit first or last, as well as easier rules (no more 'showing' of altimeters to the camera, or cameraman deployment altitude being used to check seperation etc). So all in all, more robust and fair rules. And still, fly better = more working time. Everyone gets the same 7500 ft of freefall to 'show what you got'. L&B is also sponsoring prizes, as well as a spontanious offer from DeepSeed freefly suits and FlyYourBody and PF are the two main organizing parties, both sponsoring the prizes as well. Expect more news soon! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Im also the fool for responding to that BS. But agreed, though Id rather see it cleaned up from the point 3 rings and paying royalties are mentioned.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. I never bitched about any company at Marl. The girl I measured was 1.58 cm, and 48 kg and had issues with forward speed in flocks. I talked about drag and wingloading. And looking at Tony's line-up at the time, there wasnt a small suit for girls of that size if you wanted an intermediate model. It wasnt any negative BS, but a simple conversation about wingloading. And a mention of cutaway handels coming out of suits in the plane, after a BM redesign. Where I thought, if it isnt broken, dont fix it. I never once mentioned 'a cutaway system that can kill you' I did mention a legwing zipper that had fabric getting caught between it, that opened completely on one side during a back to belly transition, sending me into a severe spin at 4000 ft. After asking for a simple snap on all suits, and after hearing mulitple people with the same issue. To me, that was a safety issue worth mentioning. And was an answer to the question I got asked, which was: why did you leave BM. Not because of money (I never got payd a single penny, and never once got a free suit). Simply because I didnt like the products anymore, and saw safety issues. Issues I do want people to be informed about, without bad mouthing. Similar to the sleeve system not being functional in 100% of the situations. Hence the actual cutaway still being there on the Venom. As lifting knees under a spinning reserve or base canopy aint gonna happen. I talk a lot, and talk a lot about aspects of products that I like, and issues I see that I dislike. Regardless of brand or model. If you listen in on other people talking, try and understand why something is being said, instead of thinking sales are always the incentive. Ive seen plenty of low experience people put in way to big a wingsuit in an effort to make a sale. Thats the exact reason there is a list of warnings on the PF website for the Venom. Informing people. Im not badmouthing PF on that product page. Its information. And ignoring issues without our sport because its 'bad marketing' in your views, is something that can hurt you or kill you if you keep looking away. Like you say 'if I remember right'. Maybe ask the people I was actually talking with, who (unlike you) got the full conversation, Instead of the negative marketing story you post here. And compliments on your posts in this thread. Two big attacks on PF and myself, and than ending with 'so lets give it a rest'. Try and look at the world through a less angry pair of glasses... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. I think he ment, you need a bit more experience to fly suits of that size. But judging the speeds Ive been doing on the Stealth2 (avg 32 mph for a full jump) the venom should probably go a bit bellow that. Though fallrates are only in part suit design and skill. Body size influences it a lot as well. If you fly the same suit weighing 80 kg or weighing 45 kg, there is quite a difference in fallrate. By itself, its not a good standard to judge performance. But of course, big suits will get you low speeds. How low depends on your experience, skill and build. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Glad to see you confirm the other accounts mentioned JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Actually the PF prodigy was the first suit that allowed reaching the risers. Tony didnt invent that. The IDEA of reaching risers was pioneered by Robert. The method in which its done is different for Tony and the Venom uses another method of the 'reach risers' concept that (again) ROBERT HIMSELF first made real. Regarding the Venom, Its quite a difference from the setup tony has a wide sleeve vs stretching geometry. Plus this also has a cutaway for reasons others are not willing to discuss. Yet the change in setup, mimicking what Roberts doing shows the initial setup is (as many practical cases show) far from perfect, otherwise there wouldnt be a need to copy. But in light of that statement fun to see that the latest pictures of the Apache show Tony copied Robi's setup with the stretching parts. Including a similar cut of the stretching fabric. The eyeballing Matt gerdes did on the prototype Yuri flew several months back, and the pix Tony took of the suit at the PIA definately where used properly Which reminds me of a flock and dock 6 situation with a V3 and Stealth3, and sudden change in inlet design 2 months later for 'the other company'. Should I mail Robi's bank account for royalties as well? Not a single idea is new, but the way in which things are executed definately vary a lot. As well as the experience levels to which the suits are sold. Come on, does this childish bitching never end. And why only against PF? Where where you guys when the PF ram-air inlets that Robi designed where showing up on other suits. And where where you when TS copied the zipper setup from the S-Fly? And where where you guys condemning Birdman for copying the basic setup of the suit DeGayardon made? Nice Blade you're flying there....real curious who you think designed that one JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. In terms of reaching risers its a system that has the same goal, however in construction/function it works quite different and has a normal/tighter sleeve during flight as the basis. The sleeve stretches in parts, whereas the other system you mention is a wide sleeve in setup. This stretching sleeve had now been used in base for almost a year now on several PF prototypes, with good results. Due to it needing some degree of lifting legs for full reach (which is not possible on per example a heavily spinning reserve or base canopy) there is still a normal cutaway for emergencies. 20. I already always thought the nickname 'butters' showed a preference for the cheapest lube one can find in a supermarket.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. ***Got the links from www.wuza.com[/quote Was also on wingsuitnews.com when it went live... Aside from water being weird/lame, looks like an awesome gig to get in terms of filming... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Its not always the amount of suit you have that makes you fly, its the forward speed that provides the lift. So 'more suit' doesnt always aqual more lift/float. Though idealy everyone flies max, often speeds can be lower so learning to match all flight speeds is definately good. Also the slower ones. Try varying the width of the legwing, instead of bending at the knees. So you can fly legs straight, but with a narrower legwing. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. More rigid, as well as presenting a sharper edge to the oncoming air (its similar to the preformed foam leading edge on the V3/V4). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. and dz.com is still university level compared to youtube comments.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
