I checked 7-8 but this time of year if it's not beautiful and warm we normally don't get the Otter up until around 10:30-11:00 so it's hard to get in more than 5-6 which sucks because the 6th is free! When it stays warm and clear I think that we will get back to wheels up BY 8:30 and $15.00 jumps all day if you're on it! Summer time is more like 9-10 a day.

how not to look dangerous swooping at 1.25 WL?
jumperconway replied to pchapman's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Curious as to what canopy the 88 is on your profile. Do you still jump all those canopies or is that just canopy history? -
Your Canopy Risk Quotient? :Parachutist 03/04
jumperconway replied to sarge's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I found it interesting grouping people 500-2000 a rather large group and time in the sport somewhat irrelevant IMHO. Strangely I fit in the 5+ yrs. because I started over 5 yrs. ago with 1 tandem and 4 AFF jumps. That doesn't take into consideration an almost 2 year hiatus. I've done over 500 jumps a year since my return but my canopy size, type and WL score me 24pts. to start off with. I've done 1700 jumps in just over 3yrs. with all but the first 350 or so loaded 1.7 or better on either a Crossfire or X-braced canopies. Without canopy control classes or a shitpot full of hop n pops I still score 35-38! It tells me that this is not a good place to be? I am well within manufacture specs on all 3 X-braced canopies I own. I jump year round and do HP landings on almost all jumps, traffic allowing. Maybe I need to go from my 79'-27c Xaos back to a Sabre 150 so that I am not such a hazard to everyone in the sky or on the ground near my landing area. I trully believe that this Quotient fits the 500 and under jumpers much better than over 500 and extremely current! -

Does that imply that I have a 320 Manta for a unit?

I have a 218-m in my wings that is made for a 149 main...big reserve small main...wings will do this for anyone. That's great but I don't think that he wants to buy a new container also.

SSM is kind of my third home dz as I live in Houston, typicaly jump at Spaceland but jump some Sundays at SDHouston when my girl from Austin is visiting and SSM when I'm visiting her. May very well be there that weekend for some 8-10way stuff but that's a long way off. If I don't meet ya, enjoy your stay in our little country!

How much did you spend on skydiving last year?
jumperconway replied to pccoder's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's cool dude, I was mistaken, in my new rig was another main and reserve and I bout another used Xaos last year so add another $2000,00 shit there you go again! -
The Diablo wouldn't give you any Idea about the PDr, it's eliptical. The Tri is square but ZP.
-
Can you get a PD demo in Russia? If not can you borrow a 7 cell 150ish? The PD143R will fly bigger than the # in my opinion. A triathlon 150 would probably give you an idea of what it will fly like. If you're ok with the Tri you'll probably be ok under the PDR (if you're conscious). My PDr is at 1.64/1 but it's also 43% bigger than my main!
-
Why would you want a reserve that may be wanting to take over your main with 2 out? You aren't comfortable jumping a 9cell main that size are you? The 7cell will not have the flair that your main does even the same size much less alot smaller! If that's not a PD I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

What brand has ALOT to do with how it flies and flares!

How much did you spend on skydiving last year?
jumperconway replied to pccoder's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm really pissed at you for making me attempt to add it up. 540+ jumps last year bought 1 rig used, sold my old rig. Bought 1 new canopy and 1 used reserve. Sold 1 main and 1 reserve. So on gear alone - about another $2000. Well over $10K not including travel. Would have been alot more jumps but we had alot of weathered weekends last year.
