Most people found a sad e-mail in their in-box the past few days. The Hercules Boogie 2006 has been canceled. Basically because of lack of Hercules. This could very well have been the biggest wingsuit boogie ever (filling up a complete herc load with birdman would have been a bomb, especially with the rising skill-levels in terms of formation flying that we've seen the past year) There might be a boogie in 2007....but for 2006.....no such thing...quite sad to here...and then again...a bit fitting. Adrian Nicholas was for a large part the key person at the Boogie in the years before, delivering wonderful speeches, tips in Combat/Kung-Fu style Hercules Exits, and lessons in the humorous Swedish language... With him gone, the boogie would have felt empty...no longer a white &green jumpsuit carving around the bigways..no longer his smile all over the DZ the entire day...and no chance to ever flock with the man who flew alongside Patrick Deug. as modern wingsuiting was born.. The Hercules Boogie will never be the same... Lets hope we may see a new, but different Hercules Boogie in 2007.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

After exit you'll be short on speed, compared to the plane. Best is to have the pilot make a slight, slow turn, en slighly dive. That way you'll be able to cut the corner, diving, so you'll pick up speed and you'll be able to match the speed of the airplane. Depending on how wel you fly you can fly relative to the plane. A wonderfull example can be seen in Jeb's demoreel, that's on skydivingmovies.com (it's about halfway through the short film, a white/red porter if I remember correctly) The plane is really flying, and he is coming alongside. Also try and find Degayardon's footage, where he flies back into the airplane (both p.porters btw) In those cases, the wingsuiter is really flying relative to the plane, and could fly back in if he/she wanted to (as Deug did) But another option is to have the pilot dive, and just have him keep turning towards you. This comes down to pilot skill (and madness much more) The speeds wil be insane, and it's quite easy to see that this could go horribly wrong. A good example of 'diving' along with the plane can be seen in this video (about halfway through) http://www.bird-man.com/video/mccordia_ws_springweek05.wmv Do be carefull, because it's quite easy for a too eager pilot to make you go splat on the windscreen :) It's as Charlie Sheen sayd in the film Navy Seals....for god sakes.....be carefull out there...! Way cool stuff.. The 2way base flocking is incredible :) Showed it to some collegues at work and they decided that skydiving was silly, but they'd love to try those wingsuits (along with a snowboard :) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think thats the biggest improvent (next to the suits actualy flying better:) The new line of suits from BM is the first time I've heard fellow (non WS) jumpers say about any WS that it looks cool instead of nerdy. They used to call me penguin and funny names like that, but since Ive gotten my S3S, they suddenly call me 'the bat'.... Definately an improvement..:) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Premiere: Audio Static on Export to AVI??
mccordia replied to weegegirl's topic in Photography and Video
Changing it after you captured video already doesnt fix the problem.. Just always start a completely new project at 48000 khz and you should never have the problem again.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think the decicion to leave the leg-snaps from newer suits probably came from the feedback on those snaps with all GTi's/S3's. It might just be us clumsy dutch folks, but I've seen quite a few suits with the snaps torn of. With the S3 I always put the legwing through the vent-hole between the legs, but with the Phi (no hole) and the S3S (rigid wings that are to stiff to put it through the hole, or hook it up onto snaps) that's not an option. the LQRS has velcro, since it never has to come of, but the arm-wings have the new toggle system right? Maybe put a copy on skydivingmovies.com with a link to his site? Otherwise someone might be in for a huge bandwith surprise at the end of the month... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Suit looks like a Matter2 (maybe 3) I'll ask Anthony if he could get Gino to give a short desciption of what went wrong. But it looks like he can't locate his pilot, and he looks down (a bit to much) which cause a frontloop. During which he luckely locates his pilot and pulls. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

More low pulling (with a twist)! Thanx to Anthony and Gino (who asked Anthony to put it online) Scary shit!! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

UK/NL High Altitude Wingsuit Boogie (Texel)
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The Island Boogie was a blast! Andy (PSP) Ford did load-organising/coaching and brought a few UK wingsuiters.,We joined in with a few Dutch flockers and flew cool formations, learned a ton of new things and had a ton of laughs! I'll post the video later (sadly I'm a bit busy with a few other video projects that need to be finished first) But for now, here's some stills (sorry about the small size) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think some DZ's also look at the 'image' someone has... If you're a known 'troublemaker', they probably won't allow you certain things easyer then when you're known as a picture-perfect-ahead-of-the-(istheresuchathing)-curve jumper who's always safe and performing really well... Several people mentioned different reasons, but the only good solution would be a calm talk with the people in charge and ask then why you can or can't jump, and then see if you can find a solution together....be it another DZ...be it waiting...be it bribes/presents... At Texel we had a wonderfull Birdman Weekend, and one Finish guy (Ern/Urn or something like that) showed up in a bright orange Firebird. He lead a flock on his back (only his 4th jump in the suit) and flew a nice steady 65 mph the entire dive. The suit flew well and all wings were fully pressurized while backflying, he did comment on tired arms. I'll post the whole video and/pics next week.. *EDIT* just realized that it's actualy you I was talking about Erno hehehe JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The best way to burn something to DVD is to take as few steps recompressing footage as possible. Even though it's digital, you will lose quality with everytime you recompress to another format (unless you're working with uncompressed video :P) When I export something from Premiere using the included encoder, at MPG2, 7 MB/S, double pass encoding the quality is perfect (when compared to the source material) I don't see what encoding to QT adds to the process (unless you're using a burning program like Nero to do the encoding to MPG2 for the final DVD maybe) small ps. People also often call quicktime and avi the format they write to, but rarely people specify which codec they actualy use.. Both formats have about a bazillion different compressors to choose from..some of those wil do no good to your quality, others wil be great....but just telling someone 'compress it to quicktime' is hardly giving anyone information they can use.. The motion-problems refered to in the post above occor when you shoot on HD, a different format then HDV. HD is 24 fps and at 1920 x1080 (non-interlaced) It's mostly ment for cinema/features, and often transfered to 35 mm film for a final screening print.. But that aside.. I recently got to do a (non skydiving) project involving footage shot on HDV, and it simply looks amazing. A de-interlaced still-frame looks like it came from a good digital photo-camera. The color-information is also much better preserved then in DV/DV-Cam footage, which makes keying/effects (such as blue/green screen) much easer..(especialy if you're going for an end result on broadcast-res) Even when converted back to normal DV/Broadcast res, the colors and sharpness way surpass anthing that you could get out of any normal consumer DV camera (1 or 3 chip) I've heard of several people knowing someone that knows his friends sisters' mothers' aunt who has a nephew that's going to jump one anytime soon..but has anyone actualy jumped it yet? I know how the footage looks, I'm just curious how the camera handles the abuse in freefall (in terms of skips and hickups/bumps) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Dropzones and people in charge not knowing anything about BM jumping can cause problems sometimes as they make their own rules, based on what they asume, think and fear.... Quite sad.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

It's a buddy of mine, Jean-Louis, and he scored a small crate with a dozen of those canisters. They are Marine/Navy smoke-canisters (as you mentioned). Just one is bright/thick enough to be seen from the ground (scroll to the ending of this video to see it in use) They burn for +- 5 minutes.. Quite hot, so carefull with chute/lines falling on it after landing... I think Bo Weinberg used the same ones at the Herc boogie(?) Don't fly behind someone in the smoke, tastes like sh*t :P JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I almost forgot to ask.. Back when the first pics emerged people were asking about the single zipper. Now that folks have flown it....how is the suit 'to get into'? Easyer or harder then the former standard 2 zipper front? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
