We also saw this a few times at the Hercules Boogie in 2004... But looking back, most torn wings where probably the result of people jumping out presenting their body to the wind 'standing up', instead of jumping into the wind flying. So the 200 knt 'blast' of wind hits the wing on the bottom and slams onto your body, and the jumper gets a big blast of wind, and gets pushed way, way back....instead of the wind hitting it in on the leading edge, generating lift, and getting you flying/climbing and pushing you up... When you exit 'standing up' the wind is just a 200 knt wall that slams into your wings... There is some great footage from the hercules boogie, where you see vesa climbing above the hercules, filmed from a jet-fighter flying alongside the plane. And you can clearly see that the people getting lift from the exit are at a 45 degree to maybe even flatter angle. Where the people exiting upright just get pushed back.. I've made a small sketch to illustrate.. The whole Herc DVD will be put online in a few weeks, and it has a long segment with great and totaly fubar-exits from the plane. Great stuff for both 'studying' and laughing and being amazed.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. The nice militairy officer didnt enjoy us landing at the base that much But all in all he was quite friendly and took us (Roel, Tristan and me)back to the dropzone so we could make the next load Must remember to look where we're going while backflying JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. I have 2 HD's that have both USB2 and firewire, but they both won't pass on firewire connections while connected to the pc through USB. That sucks... Do you know if that also goes for external HD's with firewire+network-capability? But a side question...I don't know about MACs, but for PC's a seperate card with a firewire slot only costs 15 bucks or so... Can't you just slot in a firewire-card on your Mac as well? Or is the motherboard without extra slots? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. With the replaceable wings, it also looks to be a suit that wont cost you an arm and a leg every time the designers come up with something new. You'd just buy a cheeper set of new wings, and attach them to the known framework you already own.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Or buy a good external Hard-Drive 40/80/250 GB harddrives are not that expensive anymore, and you can hook em up to your pc via USB, but most have a firewire input on the drive itself.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Dude...carefull what you ask over the internet.. My rig is away for a repack, but I'll take a snapshot of it as soon as I get it back (saterday) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Just my 0.2 Eurocents, but this thought is probably connected with several factors - small market - high production/development costs - people need to eat, you cant run a company if you're not making profit (big or small) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. A buddy of mine has an Icon container and it has a 'normal' freefly pud With 'normal' I mean a completely attached pud, (bird-man-suitable would be the term you're looking for probably) Not attached at the bottom of your pilot by a cord like a pull-out pud like Gus' I've never seen one of those up-close...I think most new containers/pilots have a 'correct' freefly-pud (mine also does) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Premiere always exports to tape when using the 'export to tape' feature, but within the settings, there is also some stuff about playback via the firewire in editing-mode (and if it plays sound via your camera or via your pc and thingies like that) If you haven't configured premiere to 'always' export video via your firewire, then that could be the reason it's no working.. Otherwise> leave a 10 or 20 second gap in front of your video, and use the export to tape feature. This 20 second gap will allow your stand-alone dvd burner more then enought time to get a signal.. Or you just have a screwy stand-alone burner, in which case you should burn it or throw it from a plane at 12K :p JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. I've upoaded a video of the jumps we made over Germany with a small group of Dutch flyers, at the end of last month. Download Flyers: Tristan: Red/Black/Yellow S3 Roel: Red/Orange S3 Anouk: Blue/White Classic J-Lo: Black/Red S3S Myself: (same) Black/Red S3 And the pilot, wearing a Red/White Pilatus Porter And (not wingsuit related) our new Burning Stuntmen Team promo JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. A friend of mine made a realy nice one by fixing a quick-release with a home-made bracket onto a specialy bought pair of shoes (so he can click the camera off before landing, and prevent what you see happening to Loics camera in his last wingsuit flight at skydivingmovies.com...merde! hehe ) He uses a remote on a cable to operate his photocam or special cam-eye for video. http://www.paraclub.nl/files/imagegallerymodule/@random42a318460a877/gallery1/crw3_1_.jpg http://www.paraclub.nl/files/imagegallerymodule/@random42a318460a877/gallery1/crw2_1_.jpg You could try giving him a call or mail, and ask for some pictures of the setup, or maybe even see if he could make one for you? PM me for his mail-addy JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. dude, you seriously need to start working out !!!!!!!!!!!!! Or spend more time surfing dirty websites....my right hand never fails on pull-time... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Mine is attached the the piloy-chute over the whole length of the pud, so no snag-option there.... Never had any trouble pulling also (also something I heard a few people claim about 'freefly-puds') I like it a lot over a normal hackey (is that the correct term) when it comes to backflying and such...nothing that can catch wind and pull my pilot out... (quite curious to the neck-breaking aerobatic style-series you'd perform if your chute opened while backflying) But Gus' freefly pub does look like something snag-able yea... Otherwise, fumble around with your bridle and pilot a bit (on the ground, duh:P) and see if you can manage to snag anything...? That might be the best test? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry...... Seems like no matter how many episodes you watch, it always come down to this in the end... Could we just ignore this developing flame-war and get back to the WFFC and cool pictures? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. uuhm....not to be rude or anything....but uhm.....wheres the video... I'll be here...waiting for you all night Just kidding ofcource...but MAN would I love to see some vid of your flights....!! Just because I only jump em from planes, doesnt mean I don't get turned on by some good video... VIDEEEOOOOOOO, VIDEOOOOO..okay...the voices tell me it's time to shut up now JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. 'us gents' are going to try and swing by! What's the planning for the weekend? Mad flocking, or also freeflying/RW and other (non-winged)stuff? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Adobe Premiere is an editing program and doesnt have all the fancy features you find in specific image/video manipulation packages. If you want to manipulate footage, use After Effects (which has time-ramping in every which way imaginable...with numbers..curves...everything!!) If you're using slowmo's in a normal video, for 99% of the time a normal hard cut to a slowmo works perfect...unless its some matrix-y timeramp effect you're after ofcource...then After Effects/Combustion etc. is your program of choice.. Untill someone actualy post hard GPS data, this is all too much of a guess (as far as V1/S3S comparisons) and the same thing goes for a lot of the newer suits... I have no problem 'believing' one thing or another...but actualy 'knowing it' would be better JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. From being there last year (no base-related..I'm a pussy) The tower was in use as a TV station, but closed after a big fire, and was never officialy put back into use... Don't know what it was before that? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Scan it! (and you UK dudes stil planing on invading Holland lator thisch year?) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. You can fly in a 'maxed out' position, and still go straight down. It depends on the angle of attack..which can be anything from completely flat to almost headdown.. Although I do agree that the mid section of the slope looks like more then 45 degrees...the skiers seem to be standing quite normal, where you'd definatly be leaning to one side a lot if it was 45 degrees... 22. I was hoping for a cool 'ass-photo of craig' Dissapointed to hear thats not what you ment JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  24. I've used premiere to capture NTSC and PAL footage, both from my normal (PAL) Sony PC8 In premiere, capture settings there is an option called device controll, where you can specify if your capture device is NTSC or PAL. I used NTSC settings and then captured of my PAL cam (NTSC tape) without problems. Some camera's also have an internal option for NTSC playback, in terms of how they handle the firewire signal (browse through the settings of your cam) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. I usualy just plug it into my PC, put premiere on a black (blanc) frame, and then just hit record on my cam. It then records perfect silence and black video. I usualy try to capture all jumps after a weekend of jumping, and export then to my compilation tapes (tandem/wingsuit etc) so I can then empty the orinal tapes I used that day (and still have all jumps stored on DV, but without a ton of ground stuff, just exits to opening) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
