  1. Placing the glide that far (0.5) appart..maybe... Still dont think competitions are the best comparison. Seeing how there was sometimes a variation of half a mile between round 1 and round 2 in the results (wind?) with the pilots sure they flew exactly the same style as the first jump. Its always a bit iffy pointing out what the exact winner is...suit..pilot..wind? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Whole rants aside...most of the people only want to see the photo of the formation... Just wanting to see what was done...show it to friends..show it to fellow skydivers...marvel at how cool it looks and how awesome the achieved formation looks (be it 99% slotperfect and not the intended 100%). Every other record attempt in FF/RW/Crew has had the record picture and or video online within days. sometimes hours. The reason for not wanting to showing it being what it is.... It was out of exitement for what happened there that many people started asking..(at least for me it was..) And for a lot of people(including MANY people who where at the event) the exitement seems to get killed by text-only descriptions on the achieved event..and no real photo to be proud at... Shame that for some people thats a reason to start tar and feather treatments... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. My comment on glide ratios at competitions wasnt related to Tony's comment about fwd speed in the Sm1 btw. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Do note a lot of 'big' suits score really well in glide competitions due to having a tailwing for a longer period. Having two rounds (one downwind/one upwind) will make these competitions a bit more transparant in terms of the glide-ratios actually flown..(though still heavily dependant on the wind during the jumps made) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. All the discussions and politics and 2015 release scedules for pictures and video of the actual jump aside.. This was a conversation I overheard two (non wingsuit flyers) have past weekend. "Did you read about that wingsuit bigway thing they did" "yea..some formation record. 70 somthing. Appearantly its only a record in their own community" "Have you seen pictures anywhere" "I dont know if they have the record on a picture anywhere" And most skydive publications Ive read wrote about the record in a similar fashion..just some pictures on the build, and a bit of a carefull article on some form of formation. Wouldnt it at least have been nice to have the picture published anywhere? Its a shame most of the recognition and admiration for what was achieved is lost to most people (witin in the dicipline and the whole skydiving community) due to this long wait for an actual picture of the thing. And the extentise tar and feather treatment some people are getting due just asking for a few wingsuit pixels out of EXITEMENT for what (supposedly?) happened....just sad... Guess Ill leave this thread for another few weeks... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. Having seen a lot of pictures and video from over a dozen people already, I just think the grid is the least of all reasons to wait with releasing this to the public. Its an awesome formation...and Id sure love to see some pictures of the actial 'WE GOT IT!' formation made public without some silly grid pasted on top... But I guess Ill have to check back here in a week/month/year or so, and ask again..? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. Virgin Burner bought an SM1, but has been jumping a prodigy and classic. Untill he has at least a double dozen or more wingsuit jumps...(his words). Kid got brains JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Any chance we will ever see any of these items pop up anywhere? Never really seen a link or mention of airtimes..would have been great to see.... With the stuff we (as FLB) have done for TV, we also always made sure we got rights to show the show on our website (and got signed contracts on that, with the programs even sending us DVD versions of the show). You guys had such a load of media deals..there must be some way of showing some of this stuff to the rest of world? everybody knows which jump it was where it happened. And everyone knows roughly at which time during the jump the actual formation was there close to perfect. Even if EVERY cameraman on the jump would have taken 15 stills every single second during the time of completion, it would still only be about 20 to 40 stills for each individual camera flyer to go through. Now elliminate all the flyers not directly over the formation, and you have one or two ground shots and one or two topshots left to sort through? Or am I being to simplistic here.. Over the past weeks, the number of photos mentioned have varied from 800 to 8.000. Are all those pictures on the event all taken in the 1 to 5 second window everyone seems to point at with regards to the formation being completed? Though fun for magazines, I think there are probably 7.800 pictures that dont have to be taken into account when wading through the huge folder...just go straight to the meat.. Reasons being what they are..but at least be clear...first it was media bans (are they still there?) then it was fixing the grid (totaly un-important), and now its back to having too many pictures again... All fine..but should I just keep reloading this thread in an affort to actually see the picture appear in public, or will it just be another 'the picture isnt there yet because....' Almost everyone has commented on how wonderfull the formation looked/flew and how incredible the general experience has been. Isnt it possible to at least show the picture in public, and then start worrying about overlaying the grid on another 7.999 pictures or so? You guys turn 'the grid' into a whole epic..while (truth be told) I dont think anybody cares about 'the gird' one bit.. Its the formation and the flying..worry about judging/rating it later... Im rooting for you guys all the way...but just giving an estemate as to when anybody might actually get to see anything publicly would be a nice one.