There is no magic...only technique JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

To those missing the context of my 'rude' one-liners... When you're doing a 2 plane bigway with +- 30 people, everyone in that large group does a safe, smooth, controlled approach. Yet one person felt the insecure need to show off, and do a stupid fast dive THROUGH that very group, than flare way up into airspace where other flyers are sinking in from above him, and than do a 'not fully in control' 360 in front of that same group. I wont even mention the 'straight into full flight' at seperation.... After the jump, I heard a double dozen people comment on that very move. And every comment included the line 'idiot', 'a**hole' or other similar mention.....including one well known and respected person from the community vouching to never exit an airplane with that same person ever again. Nobody liked it. Nobody thought it was cool. Nobody is keen on seeing that kind of behavior in large groups. If you want to show of aerobatic skills, or other dangerous antics, thats what 2 ways are for. Dont do those in front and midway through a bigway group that didnt ask, nor was anyone briefed on what he was planning... Plan the jump, jump the plan....be safe and live to jump the next day... Its old words...but words to live by... If you want to show off....for sure..but pick the right time, the right move....or choose to fly camera outside of the flock and do it underneath or somewhere where you dont end up killing another person of you misjudge your dive, flare or turn... Agreed...though I also dont really see a room-sized carpet as the most ideal choice in flying for a tall/light person, even in flocks flying really well.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Can I coin a frontloop the "Mc-Flop" Anyone have some further rules on how this naming thing works? Or should we just stick to calling it 'a 360' and add the word 'dangerous' when someone does it in front of a formation? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Skipping stones? J-curve? Everyone who owns a wingsuit does one at some point. Are we seriously debating who invented a 360 degree turn haha. I know I did, just learning to do turns. Save it for the 'important milestones in wingsuit history' chapter of the new book man Ill just stick to refering to a '360 degree turn' as a '360 degree turn' if nobody else minds? Or can I coin it the 'jarno special' and say I did it first as well... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Im still hoping to discover the 'bwahaha' part...but yea...saw it, and was more impressed with the 30 or so other people who made it to their slot in a more controlled, safe and mature manner.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Its more like the dot on the 'i' of 'idiot' from what I saw shooting over my head out of control.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Its like Masturbating...you dont do it in crowded areas.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

'Wild' quickly turns into stupid when done in front of a big group, and f-king dangerous when combined with an out of control high speed dive through approaching jumpers.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Warning...Im about to go into a long rant...so progress at own risk... Personaly I think this statement is one related to selling suits, and not aimed at the actual need flyers have. Instead of a focus on skills and training, people into sales and rental are often quick to point fingers and say 'you need a bigger suit' where in any other dicipline, you'd get coaching. Looking at wingsuit boogies around the world, attending a lot of them personaly, Ive rarely seen jumps where people TRULY needed a large wingsuit to stay with a flock. Reading posts like the one on the SDC opening weekend, saying they couldnt keep up with the downward speed, showcases the exact oposite. The suit I fly now at close to 1100 wingsuit jumps, is the same suit I put on a person who is doing an FFC. And in flocking, its VERY rare to come across any jump where more is needed. Including backflying. Again...long term 'needs' to me actually reads 'sales incentive' and marketing. I understand the advertising for your company/service, but the truth is that many beginner/intermediate models (doesnt matter which manufacturer) will be allthe flyers will ever need. Regardless of the focus being time, distance, flocking or aerobatics. Wingsuits from a more sane size also increase the learning curve, as the feedback you get from your actual limbs flying the wing (as opposed to a lot of inflated surface pulling you around, which you dont fully 'feel' or controll) is also a lot better. I know 3/4th of the wingsuit flyers I know own 1 suit, and have been flying that from when they started. Some people do own a full store of suits. But even than seem to often favour only one or two. Why do we upsize gear, instead of skills? Its similar to the 100 jump wonder downsizing to a 99 sq/ft canopy to improve his swooping. We are a weird crowd at times. Suck in FS> get training Suck in FF> get training Suck in WS> buy (or rent) a new $1000 suit every few months Its a shame some LO's fly a huge comfort blanket at boogies instead of learning to fly a more suitable size wingsuit for the jumps they are making. Look at a video like the last one I did on Zflock, and see that for most people their 'beginner suit' is the same suit they are flying at 1000 wingsuit jumps and more... I know I made the biggest leap in my personal skills when I ditched 'the carpet' and went with an agile 'beginner suit'. Again...no ill intentions against the marketing of your business model. But I am getting more and more antsy reading 'up sizing' in wingsuits equalled to 'progressing' and 'upgrading'. Seeing the flying some people do in the large size suits, often refered to as 'long term suit' is ridiculous compared to what they could do if they stuck with their intermediate suit and had invested the money in actual jumps and serious training. To the OP: The beginner/intermediate choices you mention, regardless if its S-fly, PF etc. if you ask me, these suits WILL last a whole jumping career (or untill you wear them out from jumping the sh&t out of them). Though a good/which intermediate model wingsuit is of course an important aspect of ones choice. And the type of flying later on can make one choose a large surface area model in some cases. Its for sure NOT progression. Its a shift in focus. Progression happens by learning to fly your body. Not by compensating with ever increasing amounts of fabric. I sometimes wish the progression in skills was marketed as well as the actual gear itself... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

