  1. Yoshi did wait for the O/C to give the ok to climb out but she pissed off the pilot for not climbing out on the green trying to wait for a spot that gave us a chance to ALL land on. We had a major clash with the uppers and lowers and people were landing off nearly every load. I'm pretty sure we were still going to go until people started pulling them back inside.
  2. Paige, I did try to help Yoshi get back in but the pilot had jacked up the airspeed and put it in a hard bank turn I needed help just to get my trailing leg back in the door. We were launching a hammer and I was tail. when he started his antics I was shoved to the point that had we exited I was sure that my shoulder would have dislocated. When I couldn't get him in, I provided a wind break to protect him from the blast.
  3. Yea, I was a little sore the next day. What Yoshi forgot to say was the pilot tried to pop us off the plane going full throttle and banking hard as we were in our count on the first pass. When my teammates went back inside I couldn't even get my outside leg back in the plane without some help as I was strung out at tail. I just couldn't let my bud hang out there all by himself with no wind break! I got the "sincere" apology Sunday also.
  4. No it's not legend it actually happened a couple of blocks from my office. We couldn't believe it when it happened.
  5. After a conversation with Chuck Blue(skymonkey 1), I started rolling 4 and 4 tight on my Xaos 27 and have had virtually all on heading openings ever since with no "searching". Also, watch the horizon, not the canopy! Also after giving the canopy a good shake, all I do is put the "D's" in the middle pull the stabilisers in and pull up the tail and violla, nice openings!
  6. Crossfire 1 is the softest opening canopy I've jumped before I got a Xaos 21-88, but I know that you don't want one of those.
  7. Nevertheless, I believe that all three canopies are aimed at the same group of jumpers. We are looking for data here, not groundless opinions. You can go to rec.skydiving for that Brian I happen to respect your opinion greatly but as for groundless opinions you had RWS send me your 105 Sam in a Vector for 3 weeks to demo. I talked to you personally on the phone about that canopy. I demoed a Crossfire 99 and bought one. Year before last I demoed a Crossfire 2 89 during the TSR and decided at that W/L that I would try X-braced because I felt that I was way over the efficiency plateau of a non X-braced canopy. So even though I have not jumped a Katana, my oppinion was WELL grounded. Glad to see you posting more often now nonetheless.
  8. Brian, I think it should be more like Crossfire 2 vs Katana. I think the Sam is a step behind. Not to say that the Sam is bad, just not in the same league.IMHO
  9. I was under a 129 Omega just under 200 jumps 1.4/1 for about 150 jumps then to 1.7/1 under a Crossfire 99 then added weights to 1.8/1 for several hundred jumps. Went X-braced just under 1000 jumps at over 2.2/1 then to a 27 cell X-braced at over 2.4/1 typically with 4way weights. Probably real lucky early on to have not been broken on several occasions but flew very conservatively when the experience wasn't there and I jump over 500 jumps a year.
  10. A father watched his daughter playing in the garden. He smiled as he reflected on how sweet and innocent his little girl was. Suddenly she just stopped and stared at the ground. He went over to her and noticed she was looking at two spiders mating. "Daddy, what are those two spiders doing?" she asked. "They're mating," her father replied. "What do you call the spider on top, Daddy?" she asked. "That's a Daddy Longlegs." Her father answered. "So, the other one is Mommy Longlegs?" the little girl asked. "No," her father replied. "Both of them are Daddy Longlegs." The little girl thought for a moment, then took her foot and stomped them flat and said "Well, it might be ok in California or Massachusetts but we're not having any of that shit in Nebraska!!
  11. You sure about that? Of course I am, Rich P.wrote it! He wouldn't lie to me!
  12. Well, 4-way fervor is once again sweeping through the local skydive community. To prepare everyone for this year's TSL season, I propose that the members of 2003 Random Chaos hold a seminar for all 4-way teams and aspiring competitors entitled "How not to be disappointed by your TSL performance". We have a lot of valuable experience that we can pass on to these people. The course syllabus might include the following topics. (Your contributions are welcome): 1. have few plans 2. make even fewer practice jumps 3. always start your practice days later than the other teams - it makes them think that you're already good enough 4. don't sweat the details 5. when time to dirt dive, have teammates absent for smoke and bathroom breaks 6. if you find yourself all alone, don't worry, enjoy the solitude 7. set your goals high (have all 4 competitors survive through the end of the day) 8. gain team consensus on the beer selection for the end of the day (thus, importance of item #7) 9. always have one teammate with an odd jumpsuit color 10. be inclusive, rotate several substitutes into the team over the season 11. change the team name in mid-season for shock value 12. choose a team packer that can guarantee you a soft opening 13. ignore proven methods used by successful teams in debriefing jumps 14. use creeping time to scope out cute tandem students 15. geek the camera between points whenever possible 16. do not be diligent in paying for your video guy's services 17. do not irritate your video guy with long range plans. Five minutes notice prior to each jump is plenty. 18. encourage the biggest teammate to gain weight during the season so he'll have an ever increasing fall rate 19. always complete the last point that you're working on as you pass through break off altitude, even if you have just started a difficult block move 20. keep a firm grip on teammates as they attempt to turn and track. It amuses them. 21. do not set your alarm clock for mornings of TSL meets, as your teammates will be happy to make a wake up call. All this for a bronze medal!
  13. Try this until you knock the new off of it. You never know, you may just keep packing this way! http://www.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm
  14. No, just speaking of credibility in general. Most public forums don't offer a credibility profile option like DZ.com. Apparently some people feel much more comfortable commenting behind the mask but that is their prerogative.
  15. You can't possibly change someone's mind about something like politics and religeon. What religion are you? 3000+ jumps, somewhere in florida? Now that's a lot of credibility pretty sad.
  16. We never did figure out where those came from, did we?
  17. Get the facts straight. The Facts The following appeared in a local paper as a letter to the editor. This will put things in perspective: Some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One person recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point: We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember. It was started by terrorists on 9/11. Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims. FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida. He put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000+ of his own people. We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home. Worst president in history? Come on!
  18. QuoteIt seems that the most difficult customers that I get when it comes to canopy size happen to be either European or Japanese. They always want the smallest canopy, the smallest reserve. "How many jumps to you have?" "150" "What size canopy are you looking at?" "107" Xaos 27 cell! "Why a 27 cell?" "The 21 cell I have now doesn't scare me enough."
