  1. Just ask around for a good coach. Some of the best coaches have no instructors numbers, and vice versa.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. Id be all for a poll that says: Do you think we dont need more 'move em to bonfire' threads on the same bad joke again and again?? no no no JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. Tony also looks really old (though puts a lot of youngster to shame in terms of energy levels and what he does up in the big blue) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. Once you've completed the basic training, jumps cost $10 to $30 depending on where you jump. With an added $10/15 for gear rental. Tandemjumps are expensive carnaval rides, which dropzones use to keep jumping cheap for us folks (or least, thats the pink glasses I try to always look at the biz). And even on those, there is not a lot of profit made. You list 2 weeks of research...try and call a dropzone (list can be found on this website, topbar) and ask questions on how to start skydiving and what the basic training costs.. Thats research. Watching videos online is just entertainment Quit posting..start jumping! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. Click the FAQ at the top of this page, and the FAQ at the bottom of the page for more info. With regards to base. Its skydiving which had a kick in the nuts while dating a pornstar. skills, awereness, safety and your response to bad shit has to be in top condition. And then its a matter of years (MANY YEARS!) of training and jumps to get anywhere near what you want.. We have people flying winguits up into their 70s/80s...so I wouldnt worry about the age thing.. 6. Living in a shitty country like Holland/UK, a lot of people who really go for it manage to make 200 to 300 jumps per year while jumping on a small plane (C206) dropzone, mostly jumping weekends, and two or three holidays. If you really want this, and you dont make a lot of $$ just yet, stop spending money on bullshit on shiny cars, a car stereo with swimming dolfin display and that surroundset and flatscreen tv, and spend it all on jumping. I was a student when I started jumping (and 22) and graduated halfway into my first year of jumping. The first few year I only made 30 jumps, but managed to keep jumping and slowly the numbers climbed. With your budget (or lack there-off) starting jumping on staticline progression means you get the same training as you do on AFF, only spread over a lot more jumps (with more canopy experience) and at a cost where you should be able to afford at least one or two days of jumping per month, even on your budget. Next to that you could go to a DZ in the weekends and learn to pack for $$ or find other ways of making some money with your work/skills to earn jumping cash. There have been people without any money at all who manage to make a living (be it on breadcrumbs and jumps only:)) on skydiving. Its just a matter of how hard you want it. I see no reason why you couldnt start jumping now, jump as much as money allows, and be flying a wingsuit and furthering your jumping career towards your other goals within one or two years.. Dont be a pussy...just start... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. With regards to CX6/11/12 etc. Thought the effect is more subtle, the shake is also present in wingsuit/basejump footage. Im looking at stuff shot with several cameras with OIS from the CX range by james/robert (PF) and all the footage looks great. But when you watch the footage closely, you do notice a subtle wobble during the flying. In freeflying the effect is really pronounced. In flatfalling stuff the effect is less visable, but still definately there.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. Just bring a broomstick, and stick that one under your rig, and through your sleeves...helps keep the arm tight...havent figured out the pulling yet though... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. neeh..cant poop when anyone is watching...(its a handycap..I know) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. The 8GB internal memory is also cool. Should you ever forget your memory-stick, you're not immidiately f*cked Quite funny how they make a set of camera's, and the 'cheapened' version of their new range is close to what we'd want. Anybody know if you can also shoot with the viewfinder(screen only!) closed? Its not too big a hassle to have it rotated in the D-box, but preferably Id have it closed in normal fashion... And hoping a hype-eye or some form of camera control will work on this one as well...maybe DSE has some more skinny on this one? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. Thats pretty sweet.. Eyeballing a lot of wingsuit footage from the CX11/CX12, I could still see some subtle wobling in the image on high speed flying. And for the freefly stuff its the known shaking problems. Think Im ordering this one the moment its available.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. The best registered performances so far by some of the best pilots in some of the biggest suits currently available have been slighly over 60 seconds in 3000 ft (with a flaring technique). Using a standard altitude of 12000 ft, opening altitude of 3000 ft, and flying it constant (no flare into a measuring window) I thing 99,9% of all WS flyers out there will be hard pressed to score anything more then a few seconds past 3 minutes. If you want more time..get more altitude, or pull lower.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Yea..exelent job turning the 'you guys are so extreme, you must have a deathwish' intent on the makers behalf around, and answering their questions in a sane and informative (albeit short) way.. good job... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. You sir....are my hero! This is innovating the sport! Id give your son a shirt for his birthday that says "Im Scott Campos' stunt double" Come to think of it...Id love one one of those ;) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Nico reads here but doesnt post. Mailed me this (asking to post it here) In BASE I experienced 2 hardpulls with the basepouch on the Apache, which was a pretty scary experience if I say so. 1 x 4 sec canopyride and 1 x 2 sec canopy after deployment . Grrrrrrr . I had the pouch moved up 5cm, and tested it from the airplane, but the problem now is that the pouch is a little too far behind the wing to grab for pulling. So for me its no more basejumps with these suits. Only if the armwing is changed or made smaller at the base of the body, making it easier to pull. I'm sure Tony will find a good solution for this problem JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. For people that dont want to spend hours trying to download freeware stuff www.media-convert.com is an exelent site if you have a good web connection.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Maybe the SA rating being official can be a good steppingstone in having USPA and other countries organisation recognising such a thing... Good to see Tonto still having a big influence on everything we do... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. And two ponies! this book is definately recomendable reading for any wingsuit flyer interested in that stuff....funny seeing pictures from the 1950s with 'new innovative ideas from 2007/2008' already present in black and white (and a lot of canvas and wooden dowels) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. Hope they have a table...... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. Ill be attending F&D as a PF rep. Havent looked at other events and dates yet, but will do that soon as well. But for now F&D in April is the first event on my list on that side of the pond JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

  22. That post wasnt directed at you Butters. Just at the general image some people within the community put forth...and which results that may have on some... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. And to everyone more experienced that writes about his or her experiences and view..do think about the people lurking here for advice when you write or post something... I anyone was injured or worse because he/she got into this way before they where ready. And did so (lying about jumpnumbers or whatever is needed) based on advice he or she read online from other people that ignored the general recomenditions and started early...than the fingers a lot of people are pointing at the actual person instructing for just or completely onjust reasons, should be focussed on ourselves, and the image we (as a community) seem to put out both online and in real life. The general rules and recommenditions for jump# and experience have been here from the start. Its 'making people wanting to get into this sport realise why these recommenditions are there' we should focus on. And not having them think its just a number, and its okay to lie about that one to cheat their way into this prematurely.. Dont pamper everyone who says they dont have enough jumps and tell em they'll be fine...just tell them to get of their ass and jump their balls off....its all about experience...the more you have...the better you can cope with new things...the safer wingsuit flying as a dicipline will become.. 24. heyhey...thats just the perverted homicidal maniac in you talking... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  25. That is Henny's (and Phoenix-Fly) style of teaching I dont see that listed anywhere as the Phoenix-Fly style of teaching. Having the person who rents/gives you the suit be present for at least a pincheck and seeing if everything is rigged properly would be a nice one (from a safety pov.) I would personaly rather see (non fulltime jumpers) give the FFC for free, and use the 20 or so euros on the instructors slot. Than taking that money and not giving a whole lot more than reading a pdf to someone. ymmv... Having an instructor JUMP with someone didnt use to be manditory, but having that instructor make sure the material is rigged and used properly before boarding is something no instructor should skip for a first jump.