In terms of armwing/pull the Phantom doesnt feel much different from the Firebird R. There is a bit more wing, but the pull is just as easy. In terms of legwing, the Phantom has a lot more wing, giving you a lot more drive (and thus lift/glide). I have quite a few jumps on both the Firebird and Phantom and can definately recommend going for the P2. It will be a good 'upgrade' in all aspects. Especially in backflying the suit gives a lot of added range. Flockingwise its also all the suit I ever need. At events like Zflock etc. its all I fly, and never seem to have difficulty matching what others are doing. The suit is nice and agile, yet still has a major kick in terms of forward speed/glide at breakoff. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

New great news from Yves "Jetman" Rossy - Aerobatics
mccordia replied to piisfish's topic in Wing Suit Flying
A YouTuber posted this: Jetman at grand canyon 5-6-11 now called chicken man Swiss "JetMan" Yves Rossy canceled his first U.S. flight in a jet-propelled wing suit at the last minute Friday, saying he didn't have enough time to train. The Federal Aviation Administration gave him the go-ahead less about an hour before the 51-year-old adventurer was scheduled to take off. But with spectators and reporters gathered to watch the event, Rossy called it off. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Thats the reason Ive been contemplating doing a 'flight manual' video for our website, to make people away of the fact you can WASHHHH a suit. God...some people wear disgustingly smelly rags.... I can see a bumper sticker already: "A wingsuit is like a penis....try and wash it at least once a year..." JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

How was this handled when Visa did his rocket jumps for 'stunt junkies' for Discovery? He made a skydive with jet engines on his feet...? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
As mentioned, it was only on a few suits, all sent around the same time. Fingers where slapped, lighters taken away JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Its actually an issue we had with one of the workers packing the suits, but we sadly didnt discover it untill we finaly got some people inquiring about it. Its only been this way with a handfull of suits luckely, but regardless, all suits should be smelling like a new car when they arrive... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

With enough speed you can do 360's, but 'flat' is not what they'll be. Its mostly speed built up before that keeps you up (similar to transitions in a windtunnel, cupping air before a move is made). On my back and belle I mostly seem to work from the shoulders when initiating a 360, most often used to get behind a formation when doing camera underneath on my back. Its not a move you'd wanna do in front of people or inside a formation, as its mostly akin to a car doing a 360 on a highway. Only moderatly in control, with a high potential of hurting others. Sadly seen a very experienced jumper do this a few to many times in a lame effort to impress, where almost everyone else thought it was mostly dumb and dangerous... Be carefull, be safe... I predict Birdman will be back in biz, with an all new line of mens underwear and revised history that now also attributes the invention of the wheel and discovery of fire to the company... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Tonysuits: A suit that covers hands (ooh wait..already been there) A suit that covers the head (or does the S&M cap count for that one already?) A suit that covers the rig Whats next! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Check out the integrated rig/wingsuit with the MLW not showing. Yet still all handles in orginal location, showcasing a vast improvement to someone of the recent TSO violating designs JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
