mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I cant seem to edit my org post, but some small additions Dmitry mailed me. 22-28 June are the boogie days (so one more day to fly and party:) And the jump price will most likely be around 12 euros. If you have any questions, let me know and Ill fwd them to the boogie organisers! This boogie is gonna fly... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

Ukraine Wingsuit Boogie 2009 (and the 2008 video:)
mccordia replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Boogietime! 23 June - 28 June For the second year in a row the dropzone in Boroyanka, Ukraine is organising a big Wingsuit boogie. Phoenix Fly instructors Lutz Lüdtke and Jarno Cordia (thats me) will be there all week for First Flight Courses and Load Organising. All jumps will be properly briefed, and video from the jump will be debriefed afterward with tips on flying. Its also possible to receive 1 on 1 coaching on any part of your flying you'd want help with. Be it flips, rolls, docks, exits or backflying. Last year the focus was on FFCs mostly, but all of those birds have been jumping for a full year since then. And we'll also be joined by jumpers from the rest of europe, so this time we will also offer some serious flocking for those looking for that! We're aiming to make some nice formations during the week, and hope everyone is eager to join us! The edited video from last year can be found on flylikebrick.com, Skydivingmovies.com (that last link might take a while to become active) Partytime! After jumping is done, the gear is put away and the glasses of Wodka come out. If you thought you could drink, or had any idea on what Party means. Allow the people of Ukraine to make you feel like you are in school again and give you a proper lesson in drinking. The dropzone Located roughly an hours drive away from Kiev Intl. airport, the dropzone features a nice closed packing area, food stand, big landing area and plenty of room for out landings (which means Wodka! in Ukraine, instead of Beer!) AirCraft There will be at least one, but most likely two L-410 AirCraft (aka Turbolets) ready to swing jumpers up to 13.000ft These airplanes have a nice high tail, and good exit speeds which means its possible to fly with the aircraft for quite a while if done right. So something to enjoy or work on during the week! Like last year, there might be some impromptu MI-8 chopper jumps as well, but thats more or less an unplanned surprise on behalf of the military, which we wont know untill we are actually there. The organisation is also looking at MAYBE offering some specials such as a Balloon jump, but much like the MI-8 Helicopter. This is not certain, and should be treated as a bonus on top of whats already going to be a an awesome week. Demo suits Next to the dropzones' local fleet of demo suits, Lutz and I will also be bringing the full line of PF suits for everyone to fly and try during the boogie. Both for first flights, or people eyeballing a certain model. This will be your chance. Of course we will also be there to talk and listen in case of questions, comments or suggestions. Prices Due to the financial crisis, Ukrainian currency is at a low. Though bad for the people in the Ukraine, this means that (at the moment) jumptickets only cost 8 to 10 euros for people traveling to the boogie from elsewhere in Europe. A price you'll find hard to beat anywhere in Europe. Though this might change of course depending on how the econemy fares the coming months. Nice cheap airline tickets can be bought via www.wizzair.com and other budget airlines. If there is more information, Ill post it here. But for now...here is the mandatory 'list'; People Attending 1. Dmitry Karpekov 2. Lutz Lüdtke 3. Jarno Cordia 4. Costyn van Dongen 5. .... 6. ... 7. .. 8. . JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

It's been in the planning for a long time, but we have finaly started a new section on our website. World Wide Wingsuit News For people who dont always have the time (or energy/courage) to dig through all the posts on dropzone.com and other various news sources, we have started a blogstyle news site at http://news.flylikebrick.com/ where our team of admins will try and keep you up to date on all the cool news, photos and videos that pop up online. It wont be much more than short blurbs of text and a small image refering you to the actual places where to groovy stuff is available for download/to watch. But for those on a tight scedule (or sick of the endles 'I have 20 jumps..I know the recomenditions..but would it be safe if I flew a wingsuit now anyways' kinda discussions) its a nice way to read all the wingsuit news, without the added noise of online discussion. We also try to keep a calendar on all wingsuit events world-wide up to date on the same page. If you have news, video, a website or event you would like to see posted in the calendar or news section. Shoot an email to news@flylikebrick.com and we will make sure its added. Check it out! Sincerely, your team of admins: Costyn van Dongen Steve Bartels Juan Mayer Macca Jarno Cordia JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Now post them videos...as the weather sux, and there's 5 days of work ahead of us, and we need wingsuit pixels to make it through them! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

