  1. Just use the playback on the altitrack? It logs down to the ground regardless... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. The lowest sustained numbers are around 30 to 31 mph avg. By simple math, the lowest altitude one could break 5 minutes with is 2.5 Miles of freefall/ 13200 ft (plus deployment altitude). So roughly 16.200 ft at minimum for 5 minutes. At those kind of performance levels, fatigue severly comes into play and the longer the flight is, the more freefall/altitude you will need. I pulled at around 3500 or so on that 20k jump I did, as roughly 2/3 into the jump, my arms turned into jello..the last 6000 ft or so of freefall was closer to normal freefall than it was to wingsuit flying My first part of the jump was flown very effective (+- 32 mph was the speed for the first part of the jump). Later as my arms went to shit, I got up to 50 mph speeds for the last part up to pulltime. Mike had quite a few seconds more on that same jump. He flew a more steady speed through the whole dive. So initially dropped bellow me, but around 12k or so, started visually climbing up on me. And when I was about to pull, he was still quite a bit higher than me. Good stamina will get you more time than a quick sprint on slow fallrates.. Z-flock video from 2 years ago has that 20k jump after the credits JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. I just have this weird habit of liking facts over fiction. I know some people (none here in this thread) who brag on 4 or 4,5 min jumps from 12 that come down to 14 mph sustained fallrates to make it possible. If you can read the graphs on altitudes, and name times...you can also read the fallrates. Which is what lurch is talking about. How slow can you fall, for how long! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. can people just post mph (avg/sustained all flight) so we have some actual stats to compare. Exit and deployment altitudes vary from country to dz to person...mph/avg is a much easier stat. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Avg/Sustained fallrate for the full jump and altitude is easier to compare +- 40 mph avg, 20.000 ft, 5:18 (longest jump) +- 31 mph avg, 12.000 ft, 3:19 (or something close to that time, have to look that one up). Both with Stealth2. Have done better avg with the Venom, but havent done a full alti time flight yet with that one..only brief 1km flight/alti JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Looking mighty awesome! Flying the V4 on some GPS data runs as well tomororow if weather cooperates a bit JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. I see few haters out there, but mostly people worried about your well-being. Shame you take to that with offense, and not realise the actual extent of what people are trying to tell you. What you're doing is similar to a kid fresh of AFF buying a 69 sq/ft canopy for swooping. It adds a lot of things to your jump related to complixity/dangers, and will do little for performance with the little to no experience level you showcase.. Be safe.... 8. That is correct. Ive seen him refuse orders in person before and/or recommend other suits from the PF line more fitting for a persons Wingsuit Experience. And people asking to order suit who clearly dont skydive also get information back instead of an invoice and a suit. In this case the suit was ordered through a dealer who didnt know/inform about said persons experience. The suit in question already left the factory over a month ago to the local US dealer, who seems to have misplaced it. Had it still been in the factory we could have taken on a broader advisory role towards the client. Sadly similar to ordering canopies, basegear or fast cars and motorcycles...experience can be lied about...or simply be ignored. And though I do believe any manufacturer should take care taking on an active advisory role, informing people. And also making sure in their actions with demo suits and sales to people they know, uphold the safety standard. Not putting people in suits above their experience level. I however do believe its not any manufacturers role to also be police. If someone orders a Katana 68 sq/ft canopy. He or she can do so without ever having skydived before.... Sad but true....and unless an actual police force is hired to play canopy/wingsuit nazi....its not realistic. That aside, I do hope the orginal poster forgets about this one for a long time. Aside from being way dangerous, its also a waste of money to buy any advanced suit that mandates a certain level of skill and experience to fly it. Learn to skydive. When experience enough, learn to fly a wingsuit. THAN at some point take the leap to high-end gear like this. Don't be 'that guy' who knows all the rules, knows all the info..but stil only acts on ego and impatience to get to the sky and WEAR a wingsuit, as opposed to FLYING it... 10. Thank you everyone for the great Nethers (UK) weekend A nice video should be coming soon, but couldnt resist already posting this amazing new step in wingsuit flying that took place at the DZ. Conjoined Twins go wingsuit Flying - Video Ive also posted some pictures in our FLB gallery (2011 Nethers WS Weekend, duh) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. DontfAllOff, changes of actually getting some information back (and finding out which dealer must have done something wrong, as this is WAY outside normal lead time for the V4) are A LOT larger when you just contact the company itself, instead of posting on a forum JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Counter-steering