I think the actual climbing to 12000 takes about 10 to 15 minutes or so (depending on who's flying)....then 5 minutes or so to get back down, taxi/load new jumpers/take-off (20 minute stick-times) Sucks being called a turbine-whore, even though you're squashed in a tin can with 6 people (+ pilot) :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Our DZ has a 206 Turbine, it climbs pretty quick....About 20 mins to 12,5 I think... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

software is confusing...I want to go back to film Where editing is done with a pair of sciccors and tape Just saw some footage shot by a friend on 8mm and 16mm (super16) with a new emulsion by kodak...amazing colors...(and kick-ass 150 fps slowmo's..beats the shit out of any digital camera) I'd love to shoot some stuff on film again...waay cooler then DV...its the last format where there's still some magic left in the process... Not that I'd want to ever edit anything 'analogue' again...I love the controll and speed of diginat editing....but still..:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

That's also the case in most Dutch skydiving demo's. 2500 ft is the lowest legal pull altitude here. But somehow Red Bull always manages to get clearence for these kind of 'stunts' (there have been some Red Bull low-pull demo's before, that also seemed to be 100% legal in terms of organisation) Maybe someone more into the Dutch rules (BVR) knows if this min. 2500 ft pull altitude is just KNVvL (Dutch USPA) regs, and arranging a NOTAM and city permits (and jumping 'outside' KNVvL) frees you from these regs? Or is 2500 ft min. opening altitude a general rule that applies to all skydiving actions? (Saskia? jij bent hier een goed in?) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I know the differences between the earlyer and pro versions (use premiere/encore/after effects a lot) But I was specificly wondering if there are diffrences between Premiere Pro 7.0 (that was probably only available in some countries for a short time) and the renamed version...Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0 We started at 4.2, and upgraded through Adobe to Premiere 5, Premiere 6/6.5 and then went to Premiere Pro 1.0 and 1.5 after that... We never got/saw a version pro 7.0...I was wondering what that version was like.. Are Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0 and Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0 the same program and just a clever marketing-rename by adove...or also (slighly) different programs..? (looong post just to satisfy one persons curiosity..I know) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I saw this older post of mine Just thought it was cool...learnt to fly a bit better since januari :) 12000 ft > 3000 ft takes me up to 2:10 now Funny how I was soo frustrated in the beginning, trying to fall slow (and using my wingsuit almost as a round parachute...just trying to cup air like a madman)..and after flying with others much, much more..times started coming down in small baby-steps...almost automatic.... And even though everyone here already sayd that a bazillion times...I think everyone probably starts out stuborn...and just focussus on going slooooww in the beginning

I was at the Dutch edition of the Red Bull AirRaces today (Airplane Aerobatics show/contest), and to my surprise, they started the show with a wingsuit demo. Ueli Gegenschatz jumped from a chopper at 3000 ft (with luve audio contact with the chopper over the PA system) and flew his wingsuit (Looked like an S-Fly) 'into town', opening at what seemed about 500 ft or so. Way smooth flight...really slow in terms of falling-speed, gently flying forward... There where about 70.000 people watching (big event) if I heard the announcer correctly. The crowd around me seemed more impressed with this wingsuit-demo then they did with the entire airshow that followed According to the announcer (Jack van Gelderen, a Dutch sports commentator) the jumper flying a Wing-Chute was only the start of the Aerobics show Who needs good information when you have people like him telling you all the details hahaha Way cool to see this.....for me it was the first time I actualy saw a wingsuit opening up-close from the ground...

Our official updates went from 6.5 to version 1.0..that's why I asked... Some friends of mine mentioned having 7.0 while they had actualy just (downloaded) Pro 1.0 The progression Premiere Pro 7.0>Premiere Pro 1.0>Premiere Pro 1.5 just made no sense to me... Maybe they released a 7.0 only for a short while and decided to rename it. I see some sites such Amazon lis premiere pro 7.0 (with the text 'replaced by Premiere Pro 1.0') So it's probably just some marketing renaming thing Yours was actualy the first I've ever seen of 7.0 Any differences with Premiere Pro 1.0 that you know of? Premiere 6.5 was the last in the normal numbered premiere series and then they started over with Premiere Pro 1.0. We've been upgrading our software every time adobe came with a new version, and they never mentioned anything about a version 7 Unless you have wierd beta version..but commercialy I don't think a premiere 7.0 has ever been available. Premiere 6.5>Premiere Pro 1.0 (and 1.5 after that) I think a lot of people started calling their program Adobe Premiere 7.0 due to the fact that a lot of P2P download programs accidently labeled Adobe Premiere Pro 1.0 as "Premiere Pro 7" and a lot of Software review sites actualy started listing this too... Don't want to turn this into a warez or download debate....just curious If I missed anything.....and the startup screen of your premiere realy says "Premiere 7"? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