p.s. Also launching a cool addition to our website reaally soon. Costyn has already put in a lot of work, and we're just finishing the last details. More info and url for that one in a day or so as well.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The V3 promo had some animated eyecandy of mine in it already. And though editing video is important, at the moment we're jumping and (shooting video) every weekend when the weather allows (F-ing freezing here). Still SD..hoping to upgrade to HD soon as well. But I have a HD full of video, and been busy with loads of stuff lately. (aside of making a bit of extra cash for funjumps with www.skydivinglogos.tk) I threw a short bit online on some canopy/wingsuit stuff we did with Bo in 2007. Check that out here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSyAEQ_H6t0. More on this later this year. And I am helping out Boris with some eyecandy stuff on the new FlyTheLine2 DVD for PF (which will blow peoples minds in terms of the actual flying). And I have a 2 personal WS video projects of which Im not sure they'll ever make it online for various reasons. But who knows. But on what you will see online soon... I have about a dozen projects which are at 50% to 90% finished. So just so you know whats cooking.. Ukraine 2008 - Wingsuit Boogie +- 10 minutes, lots of wingsuit, a tiny bit of freefly/tracking. Will be online monday, together with announcement for this awesome boogies 2009 edition. FlyLikeBrick - 3 Flight Manuals (upfloating on a formation, diving to the formation, backing up/into a formation). Will also be appearing online real soon. Wingsuit Competition.com Artistic video (1 hr long). Still have a problem with scoring on two jumps, which I wanted to get right before putting it online. But also not delaying this one much longer. Before Feb. starts Ill have it online as well. If you check the calendar on http://www.flylikebrick.com, you will see that there are already quite a few events planned, spreading the PF gospel of love and flight. And most of those will end up as a video on our and PFs' website at some time as well.. So in short...no worries...Im keeping busy.. And yea..there is a fulltime job hidden in between all those things somewhere as well JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I also had the problem that I seemed to fit the 'Skinny European' stereotype less and less. Fixed that by some strict dieting and swimming (from 87kg down to 78kg again). Though Donuts do keep their sweet taste and atrraction.. But trying to keep it healthy Then brief your students on a better body position And though its possible to fly a wingsuit at any speed you do start to go more and more towards a point where weird 'headdown/atmo/arched' bodypositions need to be flown to get there. So just picking the right tool for the job is always better. I personaly prefer suits like the Acro2, as it leaves my hands free to give handsignals. Though if a student flies well enough to see the handsignals, he usually doesnt need em (besides 'stretch legs') and if they fly so bad they need em, they are usually fighting and flying to the point where they dont even notice you unless you practically put your face in front of theirs.. But back to the boobies! Thats one fine nipple! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I dont think any wingsuit is a problem. You can fly with a normal trackingjump in a Stealth/SM1/bigsuit if you want...just depends on how you want to fly..relaxed and having fun, or working your ass off to 'stay down' with the rest... For people just getting the hang of backflying (and not being able to do slower freefall speeds yet) Rodeos are a nice practice jump in terms of relative (back)flying.. For lighter people it can be a bit more of a fight to keep to big suits 'down' as at that point they are just fighting a lot of drag.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If You Were to buy a camcorder TODAY.....

the importer here mentioned end of fabruari 'for sure', but when I asked about it maybe being later (march/april, like DSE mentioned) he didnt sound to convinced anymore.. Hoping to get some more details on that one.. Now that I know which camera I want...they throw me a new curveball...do I want a silver, black or red version... I think Ill take the RED ONE.. hmm..dont know if that nickname is what influences the delivery time.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think its a good one, that would be out of place as a stickey thread on top ... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I do a lot of shooting without wide-angle, some zoomed in quite a bit, and the stuff Ive seen from OIS makes me pretty sure it will be un-acceptable for what I want to do with it (on Wingsuit/Freefly/misc jumps) EIS (depending on camera models) can do some nice things for a shot, or actually make shaking worse.. I think I prefer using none of the above... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

care to write that again in English Lilchief? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The best flying Rodeos seem to only do 90 seconds or so of freefall..a classic or other tiny track/wingsuit should be more than enough in 99% of the cases.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