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Jeb just sent it to the media, and didnt spend a lot of time trying to scale and fit a grid over his pictures Much quicker... Joking aside..any airdates yet on the aforementioned ESPN and other Media items? The footage Ive seen already through various people/sources looked awesome. It would really be a shame if it only turned up (or didnt turn up at all) in small bits, long after the event has passed and lost its initial news-worthy-ness... Quoting Cuba Gooding Jr. Show me the money*!!! *by money I mean the picture and the video. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Noop..and its also not recommended to put small dogs into the microwave, drive faster than the allowed speedlimit, fart on airplanes, spend the rent-money on jumptickets, eat greasy hamburgers, smoke, stay up till late when you have to work tomorrow or jump out of airplanes and off of fixed objects...but still people do.. The more you say dont..the more people do JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. The FAQ link below this post of mine also has a short description on basic skills, currency and needed experience.. There is a lot of written material online and in books, but no single paragraph of text will ever be worth more than actual hands-on skydiving.. Just jump :) A lot! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Probably just doing a sort of carve/dive in front (in his wingsuit) Although shooting these pictures as a freeflyer (getting 1 shot in per jump) would make definetely it a lot cooler than it already is.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Could also be like the Tunnel in Holland, having two flight-chambers on top of eachother (one slighly smaller and closer to the fans for more airspeed). The one is Holland will be remodelled into one tall single tunnel later this coming year from what I hear.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Its not taboo, and depends for a large deal on how full the plane is (and what type of plane and how people are seated) and if there is enough between the last normal exit and first wingsuit exit to put the booties on. Im mostly stuck in caravans and C206s', where there usually isnt a whole lot of room to navigate through the plane without punching someone in the nuts.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  16. Based on our experiences and appreciation for the look, quality, construction and performance of the Phoenix Fly product line, we have chosen to represent the company as members of the demo/promotion team. We will be traveling to boogies and setting up special Phoenix-Fly wingsuit weekends, with the PF demo fleet for everyone to try, while assisting people in coaching, instruction and load organizing. Phoenix-Fly representation at Z-Flock (USA), EmpuriaFlock (Spain) and several smaller events in Marl (Germany) and Zwartberg (Belgium) are just a few of the things already in my agenda.. There wont be any changes with regards to FlyLikeBrick and the stuff we have been doing as a team. Though we will be making (and already have made) some changes and additions to our website with regards to our new and highly valued Phoenix-Fly affiliation. For obvious reasons, we will no longer be part of the Birdman factory team. Hopefully see all of you again soon at many wonderful boogies all over the world! All the best, Jarno Cordia, PFI #136 www.phoenix-fly.com p.s. (people asked) we are aiming at August/September for the next edition of the artistic wingsuit competition next year. Most likely at Spa again or Gap (working out those details soon) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Much more efficient than somebody kicking the mime-artists (woops..I ment RW people) in the back of the head during their funny routines, while trying to stand up and get your booties zipped up. And thats ignoring the added shifting around the plane you have to do in your wingsuit, with the added risk of pulling out pilotchutes etc. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Some additions from the event Sponsors. Phoenix Fly - Raffle prizes - Demos of all PF wingsuits (including V3!) - Special 15% boogie discount on the Prodigy2, Phantom2, Acro2, Ghost2 and Stealth. PD - Raflle prizes - Demo STORM canopies And we are looking at organising a 'Pimps, Ho's and Ponies' party at the Blue Sky bar for the saterday evening!! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  23. I already posted that one in this thread, and found a creative way to make it about wingsuits (there is a lady 'landing without a parachute'
  24. Wingsuit rig> cheap 2nd hand canopy about 500 jumps past factory recomendations for maximum use. Old container with enough velcro, risers and bits of fabric sticking out to make an S&M studio jealous. And combe that one with the cheapest reserve you can find, and an AAD that only has about 3 months left to live (because it came really cheap that way). Then a second hand wingsuit, and spending ALLLL the cash you have on a good trip and TONS of jumps.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
