  1. Actually there where 3 people backflying under mike (Brian, Butters, Me) With a 3 way stack (in terms of flyers) being the small challange there, it made sense to also stack some people on top of the base, and add some flat formation stuff as well. Baby steps... Hoping to see more and more backflying stuff! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. More speed...but you also need more practice... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. okay JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Small comment aside...lead times going into 12 to 16 weeks can happen for some suit models. The PF Vampire series has had those longer waiting times due to massive amounts of orders (the suit has its own seperate production line). Knowing several friends of mine with suits of other manufacturers are currently going into their 5th month of waiting, its safe to say wingsuit production is quite similar to rigs and other skydive gear. Popular demand can push back lead times to more than anyone desires. With only 3 active players, and only 2 doing custom sizing/models...there arent many options for 'other' sadly either. But I know both work hard to keep delays down to the minimum. But as mentioned above, the trouble you've been experiencing leads to me to believe there is something else going on...PM-ed you. 5. Im checking several of those accounts daily, and never seen any email from you? Shoot me a PM or email at jarno@phoenix-fly.com with the name of your dealer, and suit ordered. As anything over the normal 4 to 8 weeks for any suit is simply impossible for the P2, Ghost, Shadow etc. No clue whats going on, but for sure...something is wrong. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. 16 weeks? Hows that possible? I havent seen any suit go past 6 to 8 weeks the whole last year. Several people who had longer waiting times, in the end, appeared to have people in between them and PF 'hanging on' to orders untill they reached a certain number. Vampire series aside, current lead times at PF (P2/Shadow/Ghost/Venom) are about 7 to 8 weeks (busy times, summer almost here), but during the 'low' season got down to 2/3 weeks as well. Anything over that period is usually worth enquiring with the factory to see 'whats up' as it should definately not be 16 weeks. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. The frown wil turn into a maniac smile when you're flying it for the first time. Nothing beats a custum fit wingsuit, in your 'own' colors.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Why doesn't everyone ignore this kind of stuff JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. 'its a smaller wing' is more indicative of different design philosofy than it is an indicator of performance being less or more difficult. Some suits fly on large surface area, others more on efficient use of the wing profile. People often see 'float' as a performance indicator, where (to me) its the combination of speed, agility, glide, fallrates possible, backflying, aerobatics and ease of use. Regardless of which factor you like, the P2 (or Shadow) both are choices nobody will regret... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Paul also posted a cool ground to air video of the thursday bigway we did at the end of the day! http://www.vimeo.com/22442631 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. I 'lost' a day somewhere...but wow what an event so far. Im on 35 jumps at the moment, varying from biig flocks to the funnest one on ones ever. Lots of familiar friendly faces popping by to say hello and make fun flights. Some just popping by and skipping on the hellos and jumps, but equally funny regardless. Did some great mixed vertical/flat formations, and watching several people come down depressed from their V4 demo jumps, due to instantly realising they need to order one. The silver 'microwave dinner' Venom even got several people flying it. Imagine... Cant wait for tomorrow, where Im mostly planning 1 on 1 stuff and shooting some pictures on Robi doing the skydive thing.. The other LOs will be putting more fun flocks together. The skyvan also arrived thursday and made life even more fun' Missing our bro Macca here...but managing to get through the day... ps. Im never drinking again! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Odd Martin would be crying if he saw the results of the V4 vs XBird II racing several peeps here at Zhills did With the own crew of TS flying the suit at a heavier wingload than the misc. jumper flying the PF one. Even at the weight difference, the V4 owned everything else in the sky. People jumping both suits compare the Venom against the XII in petformance and speed, with handling/steering setting them apart in what they are (not possitive nor negative for either, just dufferent). Each jumper comparing V4, comes down with the nastiest smile possible... Proof is in the pudding...and loving how its served here JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. ps. Sweet JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Maybe loose some weight... So far most people watching 'big wing' models fly in both base and skydiving comment on their low speed. Including the newer models you mention. As Deniq mentions, the performance comps show that same result in hard data. Wingloading and drag are simple physics that would not hurt to get a bit more of a grasp on for some people. Glide and speed dont both increase with additional size. Though ones frame of reference of course depends a lot on what fast or slow suits you've flown previously. For one person that may be a few more than others... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Im only saying there is a small, tiny group of jumpers here with one preference, similar to mine. Of course that gets a few few people upset who have another preference. Im not saying the whole world flies P2's, Im not debating politics. I do think most people selected their suits based on what they like to fly (its suits they own, not demos). Not suits they brought based on which rep or LO is coming. Several people here commented on trying both, and for their intent/goal, prefering the suits mentioned. Its not everyone in the world, its a small group of people here. Sorry if that statement somehow upsets anyone with other preferences... