  1. Are you trying to say that having few skydives, and reading a lot on wingsuits online while being awesome at snowboarding maybe isnt the proper way to get into this
  2. I know, it wasnt ment as an attack, or teacher moment...Ive done my share of stupid stuff as well. But the general trend/acceptance on wingsuits and low experience is worrying...and though it can be a bit overkill mentioning it every single time, I think its still a must to do so. As you never know what thread an 80 jump wonder hits first, while looking for advice online.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. There are several people with exit weight of +130 kg that manage to fly their wingsuit at fallrates of around 50 mph, while hauling ass in terms of forward speed. Experience makes up for a heavy breakfast (up to a certain point). The less your body build is suitable for flight, the more you will need skill to compensate. And that skill isnt aquired in a wingsuit alone.... Not to jump onto the whole jump-numbers thing again, so Ill leave it at a single statment...but given the trackrecord on wingsuit incident/accidents and low-timers (regardless of make or model of wingsuit) having less than the recomended jump numbers and taking a wingsuit up, is not a clever thing to do... People seem to focus on performance way to much, way too soon, and way to little on aquiring a decent amount of experience before they start flying.. As well ment as this topic and orginal posters interest is..always stick to the basic safety standards (and remember its a MINIMUM, so actually having more experience before doning a wingsuit doesnt hurt). 4. Shhhhh Now if there would be any money on that bank-account, that would be even better haha Luckely this camera is a 'company purchase' approved by my boss....ooh wait...thats me JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Ive just spent an hour or so pointing the camera at everything I could find, shaking it around, holding it upsideside and hitting it on the side...basically everything you normaly do when you have a new girlfriend Impressed with this little camera. The only negative thing I could find was a bit of lag (compression related) on quick panning moves. Resulting in the image-jitter described here earlier... Its quite specific...having an object in front of the lens, with a panning background seems to cancel out the stuttering. I dont really see this being an issue, but think my style of filming wingsuit stuff (usually without wide-angle, and zoomed in) will probably show this to be a shortcoming (or not) real soon... Dont expect it to be a problem..but we'll see! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. And the bed is taken by the Frenchies! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. At the risk of sounding like my girlfriend... DAMN THAT THING IS SMALL! Attached a pic of the camera on my desk, next to my bank-card JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. I didnt ad stuff to this photo...I removed things (most obvious: the pony, 2 midgets and brown smears on his suit)! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Tried explaining this one to a collegue/co-worker when he spotted me working on the photo.... He seemed to think the hulk-fist made me a disturbed, sick and twisted person... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. Ey boys and girls! The Swedish & The Dutch have united, and rented an 8 person appartment which will be known as 'The Party Palace' from this point on. Its Maurici Park, next to supermarket, 5 minute walk to the DZ, 15 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to the bar, 2 hours crawl back from the bar! We have one bed left, anyone looking for a place to stay is free to join us! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. FXC's are still seen on some dropzones around EU , mostly used on student gear (staticline setups). You do recognise the newer/younger skydivers, who came up to me to ask what 'that little metal box' is JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. You and everyone else... Fallrate is linked to weight, glide-ratio isnt. Being heavier, you wont be the world record holder for freefall time, but in terms of distance and forward speed, you'll give everyone a serious run for his money (assuming you're talking about being heavy) The first couple of hundred jumps, experience is more important than performance. Put the focus on learning as much as you can, on the complete experience that is called skydiving. And just be patient and take your time.. Its about the road...not the destination.. 13. Ive just uploaded a new video to YouTube. Costyn is in Iceland at the moment (duding scary scuba-diving in a Fjord/Glacier lake with his wife) so it will probably be a few days untill its added to our www.flylikebrick.com movie gallery. The video was shot two weeks ago on a saterday, and is just a collection of shots taken by Costyn, Roel and me that day. Nothing fancy in terms of flying, lots of unstable fun, ugly docks, but luckely also some plane and canopy flybys that should make up for that Enjoy! The video is also available in embedded form at WWWN note: my own rig was away for a repack, so I was jumping an oldie COE-D 190, with VectorII rig. The FXC (AAD) is switched off, and isnt recommended for use with a wingsuit! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. Awesome! (and nerdy comment: always hit Deinterlace before exporting/uploading for the webz!) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. I have around 15 PF suits hanging on the rack in my school here at Z-hills. Don't bother bringing anything other than V3's or Acro2's. I have everything else in most sizes here already. Chuck Its none of the above... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. I ment a real one Yuri.....we enjoy the interaction with living things instead just getting satisfaction from devices.. Much like flocking with other people, and you just doing the solo thing with a gps device, and trying to convince people its soo much better Who needs friends anyway huh JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Sounds awesome guys! Flights are booked...and Im up for anything! Looking forward to talk and jump with everyone, will be good to finaly put a face on all of you guys avatar/dz.com nicknames! Anyone wanting to try some of the PF sky-toys Im bringing, just come up to me and say hi! p.s. They didnt allow pony's as checkin luggage, so might have to leave that one at home! 18. Found out the reason for it not being available yet here...the red version (which I wanted) wont be in stock for another 4 or 5 weeks. But the silver and black ones are already in stock. Just ordered mine, and will be delivered by friday! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. We've put a section online at http://flylikebrick.com/wingsuit-faq.php that has a paragraph with this exact thread title...it has some information.. Completely ignoring the wingsuit factor, but might it be time for you to switch to a wristmounted altimeter you can actually read during freefall? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. The camera wont be available in most Dutch/Belgian/German stores untill the last week of March according to the stores I called. But did already order a Dbox with TonFly. They are accepting pre-orders on it, but wont be shipping untill last week of March either. But should all come together pretty nice at the end of next month.. Cant wait to shoot some pretty wingsuit stuff (without all that fancy wide-angle stuff) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. 1. Matt Hoover 2. Andreea (Supergirl) 3. Jarno 'Mc' Cordia 4. Robert Pecnik (maybe:) Oh yes! Its on! And bringing toys (and maybe the Prince:, depending on a project he's working on around that time). JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. Thats flyby looks awesome! And cool to also see something more than just shots from exit till opening! Also posted it on WWWN for you guys! Great stuff! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Small addition: http://www.flylikebrick.com/playmovie.php?id=28 This vid (compilation of my first 40 or so wingsuit jumps) has some shots of my 2nd wingsuit jump in there (red suit, white wings, funky helmet) about halfway in. And I think some of Tristans first few jumps as well JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. Think it was oktober/november 2003 (or somewhere around that time) at Teuge, Netherlands. Had around 380 jumps or so if I remember correctly. Used a Classic I. Later moved on on to the 'extremely dangerous' high performance Skyflyer1 (which wasnt all that bad, some light wobbly flying aside, when pushed too hard) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. Sign mine with "we'll always have that one night we shared in Germany....love and memories...XXX justin"
