The close spacing is due to the extreme wide-angle. The examples Ive seen so far from the GoPro 3D setup vary from 'nice' to 'mwaa'. The 3D looks okay around the center of the image, though not a lot of depth beyond all the close range stuff. And the image seems to loose allignment around the edges quite visably. Using properly alligned seperate cameras, or the consumer type JVC/Sony 3D setup, the results look a lot better. Especially when you have a lot of distance/depth in the scene you're shooting, a seperate setup for which you can adjust the allignment/focal point (be it 'locked' during the jump itself) is definately still the best result. What I really enjoy seeing in the full jumps here is that the flying is getting cleaner and cleaner. With sharper and more crisp steering. Where normaly it feels like people fly roughly passed a cliff (even though usually thats also planned for most people already) its really starting to show that they planned the full flight, down to every corner, hook, crack and tree they pass. What you dont see here of course is the multiple jumps on each location, and the careful progression towards the final lines you see in this video. But it shows the difference in planning and safety with some of the flying where people hop in and out for a quick trip to do a few jumps. Even though its all 'on the edge' its very thought out...and damn cool to watch.. For the next 'full' Need4Speed series video, there will be a bit more focus on the planning, preperation and training that goes into all this...so keep an eye out for 'more' JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

And its live on Vimeo. Small render glitch in the opening shot, but Ill just update the file tomorrow for that one. Enjoy! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

haha.....not so much suspense..but for sure its amazing eyecandy. JeanNoel did some shooting with a 5D Mark II last weekend, and said to have some pretty cool shots, which I want to include. To help those waiting through the day, Ill upload some of the incredible 4way video I did last weekend to my youtube. ALMOST as cool to watch as this stuff....*errrr..NOT* JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Im waiting for 2 final shots (in high quality) from Ludo and JNo, who should be uploading those to me late afternoon today. The moment I have those, Ill be hitting export and upload! So stay tuned! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

With the huge wing designs such as Xbird, Stealth2, Venom etc. a full flight pull actually is much better advice. Its hard to impossible to close the wings. And adopting a symetrical pull position and throwing in full flight leads to cleaner air/deployments. Thats a definate NO on these big suit designs. When spinning, the legwing is impossible to collapse, and will lead to end over end tumbling real quick when flung away from a canopy. An instant cutaway/pull is always prefered. As Juan did. As I did when I experienced a mallfunction on a stealth2 jump a year or so ago (on which you also commented the same 'dont immidiately pull'). These big suits are fun when flown stable, but are wild bronco's when shit happens. Which is just one of the reasons why we recommend 180-250 wingsuit jumps before trying/flying one. Though if fully agree with the RSL and hard cutaway housings, I do recommend not giving advice on dealing with openings on big wingsuits before getting some more experience on something bigger than a blade yourself. As some of these things can lead to worse things than what we see here.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Id not call this full flight. And even in full flight, shouldnt be too big an issue. The twists seem to not start untill the canopy is almost fully deployed. Rolling the whole nose one direction (exposing one corner cell first) seems like a more likely cause of the twist, as the bag orientiation seems to be (dispite body position and technique) without twists/turns. Yea..Birdmans best visual addition to wingsuit design ever. Though on the blade it actually did make pulling a bit easier, I personaly prefered the straight trailing edge, even if just for looks. More of a straight guy...though Ive been known to hit the odd pony or two.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

It was one of the first 'aerobatics' suits designed. Nice sturdy fabric. But a sideway/cross the chest zipper that made it hard to put on. And the legwing suffered a bit from poor inflation when not flown with proper tension. Depending on the asking price, could be a fun suit to play with, or one t pass on if a newer wingsuit model could be bought 2nd hand for the same price... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Schaffen (BE) Wingsuit Weekend #2 - The Video
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
There wont be a 'record' formation, as there is no record standard. We will be doing the best formation we can do with the people that have been selected. Thats why its called "The Benelux Bigway" and not "The Benelux Record" JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Schaffen (BE) Wingsuit Weekend #2 - The Video
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Spent the past few days doing back and forth switching between the next PF Need4Speed video, and the shots I collected from everyone after last weekends formation event at Schaffen, Belgium. And Im glad to say, one edit is finished, and the other is halfway done! Ive upload the video to Vimeo, hope you like it! Sure had fun making it! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
At least he didnt hit the plane on exit on that last jump from being too focussed on the camera thats pointing back at him...like a jump or two before that... "I just turn it on and forget about it" only works to the point where it snags your canopy or makes you forget about other stuff such as proper exits as well.... Granted, Jeb has made the '5 GoPro's per jump a manditory beginner accesoiry, but for people this early in their jumping career I think the focus should be on skills and practice, and not video and being populair on youtube. If there are enough people who want to attend. We are looking into organizing a PFC course on monday/tuesday after the boogie, as some people asked. Shoot me or DSE a PM asap, as we need to change some flight dates in case we want to run this course. Cheers, J JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The stuff Jokke did there is a seperate Item. With all the cool material at my disposal for editing, there is no need to use stuff multiple times. Enjoying the flyby from Jokke in its own right as a seperate awesome item (in the program it was done/made for) is always better....cool, cool stuff! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

And someone should give that van a check...last year it constantly had issues with smoke buildup on the inside....steam coming out the windows... Many people went in there to check what the problem was, but all came out looking dazed and confused....probably couldnt find the issue.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
wingsuit landing without parachute project

Video Here I hit 8 mph briefly while doing a tandem flyby. This was trying to stay level with the tandem, so I do think a slight negative vallue is possible (as Finish wingsuit pilot Visa has already shown with data as well). But note the forward speed. It would be like jumping off a car doing 80 to 100 mph. Transitioning further 'up' than the +- 10 degree negative angle of attack you see here isnt possible if you want to flare. Anything more 'head-high' than that instantly kills forward speed and makes you drop like a rock. Watching a lot of close POV video of Robert skimming the ground at +- 2 to 3 meters, i wish the person who wants to try a lot of LUCK. As thats the only thing that will make you survive such a thing. Similar to throwing 10 people of the back of a truck doing 80 mph onto concrete. Some will make it. Most wont The often quoted ground effect also wont help, as it wont be doing anything for you untill you're at about 10 cm off the ground with your arms. By which time your belly and knees are already scraping the pavement Its a fun subject to talk about...but try flying past a canopy at full flare, and imagine hitting the ground moving at that speed...Ive seen that visual a lot of times, and will gladly offer to watch other people trying..but will skip when its my turn..