a directional turn (like you did) is just normal steering/control manouvres. You turn left faster than you like, so you steer right to counter/stop it. So in that respect indeed an obvious (but good) approach. Its flying your body. The word flatspin is mostly an big made up horror word for a normal spin/instabilty from which someone doesnt instantly recover. The thing this magic horror word does for some people, is ring mega alarm bells in their head whenever they spin a little. And unlike you thinking clearly, I turn one direction, left counter steer and fix it. Their brain goes into a panic, the body goes into shock and crawl into a fetal position, bowels are emptied, and life flashes by like a 'people are great' youtube collection of stolen videos. I truly believe for many people the word/name flatspin becomes a self-fullfilling proficy they induce when any simple spin triggers that name/response. PANICCCC! Again...any spin is just a spin. It can be an incredible fast and out of control one. But still. Just a spin/turn you could potentialy counter with normal (be it sometimes very dynamic) steering input. Only if it picks up so much momentum/force that you forget your orientation and are unable to fix it, one should start to think about actual emergency procedures. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Also a draft of the judging forms the judges will use for each round/team Judging Form JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. For all teams entering, here is a form the DZ needs so they can already put you in the system, as well as getting accurate numbers on the amount of participants. Registration.com Please fill in the form and mail it to flylikebrick@gmail.com JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. I tried discussing that earlier. As I too would like to see the exit altitude only 500 or so feet above competition altitude, and not seeing diving allowed. But it mostly depends on what you want to do. Have a competition with a fun added element that can either help, or screw you up in terms of results (diving into comp altitude, flaring to soon/late). Or is the PPC competition a tool to find 'true' Glideratio. If the later is the case, than 'the dive' should be taken out. But most competitors seem to like the diving for the added excitement and influence it may have on your score. Though those same competitors often seem to miss the capacity to actually define it as such...and usually quote the results as the actual glide for a certain suit or model. With wind being another added variable, I for one (now) do think the dive is a fun aspect that should be kept in. Similar to swooping, its an added thing to practice and work on. Otherwise it would degrade the flying to holding one static position the whol way... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Actually glide and lift are effected by weight in the PPC style jumps. A person with a lot of weight, will get much more speed out of his dive prior to flaring into comp altitude. A person with more weight wil enter the comp altitude with a lot more momentum/force thats transferable to lift/glide JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Its like sex....speed and glide is where its at JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Whatever personal grudge you have, little of what you wrote above adds anything valuable to the discussion..... its the kind of lessons in life that some teach with vigor, as they experienced the results of bad training or a poor or unfortunate decission themselves... Its easy to sit in a chair and judge from the safe anonymous position in front of a keyboard. It takes a bigger man to stand up, show your mistakes and see if they can be used to improve teaching and instruction in general. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. I heard Giovanni got some really nice results in the trackinground as well (3.5 glide in his brand new V4). But he was trying to get ahold of the file to upload it to the paralog website... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. Do you like driving a truck or a Ferarri I know which one gives me the biggest smile... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Yea...as most countries do that adhere to international aviation standards...ignoring Swiss/Germans/Frenchies etc of course JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. As others also mention...just upload it to paralog (even with the free version you can do this), so its a clearer and more readable graph/results. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Seeing as you have the data in paralog. Press 'submit' so its uploaded to the paralog website at www.paralog.net/ppc/ Its always long stories with most claims, but never any actual data. Dont be another show-off with empty claims. Upload some actual data... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Around 2 to 2.5 seems to be the overal avg. in performance, even for the best flyers. Currently a lot of people quote peak vallues of their best jump, with a lot of wind in the back, and come up with 3.5 glide ratios etc for marketing reasons. But looking at sustained glide, I think 2.5 seems to be roughly what most people get. With some people pushing it to 3.0. But if thats skill, suit performance or just wind....its always hard to tell. When people feel the need to quote amazing data, mention 'no wind' but not present the actual data...usually you know its BS JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
