  1. I've just gotten back home too (jumping into my bed now with the already famous bunk-house-flue) Made 44 jumps at the boogie (in 8 days) and had an awesome time. Learned to go headdown with the babylon peeps and Darren's help, did some cool wingsuit flights and flew with a bunch of cool people. There isnt one jump or one evening where I would have wanted to be anywhere else...Watching Tim Porter carve around every type op jump possible..tracking, atmo, bigway RW jumps...it was damn cool...and during the week got warmer and warmer..I had a blast! Darren made a great video which he will hopefully upload when he's at home (and feeling a bit better also), and I've also got some nice wingsuitstuff from the boogie that I'll try and post asap. Everyone at the boogie....It was amazing....I'm also forgetting a ton of names..but Sarah..It was great slaloming back from the Kiwi with you! Always! Darren...you rock...jumping together was fun, fun, fun....Dave and buddies (sorry..I'm bad with names)...you guys are nasty, and great drinkers too...thanx for the ant-farm..that was awesome..Lee...you should be doing stand-up comedy..and jumping with you...either wingsuit or goggle-less-freeflying is always good! And thanx a million for that ride to the airport! Saskia and David..thanx for the cool photo's..didnt have any good ones yet, and you both gave me more then I could have ever asked for...you rock! And I could just go on and on about the boogie...had such a great time..I met so many people that made a big impression on me..some more then others Cant wait to get back there and continue the party...who said skydivers cant dance...we totaly tore the place down on new years eve...(at least I did..a dozen or so drinks with my elbow) And Jeffrey made sure nobody ever looks at Santa/Xmas hats in the same way again..and Vicky..Happy Birthday again! Your party was awesome! Even though that santa guy at the door kept calling us hohoho's!! And jumping with Wolf from Babylon was amazing! and...and...and.... Big hug/cool handshake for everyone (depending on if you're a hot girl or a cool dude!) Cya guys soon...and try and do the Island-Boogie thing, and come to Texel coming spring/summer a few times!! 2. So far havent missed one day of jumping...bit windy 1 or 2 days...but nothing we cant manage...Empuria rocks! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. I'm here in Empuria, having a ball with all the wingsuit-freaks (got a full day of flocking planned for tomorrow) We just watched SoulFlyers2 yesterday...and the amount of mountain-swooping in the video makes your jaw drop! F*CK the mountain swoop from part one...LOIC IS DODGING TREES IN PART 2!! It's simply amazing...and the serverely cut down on all the 'normal' base video, and 99% is wingsuits! Loic jumps ACCES from a cliff...and I tell ya....the flying he does in that suit is INCREDIBLE!! If nobody told you what suit it was, seeing the smoke trail and the speed you'd guess S3 or V1.. You want to see this...definately!! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Everybody have fun on Xmas and New Years Eve!!! Many cool and safe jumps for 2006! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Any video online yet? Aside from some misc exits and photos here and there there's not much to be seen of the GS1 yet, and I know a lot of people are eager to see it fly (in motion) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. big-way and completion to be held in Stupino Russia. Dates: June 22-25, 2006 Flying there is easyest...and there are a few people/agencies that can help you in arranging everything (VISA/FlIGHT/STAY) We are thinking about actualy going there a week early, so we can do some pre-jumping/partying...(arriving 17 june) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Meh... I don't really like the S3S system. The velcro at least stays in place in the original design. When I'm not wearing it, the top stiffner stays nicely underneath the tabs, but when I have the suit on, the tabs are spaced a lot wider and the stiffner sort of hangs out. Sure, it stays in place but it just looks messy and unreliable. Cheers, Costyn. Yea..I saw that in the airplane....but check mine next time we jump...It really seems to differ from person to person. You could ofcource just take the bottom tab off, and just sew a small piece of velcro on there....that would just make it your old trusty system again... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. I'm also quite happy with mine. Never had any problems with loops coming out or anything, and I like the lack of velcro... But I've also seen people that managed to get one out on almost every move they made... But when I started, I needed to get my cables back in before every jump cause I somehow kept roding them out of the loops (probably also by moving a bit in the plane..) 9. DUDE!! Who cares about practical issues!! I JUST WANT THE BIG MOFO CHOPPER! Who cares JUMP THE BIG ONE! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Anyone know anything about http://www.pressurized.at/ coming out with their own wingsuit design anytime soon? Heard some talk here and there..... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. Just don't do any Herc style 'climb above the chopper' exits, as there is a big fan above your head that wil cut you a few inches shorter But damn...that would be so totaly awesome.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  13. Got my 2K FF2 last week....made my first few jumps with it this past weekend... The fit is amazingly comfortable and it's wonderfully snug on my head. The finish on the helmet is the best you could expect... No matter what you choose, but with 2K, you're definately going to be pleased with their product.... Nothing but praise! 