  1. Kallend wrote: I actually did in almost every single post I made. It was you doing your mastubatory thing with theories missing half the effects related to bigger surface wingsuits that caused most of the fuss. Than went into namecalling and other things. But glad to see you finaly admit to Matt H, Matt S, Butters and all other people in this thread that they did get the actual practical points of the discussion everyone else was having...unlike you... You could have easily said: guys...its not just turbulance, but a lot of other stuff I didnt think of right away that influences the wake/burble/turbulent area around a flyer....but I DO understand the effect you talk about... But you didnt. You where the one going for the cheap shots..calling everyone an idiot who didnt have your grasp of theory. Shame you skipped most other effects and the actual subject discussed in your efforts to call other people fools... But I guess this is the closest we'll ever come to seeing you admit to not being right... Hope that little sum and all the fancy numbers you posted makes you feel better. The truth is, most people only care knowing there is a 'burble' thats 'bigger' to translate it to use-able information for an actual skydive. You mostly added a lot of noise, yet no practical/usefull knowledge that will help anyone fly better.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Its mostly caused by random highlighted bold text, and wasted attempts at explaining things you clearly dont grasp yourself... Again..there is more at work than simple 'turbulence' The shape/size of the suit deflecting air in other directions. The burble being a lot bigger. You can scream all you want with empty equations and theories that miss a lot (if not all) of the matter discussed...you're the one not getting it. ANYONE with actual flocking experience in close range to docked formations will be able to explain it to you. Shame its your pride that prevents you from looking outside the limited range of knowledge you display here... Again..there is a lot more at work that simple turbulence. The body positions needed to fly bigger suits at faster speeds spil air in a lot of different/angles and directions than smaller suits flown more optimal. Its not that hard to grasp. Maybe your big brain takes up to much space in a tiny skull...causing it to cramp up a bit... Relax...make some actual close range, docked formation jumps in a wingsuit....you'll get it at some point JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. You seem to understand the limited theory you seem to be able to apply okay. Its just a shame you're missing the bigger picture which turns it all into practical information applicable to the real world in which we fly You're so far the only one who feels the need to throw one-liners, emotional pleas not releated to the discussion and judgemental words like fool, ass etc at other people instead of sticking to the subject. Fly a huge suit in flocks doing avg. speeds of 50/60 mph, and you feed people around you a lot more dirty air through whatever combination of turbulence/burble/deflection it may be. Its more than fine that you enjoy flying a carpet for maximum hangtime. But its not the perfect tool for the job you describe. Not at normal flocking speeds, not at the 80 mph freefall speeds you mentioned. You show up at a formula one race with a horse, and people will tell you its the wrong tool for the job at hand. They are not trying to make you buy a Formula one car. They are simply stating facts... Its a shame your inability to find the correct theoretical description limits you from having any meaningfull discussion on actual practical flying. Try flying closer than that silly 'record spacing' to experience it yourself.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Was the word asinine so impressive you had to type it in bold text, and repeat it twice in the same post? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Neither of us demand you jump another suit. You post a message on an event, and part of that post is a complaint about having difficulty with the speeds. You can try and weasel yourself out of a lost discussion with a sad note, and now trying to divert it into a sales pitch. Its a shame any thoughtfull discussion on actual practical matters is turned into a pathetic mudslinging competition. You may think you produce less dirty air for those close-by. All the people who clearly experienced a lot closer flying and witnessed the above discussed matter up close disagree... That aside...a cheaper solution to leadbelt or new suit would be to ask the base the USE the suit he/she is wearing... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Im truly moved and feel sorry for your loss, but dont see why you suddenly skip the whole arguement, and start naming other reasons for flying a certain sized suit. The discussion was not a personal ne regarding reasons to fly X or Y suit. It was one of actual applied physics not matching with the theories you mentioned. Its kind of low to play the guilt card, and try and make butters look like an ass for not agreeing.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Im not sure Id follow... If you dont trust a person and his/her skills enough to have em get out of that spin, its better to advise them to jump a smaller suit before you board the plane.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. I always though the advertising banners where the payd ones on the top of the forum That aside, I hope the progression mentioned is picking the right suit first time round, and not aimed at getting people in the biggest suit possible asap. