  1. Ive jumped a storm a few times, as well as crossfires, saber2, spectre, even katanas, and nothing has performed like a $400 saber1 120. On heading almost every time, quick, but not too quick, swoops awesome, and was $400 with brand new lines. You can spend the extra $1000 on another wingsuit, or lots of jumps, but then again, im very poor.
  2. I resisted the longer bridle for absolutely no reason for a long time. Now that ive switched, ill never go back. Ive been known to take my flights slightly lower than average on occasion, and the 9 foot bridle and sabre 1 combination are amazing. on heading, fast but comfortable opening. People that dont jump a 9 foot bridle, just do it.
  3. The biggest similarity is that there are plenty of people doing both that have no business trying it. Swooping once you realize youre fucked, you usually have a chance to correct it enough to live, and maybe be completely uninjured. Base jumping once you realize youre fucked, you might just be fucked.
  4. Robi started a lot of things...Robi still does a lot of things.
  5. Wouldnt this type of device be highly variable due to where it was positioned on the body and the body position while flying the suit? Did you calibrate specifically to one body position, or pick a point that you assumed would never change in angle?
  6. Yah itll be tough if they have to improve on both aspects, otherwise once you get two bad ass fliers on a two way, itll be tough to improve. Oh, and i like it, not because yuri mocks flocking, but because it presents a different point of view.
  7. Thats fine and im sure very fun, but if someone with a tracking suit can stay up with what we are calling a WS world record, it kind of takes some of the point out of it. Im pretty split on the whole flocking vs. non flocking issue. I agree with Tony and Yuri that these suits are meant to fly, and nothing to me in the world is more fun than a ws base jump off a huge cliff in the back country. I also enjoy flocking with large groups and have been lucky to be on some cool stuff at lodi. Im torn weather to be excited by this thread or mindlessly bored.
  8. A very small wingsuit is a camera suit. I feel like there might be a need for a both horizontal speed requirements for a record.
  9. Dont give in!! I had a special little pride in having only my A for a long time. Then one bored day at the dz, I took the B,C,and D. I now have my D, but feel dirty, and still like to sign stuff with my A license number. Im pretty sure I can get my 12 hour now too, and ill also volunteer you mine.
  10. I want to know when all the lodi vs. davis stuff started. Ive jumped at both fairly equally, and like both just fine. I even like most of the people involved in the debate, well, not Glen. Ever since i moved here 4 years ago, theres nothing but shit talking. Perris and elsinore dont seem to do this stuff.
  11. Im only allowed to wear ill vision suits on special occasions, so I had to go with my own colors. Besides, I already had the black and green shoes.
  12. I think it actually came in exactly the promised time. Fits like a glove, cant wait to fly it off something!!!
  13. Does your mach1 have zips. Im actually not sure when they did and didnt put them in suits, but if you unzip them, the wings dont have as high of pressure in them. That being said, I didnt find a SMI excessively different to fly, as long as it fits you well.
  14. Not true, weve had several people climb straight into horizontal stabilizers!
  15. Nice, how long did it take to come?
  16. about 100 on an s3 with like 10 other suits demoed. probably 10 skydives and 50 base jumps on a v2. now love my p2 with maybe 30/15 jumps, but feel like it can do anything. v3 on order for hopefully jan. arrival.
  17. Id heard that he was the first person ever to jump the "heiger" exit. To my understanding, only three people have ever jumped it, and they were all done this year. I guess its a fairly positive exit, but an extra 1500 feet on top of the eiger is pretty ridiculous.
  18. Id guess dean goes about 6'4 170 and solid muscle for forearms. Ill bet those numbers arent that far off, that XS is gigantic.
  19. Hells ya, I only hooked up that V3 twice to never fly it. Spot, do you have any s-bird demos that will fit around 6'1? After a couple of days of fancy hotels, dinner, and business attire, ill be ready to sleep in a tent, skydive, and drink some beer.
  20. Anyone going to feel like jumping next weekend? I have two residency interviews in LA on thurs and friday and was thinking about camping someplace and jumping for the weekend.
  21. Ill let you know in about 2 months (hopefully)
  22. Which is the ill vision sector? Wish I could have been there instead of working in the ICU.
  23. Yup I love my phantom 2 for all around flying, kind of wish it had zips though. I notice that on some of the big suits everyone really shuts down to backfly, but i can fully extend all wings and get down the mid 40s. I was actually doing barrel rolls and back flew for about 6 seconds a flight in the swiss valley. To keep things even, I borrowed a SM1 for one camera jump this weekend, the booty slipped off and came up to my mid shin, and I had a 37 mph average after break off. Impressive inflation, but more than I need on 99% of jumps.
  24. I was worried about this too on washing my suits after a switzerland trip. I washed mine in the tub with woolite, worked great. I dont think id ever put my suits in the washing machine.
