I had a minor incident last weekend. I was speeding up to someone (hans aka gadget) and wanted to film him on my back from slighly lower/to the side. I went onto my back while still in a sharp turn, and instead of a smooth transition I got swung around like someone grabbed my legs and gave em a push/swing. I immidiately felt it picking up speed and going out of control. I balled up straight away and rotated belly to earth and flew out of it withour problems..I only made a single 360 turn on my back, but could really feel that it was picking up speed. The force I felt while turning was heavy...like I sayd..if someone suddenly swings you around by your legs.. Not properly opened up armwings and a fully open legwing, and doing the transition while in a diving turn was probably what caused it.... Balling up worked fine and almost directly stopped the turn... It felt like it lasted quite a few seconds, but on (my pov.) video it just looks like a quick turn while back to earth... I think in most instances it's the legwing, acting like a rotorblade...with your body and arms being the heavy-'no lift' point around which it rotates... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

According to the Dutch safety board (SIRE) BASEJUMPING is safer then using fireworks. The have a new series of adds on TV, and this years commercial is centered around 'more accidents hapen every year with fireworks then with.....(insert several X-sports here)' Who cares about statistic safety...it's all about absolute numbers... Check the commercial at http://www.extreme-fireworks.nl/ It's dutch, but go to the site, and then click 'commercials' on the left, and then choose the first one (with the building) Tshirt line: Basejumping, safer then lighting a firecracker! Anyone have any idea what kind of speeds (downward) are done during spins like this. Would a cypress be activated, or does the spin (and the amount of surface exposed) generate such drag/lift that you stay out of the activation-range? In short, would a passed out (or freaked-out, dizzy) wingsuiter, spinning like mad be 'saved' by a cypress if he/she was working on 'trying to get stable for the rest of their life' JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

your GF wil also quite like the tongue-switch option in the long-run I used a tongue switch but now prefer bite and blow switch, because (for me) I manage to get more pictures in per jump, and they have more of a 'click' action/feel. Where with the tongue switch, I had a hard time 'feeling' if I actualy took the picture... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

All the snagadelic parts on the slighly more espensive cam (A1E in EU) such as the XLR audio block and sun-hood are seperate pieces that can be attached/detached without problems, so in terms of body the cameras arent that different.. As far as the CCD goes, both the small cams have the same one. Only difference is the extra parts you get along with it, and for a large part the software on the camera. The cheep version allows HDV/DV output, but DV output only in widescreen. While the A1E has some extra option in exporting (when going for a DV signal, such as 16:9 squashed, 16:9 with bars, 4:3 cropped and 4:3 cropped/deinterlaced if I remember correctly) and it has a ton of other options (most in color/whiteballance/audio etc) But for most people the 'baby' HDV wil do just fine....unless you do stuff like tandemvideo, and want to be able to output standard 4:3 DV signal for realtime dubbing (16:9 dv works fine with the baby-cam btw, so only an issue if you dont like 16:9)....then the more advanced (a1e) brother might be a better option... Still...the previous redbull suits that where owned by the Empuria team where stolen so they probably dont look ugly to criminals hehe... Wonder what the wuffo's that stole those are doing with them (cause you cant use em in the skydiving/basejumping world without getting caught) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If only they were so inexpensive There are some options in HD starting at 25.000 euros...but the really cool toys (like that IMAX res digital HD camera) wil cost more then any of us will ever earn in a lifetime hehe And even if you have a true HD camera...you can not just firewire it over to your home PC and start editing...more expensive toys needed... Because HDV is the name of the standard. HDV records at 1440x1080 in fields, but only giving you 720 lines of image when using progressive scan. So 1440x720 res for the 'advertised' 1920x1080 resolution. And compression on top of that (be it barely noticable) HD (when talking about 2K recorders) records at full resolution (no non-square pixels) and is not interlaced (so full frames and not losing half your res. when deinterlacing, like HDV) And true HD cameras cost about 6 times as much and use damn expensive tapes instead of the normal DV (or special high grade HDV tapes) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Wingsuit weekends @ Teuge, The Netherlands.

Noice...yea...I had to chop the song up pretty bad (3 cuts in there) But I only had little footage to work with, and nearly 90% of what I had is in there. Otherwise I would have had to switch to lengthy slowmo's etc. to fit the length of the song...but thats not 'tool' Tool needs raw footage...no slowmo's JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

As promised, some stills from the HDR FX1 (PAL) at native format (1440x1080i) in square pixel aspect ration (1920x1080p) The final film wil be output to 35mm (film) http://www.airrebels.com/hdrfx1_mccordia_01.bmp Opening shot, http://www.airrebels.com/hdrfx1_mccordia_02.bmp Running shot, lots of camera movement. No sign of compression artifacts anywhere. A lot of this depends on how you capture the footage, and which intermediate codec you use for editing. http://www.airrebels.com/hdrfx1_mccordia_03.bmp Soldiers walking through the streets I've also used a HDV (both A1E as FX1) for greenscreen/bluescreen shoots, and the extra resolution and sharpness compared to normal DV/DV-Cam is definately a blessing, and gets you incredible results. No clue...but don't USA DVD player play both PAL and NTSC (like most EU players do??) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

No problemo..just was a bit weirded out seeing perry's profile and an answer that was clearly not his.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think both small HDV cameras have the same CCD chip. We shot some greenscreen footage on the FX1 and A1E (PAL version of the HC1) and got quite a good chance to compare em on a good monitor. The bigger ones (FX1/Z1) have a slightly bigger/better (3 chip) CCD, and actually show quite a difference in quality. This is also for a large part due to the bigger/better lens on the big camera's. But HDV REALLY shines when you watch in on a HD monitor or project it at a higher resolution. But even if you finish your project on normal DV/Broadcast resolution, the quality still surpasses most consumer cameras in terms of clarity/sharpness and color. I'll post one or two (uncompressed) stills from the FX1 as soon as I'm home tonight.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

PerroTemeroso?? I've already seen more of Perry then any healthy man ever should see... Why post under a copied 'Perry' profile when you are clearly not him, M? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Kay..then I also wont mention past weekends new moves such as the use your canopy as a bumper car© and the mccordia backfly corkscrew™ and the already famous Costyn freestyle exit™ DAMN did we have a good time past weekend... The best was riding back to the DZ standing up in the back of a dark utility-van/driving tool-shed with 4 people.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
