If you have something like an alti-3 wrist mount, you can make your own mudflap altimeter for about $2 in plastic scrap. PM me for details if you want.

So interesting that this video is you. I downloaded that around the 3rd week I started skydiving in 2005 sometime. Little did I know how much wingsuits and skydiving would change my life.
-
Did my first two on a classic with Ed P in early 2007. Backflew on the second jump because I didnt know it was supposed to be hard, then people told me it was so I spent the next 50 jumps relearning.

I think it can be a little like head down, steep learning curve at first, but some people just get it. Just flip over and try it, or try to barrel rolls, they are fun.

2009 Elsinore event will be a 100-way... wait, what?
hjumper33 replied to Costyn's topic in Wing Suit Flying
So is the lodi 16 ways still the record or what? -
This is more what I was getting at. I dont know what the r/d rate is there compared to other companies, but I was hearing V3 rumors for months and months, and havent heard anything about a new BM suit that will blow us away in quite a long time. I, as im sure many of us did, had a skyflier as my first suit and an S3 and loved them. I remember getting excited about the IMPACT tracking suit and possibilities of base specific gear, and all of that seems to have fizzled out.

As our sport takes off to heights and performance platforms unheard of just a few years ago, one must pause to ask, what the hell happened to the company that was the "kleenex" of wingsuits just a few years ago. Are they working on anything new anymore, or even still producing suits? Everyone is posting pictures of their new V3s and phantoms and tony-suits, but I cant remember the last time I saw someone post a pic of their new bird-man suit. Anyone have any updates, because the last new product i remember being released was a pair of jeans... sad.

Tony looks so angry in that picture... or maybe just hardcore.

PneumothoraX!... Should l say NO to skydiving?
hjumper33 replied to matej's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
A one time pneumo is one thing. If youve got numerous identified blebs, the odds of this happening again are significantly higher. SKydiving is bad ass, but so is breathing and not having chest tubes. The safe way to be would be not skydiving, but if you want to try it, try it, just be prepared to live with the consequences. -
Hmm how tall is taka?

Im just glad the V3 means I could pick up a very nice and very cheap V2!

Skydive Sacramento in Lincoln?
hjumper33 replied to ruthiegirl610's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yup seems like a really nice place, though ive only been there once. Not as cheap as lodi, but not as much bill to deal with either. Lots of Davis people seem to be going there, and it does have a nice vibe. -
I concur, excellent jumps on sat, and I can only assume sunday. Only one real issue when I self inflicted a double burble, but damnit, I wanted that slot! Radios are freaking awesome.
-
I should be there sat morning on about 4 hours of sleep, but looks too good to miss. Hopefully not too much fog in the morning either. Youre crazy scott, itll be good to get back up in the air again, though im probably going to be a bit rusty and on a new suit. Couldnt be any worse than Glen though.

The real answer is if youre an marginally attractive girl you can probably get someone to take you for a base jump this weekend, but yes, the smart way is to do it like people have said above. For me with full time school, the answer was 4 years from my first jump until my dream wingsuit base trip which is coming up in may.
-
I might be able to make it out one of the days, hopefully weather will improve from what its been lately.
-
Yah but it never hurts to ask, especially if you are considering buying a suit for base jumping and havent had a chance to demo first. I know someone who jumped a SM1 for a few jumps and was fine, but that much wing makes me scared.

How many jumps did u have when u did your first wingsuit jump?
hjumper33 replied to mrbiceps's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I guess answering the actual question is good too. I did my FFC on my 150th jump, had good training, and it went fine. Didnt really start jumping a ton until around 300 or so though. -

hjumper33 replied to mrbiceps's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Do what you want I suppose, most people do anyways. If no one can talk you out of it, get a small suit, and find someone with a lot of experience to show you the ropes. As youll see people say a million times in past threads, you could be a natural WS pilot at 100 jumps, or ridiculously unsafe at 1000, depends on the person. jt, due to his profession, is probably in way better control of his body than the vast majority of the population, and seemingly just fine doing ws jumps at 50 skydives. You decide for yourself, but you live with the consequences, just make sure you dont take anyone down with you if you go down, cause that just really sucks. -
Wow, finally got to read the last 7 pages of this thread and catch up on all the bickering. Has any firm conclusion been reached besides the fact that glen is gay? Only other ones that I can come to are that people dont like something theyve worked really really hard on to be questioned, and people who arent a part of something spectacular can sometimes poo poo the results. Awesome job everyone who participated including many of my norcal friends.

Haha, yah thanks to monkey, but it flew damn nicely. Bad weather has stopped any base thus far. Flew it a few more times yesterday, still figuring out the little tricks, but averaging probably in the mid 50s while still screwing around a lot on jumps. Ill do a max time at some point to figure it out.

Flight School - A first year of BASE jumping
hjumper33 replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Yup, I see a lot of tippiness in those videos. I have a lot of respect for Chris because he took what he loved (climbing) and turned it into his life's work with his books, that are from what I understand, pretty damn good, and actually are very cautious. Now I just need money to travel around the world... -
In the past I have just worn my rig as a backpack or carried a stash bag, and then brought another small carryon and checked my luggage. Ive gotten more shit over my metal L bracket on my camera than my rigs.

Thanks guys. School is full of cutting people open at the moment, and trying to decide where im going to go for residency after next year. Oh, and not going to the world record, not jumping my new wingsuit, or my new HD setup.