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. The OP asks about two suits, and I give an answer related to that. Sorry if its not one you like Im a 'PF lover', as Ive flown TonySuits, Sfly, Birdman, JiiWings and more in my last 1000 wingsuit jumps, and like that model (actually the shadow) most at this point in time, related to the flying style I prefer. Its based on experience with all of the above. Several flyers here commented comparing suits in actibe flying, and arriving at the P2/shadow as their choice. Seems like a perfectly valid amswer to the OP question JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. My 1000th wingsuit jump, 24 jumps total, 3 Chris'ses all flocking like heroes, meeting new faces, and hearing many stories behind them, a cool ws dude named 'Cobra', backflying progres by several peeps, Ross vissually progressing and helping teach new flyers flock, The friendly people at the DZ, the packers (first time I ever use em!), the groovt food lady, Tilted Kilt!!, the weather, the overload of PF suits flying at the boogie, the backflying flocks, the multipoint flocks, zach and butters doing LO and rocking at doing so, Robi and his bro arriving, loosing weight (forgetting to eat;), video and pizza in the bar, our cool camper/trailer... Yea...not a bad week so far...2 more days till Z flock..hows your week so far? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. At Zhills here, 14 out of 21 flockers fly shadows and phantoms...their preference is quite clear Most tested both before buying.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. X2 compares to Venom more (even Tony himself made comments in that direction). When in comes to flying speed amd performance, most people here on Zhills comparing both seem to compare them in results, yet differ in flight feeling/controll a lot. Venom and Xbird aside..V4 is a whole other animal. As you recommend in another thread..try before buying;) Floaty flying and agility are two totaly different flight envelopes...folding back wings to gain speed is a different thing than actual fast flying. YMMV JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. 19 jumps so far, and we're just getting started Did some wonderfull double formations orbiting eachother, a few bigger formations, a lot of fun backflying stuff, Ross and Gerard did some awesome backflying steps, a lot of new flyers rocking at slotflying, and the Ghost3 being the popular toy to demo on the DZ... Butters, Zach and today even Ross all doing a great effort putting groups together. Having a ball! Bring on the rest of the week....!!! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. I think thats where for most the thinking error occurs. There is a difference between a great jump, and a record. In that records should be a performance to aspire to. Regardless if thats only a max attainable 4 way or 6 way at this point in time. It is the excact hunt for 'official' records that has led to debate and doubt in all competitors mind on the accomplishments of a lot of formations that would otherwise simply be 'awesome'. In going with the gradual climb we've seen the dicipline do over the past 8 to 10 years, making sure each next step is the right one, and not skipping 10 steps in between, is key. As thats what will make official records something to aspire to. I know the 400 way FS and (100?) way freefly records currently out there demand a level of flying I can never attain. Does that make it a bad thing? Should they lower the standard? No. As it makes me want to be a better freeflyer/FS skydiver. And the fact that there is a good standard set for both diciplines, doesnt mean I cant enjoy a shitty sitfly jump or FS jumps thats all over the sky, without a single dock. I truly dont get why talking about a certain good standard we're striving for, means we should throw everything else in the (verbal) trash. There are A LOT of greys in this black and white conversation/debate, that are all to often skipped. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. All over Europe..exact locations for a lot of the spots are not mentioned that often, to prevent the over-the-top mass jumping on one location (such as the famous Swiss 'crack' after the great French video that first showed it). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Depends on jumper weight/build and skill a lot as well. There are pictures of people in tiny S-fly/Acro's flying next to Stealth2/Xbirds in (seemingly) full flight as well. Showing the same thing, only the other end of the spectrum. Bent arms vs straight arms and legs up vs a narrower stance influence ones body position a lot. Browsing through the pictures, the timing of the photo also influences the body position a lot. As in some pictures I see big suits flown with all wings open, and some tiny suits with a lot of wing collapsed. Regardless, knowing ones bodyweight one should always 'dress for succes' and pick a suit you can fly in a comfortable range. And instead of throwing everything on brands or suit models...try and narrow it down to more common factors such as weight, skill, experience and timing. Its the only way our dicipline can finaly shed the problem (not related to this picture, but the way we discuss progres in skills) Suck in freefly: you jump/train more Suck in FS/RW: you jump/train more Suck in wingsuit flying: you order a bigger suit JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. They also posted a highlight reel on YouTube. This one seems to look quite okay, though does show the image often falls 'flat' when the subjects are more than 10 to 20 ft away from the camera. Loosing the whole depth illusion. But of course the highlight reel only focuses on the close range/awesome shots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDQ3rmEeKN8 I guess thats the trade-of for the extreme wideangle they use. Needing to mount the cameras this close to keep the images alligned. With a lesser wide-angle, you can space the cameras further (eye distance gives you a depth perception of up to 40 ft or so. Going wide for large vistas or bigway stuff is also possible). Depending on what you want to shoot in 3D (close or far) it may be an easy solution, or one thats not really gonna suit your needs. 25. The example I saw also had some minor sync issues. Though they where timed properly in terms of synch start, they seemed to differ about a milisecond, and on fast moving, close range stuff definitely showed some weird strobing due to the left/right eye seeing different things..