14. I dont do that because I have trouble eating the free peanuts in the airplane with my chincup on tight JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Once everybody has tasted the difference in quality...it WILL become a standard hehehe JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Sorry...Mention anything on animation, editing, windmills, cheese or vegetable oil and naked ladies and I can't resist getting technical on your ass JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Most (if not all) DV cameras have a widescreen 'setting' in the menu. They do not actualy shoot widescreen (in terms of having a wider CCD or an anamorphic lens) but they crop your image and store it in 16:9 on a DV tape. You do 'win' a little quality in terms of the DV compression this way, but your CCD is still only 4:3 and just crops off the top and bottom 99% of all DV camera's have a 4:3 CCD. You can also choose to crop in post (editing) which has the advantage of being able to move your 4:3 image up and down behind the bars for better framing. And you still have the option of using it in a 4:3 video (since you have a full frame to work with) The only cams that shoot true 16:9 (with the CCD being in that format/aspect ratio) is the new HDV range from Sony (and a few other brands are coming out with HDV's now..all shooting 16:9) HDV works the other way around, and is soo good in terms of resolution that you can crop the 16:9 video to 4:3 video (non wide-screen) and still have the full resolution to work with (and even do progressive scan, which means no interlaced fields) The 4:3 crop for DV export is an option on the 'expensive' HDV cameras. 18. Hmm, I've been doing a lot of backflying and flapping (backflapping?), maybe I need to keep an eye on my legwing from time to time. Where exactly did the tear occur? It was only a 1 cm tear that occured where the wing is attached to the leg. There is a small piece of re-inforcement/binding-tape there that attaches the legwing to the leg. The small tear happened exacly on the stitches of the binding tape. I've been keeping an eye on my s3s, but it seems to have way less issues with flapping due to the mylar inforcement ribs.. 19. I bought a motorcycle bag for my new FF2 yesterday. Cost me 16 euros. It perfectly fits my camera-helmet has a soft padded inside and doesn't look as funky as carrying a loose helmet (and less subject to damaging when stored in the overhead storage-compartments in the plane) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Same here, also roughly 100 jumps on the suit..only damage so far was a tiny tear in the legwing (due to flapping while backflying) But in terms of fabric and zippers etc. it still looked the same at 100 jumps as it did on the 1st one. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. this makes it sound like he pulled really low, like under 1000ft low? or have you just not seen very short canopy rides? I've seen verry short canopy rides when talking about BASE, but in normal skydiving I concider being in the sadle below 1000 ft 'short' yea. The shortest I've seen in a skydive that was planned as a pull at 3000 ft kinda thing... Yes..(I did a full pin-check on him, and vice-versa) Holland is quite flat...so there's no real f*ckups to be had in turning it on with differences in ground/elevation. So I gues...yea...it was set correctly... He pulled around 1000 ft (alti visable in video) and was in the sadle at around 900/800ft or so..(opened up in a twist) So he didn't quite make the activation altitude...but definately skimmed the edges... Whats 'funny' is that even when looking at the video, you get no real 'ground-rush' que that the ground is getting closer and closer... *edit to add* The flyer is also a base-jumper, which might also account for less 'fear' of low altitude..?? 22. That depends on where you plan to stick the lens JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. The story: Sunset 2 way, already a year ago or so, but we where supposed to go to 10.000 ft, but due to a holding it became 6.000. I was being video-ed and photographed so I did some smiling, tried backflying for a sec to look cool (lost a few feet in the process) turned over to my belly and went the other way to open my canopy (open somewhere around 3000 ft or so) The guy filming me lost me during my backfly attempt (between 5000/4000 ft somewhere) as I did a sort of 180 the other way in my transition. He then spent the rest of his dive looking for me. Not paying attention to his altitude...He was not wearing any type of dytter, so he just flew....and flew....and flew....And I was under my canopy...watching him go deep......long.....deep...and deeper....Up untill the point where I almost thought he was never going to open. He suddenly realized he was getting low when he started getting windmills in the corner of his eye and deployed straight away. One of the shortest canopy rides I've witnessed....that's for sure.. It struck me ass odd, cause even though I have a dytter...I make a lot of wingsuit dives without one (just my naked head and a pear of goggles) and always keep checking my alti through-out the dive...(unless maybe bigger slotted flocking jumps, where some people do rely on other jumpers and your dytter for breakoff sometimes) But he flew an entire jump without ever checking his altitude untill he was near (what he thought) was opening-time...the different exit altitude got him...luckily his cypress didnt fire.... Even though we fly...the ground still gets a centimeter closer with every inch we move forward....keep track of you altitude JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. I wasn't talking about an intentional low deployment, or a smart action either... Witnissed a jumped fly way, WAY down low...lost altitude awareness...and luckely didnt activate his cypress with that action (and yes, going straight for his reserve would probably ALSO have been smarter in that situation...) But what I mean is...people make mistakes....and we can either learn from it, or laugh about it and call them stupid a**holes...I prefer the 1st.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. I know a skydiver who was flying good enough NOT to not have his cypress fire while being too low..? All jokes aside...whats the point in 'someone being too stupid'? It seems the only answer you're looking for his 'yea...this guy...hahaha, he's stupid' There are better ways of asking something if it's constructive criticism you want to give....