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. regardless of arm position, most tail/door strikes we see involve exits with most of the legwing and/or armwings open and exposed and exits usually off-axis relative to an ideal exit position/orientation. Its safe to say all would be better of having a good presentation, with a closed/symetrical body position showing as little wing as possible. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. On big surface suits, with the wingsuit past the hips/down to the knees, arms held in front of the body create a huge cupped surface. The arms only collapse the surface connected directly to the arms. The part from the hips to the knees is pulled tight/forward, creating a huge airbreak. Arms in front also usually leads to a crouched/bent forward position from tucking arms close. On smaller suits there isnt much difference between arms front/back. But on big surface models, front is definatly not where you want to have them. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. Check out the thread on the incident forum on the tail/rear-stabilaser hit. Armwings behind you (not in front, you'll cup air when opening up) knees back (bent hard, dont put them forward and create a de-arch!) and close the legs together and bend the knees. If you're unsure you can do this, sit down in the door before exit. It takes half a second extra but beats the alternative... To add to that one, we had a jumper break an ankle with a big wingsuit last weekend in Belgium. He exited the airplane with the legwing open, and before even having gotten completely out the door his feet got swept away from under him, and he got smacked into the rear of the door-frame. Cleared the tail without problems, but had a swollen ankle on landing and doctors later declared it broken. Be carefull.....and if you're doing flocking jumps under 2,5/3 minutes...pick a more suitable size/model... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. And neither do they care about your lack of applying the proper ones to the situation we are discussing... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Im quite a promoter for the use of them. Mainly due to it being a lot more secure than any other type of hackey. A brush past it (which can happen is exit) wont dislodge it. And with some of the backflying, diving etc doing speeds similar (or past) freeflying, Im quite a fan of the setup. Doesnt mean any other type of handle (light/double attachment point) is wrong. But not as secure, when scuffling around a plane, and crawling/turning around in tight planes... With regards to following someone, I do see a difference between 'keep an eye on someone' and 'try and stay with them'. Saying 'f8k you and shooting of in the distance is of course a no go, but no need to also dive yourself into an out landing, or dive into airspace with other jumpers/canopies etc while following an unpredictable moving target'. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. May also want to fix that hackeyball, get it switched for a PVC tube or freeflypud (or anything with a double attachment point). Especialy on big suits and large burbles, more than a realistic threat... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. If someone is spinning out of control: - get out the way - debrief his reaction/ EPs - ask if his experience fits the suit he/she flies By sticking with someone you only risk endangering yourself when he/she suddenly flies out of it. Nothing you can do to intervene/help anyways... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Watch some BASE exits? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Id use the drogue to deploy a secondairy landing device, similar to a drogue and perhaps bigger using ram air technology. What do you think.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  19. Most companies building pool-slides only charge 5k to 25k for huge amounts of pool-slide sections. Renting some scaffolding and slapping a ton of those half pool-slide sections on there shouldnt cost a couple of million? Or are golden bolts and diamond coating required? Without joking, wouldnt setting this up allong a natural hillside, although the strip/Vegas sure soounds like fun, be a lot cheaper, easier and also more fun for spectators who could set up allong the whole landing route, and not just the sides... Surely there should be some hills that also allow for a bail-out allong one side or another... Anyways...probably to practical...but just thinking out loud JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. agreed....the physics we're talking about relate to the earth...not the moon... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Be it deflection of air via larger surfaces, aimed sideways or whatever principle is behind it...this whole discussion mostly reads as a professors inability to find the correct scientific reasoning behind a real world phenomenom/effect that those who fly a lot already know about... Just science lagging behind on the practical world... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Similar to you flying more and getting close enough to other people to actually discover practical gaps in your theory... I told you no good would come of this 'fly 10 ft apart' grid spacing thing JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Make a small square hole, stitch two wide, overlapping stretch/elastic bits behind it to create a fabric vagina in your suit that lets the 'hitch' of the bellymount through... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Ill give him the second thumb...oh wait...that came out wrong.. Whats all this friday stuff btw? When did that happen? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