How well does one of these 'hanging' rodeo's fly (compared to a 'normal' rodeo?). What speed/distance are you getting? Anyone ever try a backflying rodeo (passenger sitting on your 'tool'?) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Yea..I enjoyed that! Especialy the barrelrolls and stuff....quite often video's of wingsuiters 'just' show people flying and grinning....this is much more exciting to watch on video.. Cool stuff..and groovy editing! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

A few posts about this subject have been made here before, but they we're already dating back 2 to 3 years....so I thought I'd ask again.. What Altitude do you and/or your friends pull on wingsuit dives? (not counting base) Most people I know (who have 100+ wingsuit dives) open at a 'normal' 3000 ft, and concider it okay/normal. And looking back at the dives made at the Hercules Boogie 2004, we werent even allowed to open higher then 3000 ft, and everyone was okay with that....and pulling at that altitude I still saw people doing canopy flyby's When you look at base, you actualy sometimes see people doing lower pulls at 'terminal' then would not be possible/survivable without a wingsuit... There are a lot of pro's and cons for pulling at 'normal' altitude in a wingsuit-skydive.. pro: - We have a slower fallrate - when opening in full flight we burn up less altitude due to the forward speed (I notice a big difference compared to normal freefall openings on my spectre) - a reserve procedure is exactly the same as normal (no need to cut wings first, you can reach your handles) cons: - you have the suit to deal with, and it may restrict you in some ways (kicking out a twist), a big deal especialy on smaller canopies. - wearing the suit affects some people, in terms of adding a lot of stress/fear to the jump. Especialy true on the first dozen or more jumps. What Altitude do you usualy pull...? And if you pull high(er)...what's the reason? If you are still in your first few jumps...would you open 'lower' if you have a few jumps more..? And at what altitude do you see people around you open? And maybe an added question...if you are going to a Boogie, and pulling aboven 3000 ft is not allowed (like the Herc Boogie 04) would you stay on the ground? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

We've recently gotten a decent budget to shoot a short film (not skydiving related, sorry) We're shooting it on HDV and the final result wil be transfered to 35 mm (film). The tests we've seen (shot out to film) look incredible, and withstand the comparison with footage shot on 35mm. In terms of color and clarity , it actualy looked better then the Panasonic HD pro-sumer camera that's already out there (that's supposedly better) nerdy stuff : What's quite cool is that, you can also decide to shoot interlaced (25 fps PAL/30 fps NTSC), and due to the higher resolution of HDV, splice the fields appart into 50 fps PAL/60 fps NTSC DV footage, that looks as good (or even better) then what you'd get out of your normal DV camera's. So fluid slowmo's are possible when working with an end result at DV res.(if your final product is going to be DVD anyways) We're also doing a lot of specialeffects work, which is cool, because you have way better resolution then DV, but digital files to work with (and expensive extra step, film>digital transfer is no longer needed) We're buying a a Sony HDV (PAL version) for this production. In time, we'll probably also give it a try in the air. we'll post a review as soon as we have it. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
So long story short...the resolution is always the same....no matter what type of camera...whenever you record to standard mini-DV...your end signal will have the same resolution... the lenses/ccd only determine the sharpness/quality of that final image... Unless you really want to go all out, and buy a Sony HDV (1440x768 25 fps PAL widescreen resolution..) or Panasonic HD camera... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Past weekend, we made some cool wingsuit-jumps at Skydive Zeeland (NL) Normaly the DZ only has a C182, but last week they had a lovely Cessna Caravan, and 13.000 ft jumps. Some cool RW, Freeflying and tracking dives where done, but more important...we did a lot of wingsuit dives! Tristan and I made the first wingsuit jump ever on the DZ (They hadn't seen any Penguins before...) After that, Hans Polak (the 'white knight') and Anouk with her permanent-smile (Never managed to take a photo or video of her without an ear to ear grin) joined in for some flocking. Anouk's 300th jump was a wonderfull 3 way... I attached a few photo's from that jump to this post All others can be found at http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~fxcordia/photo/05_may_zeeland Sunday-morning started with a 15.000 ft jump, and some cool flocking with J-Lo (who couldn't resist dropping in, while on his way back from Empuria Brava). We had some fun doing rotations (hopping over/under each-other) and gave a few tandem-passengers a great visual after break-off... Local camera-man Tom made his first 2 birdman jumps, and was already thinking about buying his own suit... All in all...a great (4 day) weekend...with awesome parties at night (student protec helmets are probably not ment to be the only clothing you wear...perry would be proud!) and great friendly people on the dropzone.. The view in Zeeland is amazing...islands below you...the sea on your side...and sunny skies, and puffy clouds to play with.. If you're from Holland or Belgium...I strongly suggest coming to one of the next caravan weekends... www.skydive-zeeland.nl for more info.. Blue Skies...Hot Dives! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