If You Were to buy a camcorder TODAY.....
mccordia replied to Dumpster's topic in Photography and Video
Cause Jarno says it does. The footage Im looking at is high-speed flying shot by cameras on stands (sticking out from the body). And the people watching over my shoulder didnt notice anything wrong with it. But being an anal-retentive-pixel-pushing-nerd, I tend to look at this stuff a lot more detailed (and full-screen on a 30 Inch monitor) then 90% of the end users. Even having seen the issues, I was about 3inches removed from ordering a CX12 when the new CX105 was announced. The issues Ive had with moisture (even with a camera in a good enclosed D-box) over the years with tapes and/or the cameras itself during jumps are no match for the ease of use of digital media and the much faster processing time. No matter how much you sugarcoat it...if you spend a full day editing at a boogie/event (like the swooping vids you do often Saskia) you are spending most of your time actually capturing the footage. Just a quick copy saves soo much time. And doing a full boogie video (like Im doing now for an event I did a while ago) and having 4 hours of tape to capture...thats 4 hours spent waiting for stuff to download..which could be done within half an hour... Once you go fully digital (which everyone will have to at some point) you'll never want to go back. So far my experiences have been editing stuff for others and doing non-jumping videos. But its the future...tape sux So does OIS...and glad to finaly see some cameras that also solve this (be it with slightly worse lenses and having to wait for them more than a few months...or so it seems..) Mostly ment all the useless 'bonefire threads' on him in the wingsuit forum. At least I sneak my ponies into existing threads... And joke all about mike you want, But he had a naked chick on his back (does that give weird stains on your wingsuit btw?) and the people making fun of him didnt JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

In Holland its announced for shipping end of Feb2009, and available for pre-order. Though DSE hasnt chimed in yet here, he mentioned briefly he did jump the camera and it accepts the Hype-Eye. The only real debate between choosing this one over a CX11/12 etc seem to be lens/ccd-size vs no-OIS. Im ordering the CX105E this coming month. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The Black-Mountain Wingsuit Weekends! Zwartberg (aka 'Black Mountain') is a nice dropzone in Belgium with a big landing area, swooppond, comfi bar and nice and warm Cessna Caravan. Next to our traveling, we have choosen this DZ as our home-base for this season, and we will be pushing the nylon as hard as we can there. There will be quote a few more, but here are the first two dates: 21/22 Februari First Flight Courses and 1 op 1 coaching for skydivers that want to help the Belgian WingForce grow! There will be load organising for the more experiences pilots, where we will aim for (multiple) small groups flying nice and completed formations. Over the course of the year, we want to expand on this and work towards flying an un-official belgian wingsuit formation record (in both an international and 'belgians only' version) 14/15 March This weekend we also offer the option for first flights and/or 1 on 1 coaching, but the main focus will be flying formations in two or three groups (depending on attendance and experience) We will try and merge the groups during the weekend, so we can fly some of the first bigger formations in Belgium. video and briefings All jumps will be made with a good briefing, video during freefall and debrief (both coaching/instruction and formation jumps) and all will also be properly debriefed afterward. We will create a fun compilation video of both weekends, while will be available to watch on our website afterward. demo suits We will have the full range of suits from Phoenix Fly there for you to try, so if you are already a seasoned pilot and you want to try a different suit than your own for a change...this is your chance! Just browse the PF website and see which suit you'd want to try, and we'll make sure we have it there as a demo for you to fly! If you're interested in attending the event for the formation jumps or a first flight course. Drop us a line at flylikebrick@gmail.com. If you're not ready to fly a wingsuit yet, or just want to hang out or swoop the pond, feel free to join in and also (of course) share a drink with us afterward... More info regarding (low as usual) cost and logging/stay soon! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Id the width of the camera is smaller a lot of duc-tape could so it I love the helmets with enclosed/integrated camera boxes, but once they discontinue 'your' model, you're sorta f*cked.. And yea...if this thing fro sure accepts the HypeEye (even if its only showing its on/off/standbye) I think Im ordering.. Sure the CCD wont be as good as the CX etc cams. But actually having a fixed lens and no OIS makes a world of difference.. Waiting for a Dbox to be produced in this size will be a whole other matter though.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
