Ive done a few jumps without goggles. I think a picture of one of those is still in the parachutist catalog even (Not intentional, the goggles where around my neck on climbout) Backflying its fine, belly-flying you still get 120 mph wind on your eyes. Its do-able, but can get you into a load of eye problems if you do it too often (tearducts permanently tearing up etc). And though you see okay-ish, I think it doesnt give the same clear view of your surroundings (and people you are flying towards). So in general..can be done..but why....dont really see a reason.. Jumping a Gath helmet with visor is a nice compromise... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I think 'we' are the only dicipline that actually has people start skydiving with the goal of doing this stuff... Freefly and RW dont get that a lot We're the cool kids.... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

it provides an oppinion based on what they are used to... Go to a DZ where most people fly 'tri-wing suits' or some of the more modern wing designs which you could rate in one or both catagories, and ask the same question, and the answer is the other way around... "Opinions are like a@*holes, everybody has one" right But more serious.. Even within one brand, the wing-pressure can vary greatly from suit to suit.. .. With FYB only having two full wingsuits out (for now..when is that flocking suit hitting the market?), its hard to compare it to other manufacturers who have 8 to 275(tonysuit joke) different models out there.. (as most of you seen to be talking about 'S-Fly' instead of Mono-wing in general, which is produced by more than one company/brand) Tri-wing vs mono-wing is just a term...flying your body is a essential skill "Stop flapping, start flying" should be a bumper-sticker on everyones suit (including mine..just watch that Zell-Am-Zee video from two years ago..man I was flappin there) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I dont think its vital, but I just think some people limit themselves (and the fun they can have within the sport as a whole) a lot by only seeing skydiving as a transitional phase towards what they really want to do (fly a wingsuit, basejump etc). And due to that, they often also skip a lot of steps that could teach them quite a few essential skills. We have a very big group of friends who dont see skydiving as a performance/result driven thing. Having fun is the #1 goal, and if they learn something in the progress (which you always do, regardless of what kind of jump you are making) that just an added bonus. Just give me a shout through a PM or email to flylikebrick@gmail.com and Ill gladly introduce you to many of my wonderfull friends who love nothing more than ad-hoc formation, tracking or freefly jumps. You're more than welcome! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Just browse the bazillion posts here, and you'll read these comments on just about every single suit being heavy or light to fly when compared to another model or brand.. Its all about muscle strength and practice... Which is the same reason I have an automaticly built in right-hand turn JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

SKYDIVING is a good preperation....dont limit yourself to a single element. RW/FS teaches you stuff about levels, proximity, exits, approach and seperation. Freefly teaches you a lot on flying more than one body position. Tracking teaches you dealing with forward speed and levels (when done in groups), and solo it teaches you a bit on performance (which is the least important aspect when it comes to learning wingsuit flying, yet the ONLY thing most people new to the sport focus on) making A LOT of jumps teaches you about body and heading control during opening, and dealing with off-heading openings etc. CREW teaches you a lot of the flying strategy you need when it comes to flying a wingsuit (not backing into formations backwards or diving into them by collapsing wings, but FLYING every single thing you do, in full controll) And that list could go on for quite a bit longer... So to prepare for a wingsuit....just skydive....a lot! Drop by at Zwartberg during the wingsuit weekend of 21/22 Feb. and we'll show you some wingsuit stuff if you're interested and introduce you to a few nice freeflyers and RW folks who wont mind at all helping you get up to speed on those diciplines.. I dont think thats a completely accurate statement. Many people experience exactly that same thing the other way around. My first few jumps on an S-Fly Expert killed me completely after just 2 jumps. It just depends on which muscles have developed more due to flying that type of wingsuit more or less than the other one. Many people see it as two completely different things, but again..I think its just different flying techniques which can be used on either style suit. And many suits from Tony and PF exibit a design thats also much more akin to a mono-wing than the classic tri-wing designs. Forming one flat surface on the lower surface when stretched tight, and allowing much finer controll through hips and shoulders. Learning to actually fly a wingsuit that way (and efficient, without overcorrections causing a lot of slipping and sliding within formations) is a whole other story... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

That works for everyone who doesnt have an American style ass But sad jokes aside (had to loose a few kilo's recently myself) every suit can be flown with hip inputs. I think the only real difference is palms up/palms down style flying in terms of your arm position, and quite a few suits these days offer both (depending on how you like to fly) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

With the blurred design aspects, I think monowing/triwing is at the moment only still used to describe a flying technique. Where tri-wing flying is a rigid body, and flapping wings and opening/closing them and the mono-wing technique is always having the wings open and tight, and working with the angle of your body and chest a lot more to get where you want to go. Loic is one of the finest examples of aforementioned flying technique.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Fully second what DSE says. If its editing you do, use an editing program. If its image alteration/manipulations you do, use a compositing package... Doing an NTSC downconvert to PAL can also be done one frame per frame basis (interpreting 30 fps as 25 fps). This will mean NTSC footage will run at a slight slowmo, but in skydiving footage this generaly isnt a big problem. And it prevents bad artifacts from frame-blending (which happens in a normal 30 fps>25 fps conversion). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Its like animated movies.. Three animated movies about Ants/bugs-life at the same time.. Then sharktale/nemo fish movies etc. Orginality isnt a big thing in any industry JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Yea..exelent point.. As bad as it sounds, for people wanting to learn how to backfly from scratch, getting some instruction on backflying without a wingsuit (freefly 'for real' or in a tunnel) can make it a lot easier. As its just bodypositioning there, and not also being bothered with lots of wing and maintaining heading etc So yea..I sayd it....you can take of a wingsuit, and still work on something new in terms of wingsuit skills.. Look at the Babylon Freefly guys. 90% of the people here probably have more wingsuit jumps. But they take everything they know from freeflying over to their wingsuit flying, and as a result fly much more dynamic and assertive than most of us who started on wingsuits from scratch... In the end, flying your body is flying your body....with or without a wingsuit.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Work..its one of those things I try to do at the office when not thinking about wingsuits, or looking for videos, photos and articles on this awesome hobby/obsession of ours.. Ive just spent the last hour brushing up on my severly rusty German, and translated an awesome article and video on Loic Jean-Albert from www.geo.de (spotted by Costyn) You can read the translated version at http://news.flylikebrick.com/ There is also link there to the orginal German article if you prefer reading that one. On top of that, I also added other bits and pieces of misc. wingsuit video that popped up online today. Enjoy! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

When it comes to learning to backfly, just hoping out of the plane on your back over the next 20 or 30 jumps (legwing slightly closed) will give you a bit of a feeling for how backflying flies. Dont hold it longer than a few seconds, and just keep watching the plane. The moment you go unstable of headdown, roll back to your belly. As you do this more and more often (not in anything over a 2 way with an experienced flyer), you will notice you can keep it on your back longer. At that point, you can start getting into more advanced backfly training. For which there are brief instructional videos on our website and I have it from good authority there is going to be an awesome DVD on backflying like a pro..out in in a few days... Just take it easy...if its been a long time since you've flown a wingsuit, first make sure you are acustomed to flying again, and finding/keeping heading and having awereness of where you and your fellow flyers are relative to eachother... No rush...have fun...keep smiling... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Shoot me a PM or email at flylikebrick@gmail.com if you have an event or date thats missing. All items will also appear in the WorldWideWingsuitNews public google agenda, so feel free to ad that one to your own website for a complete overview on whats happening JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

What is the wingsuit mod for containers?

And the chance of a PC exploding is much higher when there is a significant 'snag' as it inflates due to the bag-friction, so even there the cut corners would actually bennefit the opening more than they'd hinder it.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
