Jade looks like he had a nice showing in a tony suit in lauterbrunnen, just missing making it out of the qualifying round. Anyone else in the semis flying a tony suit?
-
Hmmm I like to think I know my shit, and ill say 40 seconds from high nose is pretty freaking ridiculous. Were you able to to do that consistently or did winds help at all? Nice freaking flying, ill still keep my V3 order, but much respect. By the way, how much is an S-bird anyway?

Hmmm I only wish that there were a speed based base competition held at a super commonly jumped valley that will feature fliers in both leading wingsuit companies top speed suits. Perhaps we will have a speed answer, or at least some objective data in a the coming weeks. Anyone going to be on site competing and able to give updates?

Pond is filled up at Lodi / Acampo Parachute Center!
hjumper33 replied to 4dbill's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Just remember that those $5 do not guarantee anything over 3k, and possibly slightly under, nor do they guarantee you flaps. By the time you get open and the fancy slider off the canopy, its time to flare! They were, however, awesome for making sure my repairs to my track suit wouldnt make it explode. -
Im just assuming you know the winds pretty well at that particular site, cause anything but a north wind and that bowl can seriously fuck you up. Say a complete collapse reinflate about 30 feet from impact there before.
-
Im impressed you remembered there was a thread about this 4 years ago. You officially know threads from before I even started skydiving.

Im not so sure it would have fired in the first place. I had to pop up to stay with matt because he became so floaty in the spin. What I do for others and what I expect them to do for me a two very different things. My student loans were going to pay for a cypress or a V3, and considering I dont skydive a ton anymore, the choice was pretty easy. 6 more months until I get the MD behind my name, so maybe then ill be able to afford one of them fancified auto reserve shooters. Until then, people may choose to jump with me/not jump with me/ save me from certain death as they see fit.

Quite honestly im not really sure why I kept on flying. I think I was kind of in shock and glad I saw a parachute come out, then realized I didnt know where I was on a DZ that I had never jumped at before and with no ability to communicate with anyone if I landed next to a hurt jumper in the middle of the desert. Once I realized that we were still pretty high, I thought I could get back down to get help well before matt landed with my fairly small canopy and his fairly large reserve. Once i landed and saw the reserve was heading back to the dz, and still quite high in the air, i was pretty sure hed be ok. My crew skills arent that good, and I dont think I could have caught up to his canopy if he was unconcious, so not all that sure what I would have done if I had pulled higher, but its a fair question. I did think about going and trying to knock him out of a the spin by trying to get above him and cannonball down if he went obviously unconscious because I knew he didnt have a cypress, but then again, neither do I. We joked that if the reserve pilot chute remained in tow, the really cool save would have been to fly by him and snatch it on the way through. I believe in later discussions that would have automatically allowed me to take my pick of any woman on the dz. Anyway, thank goodness it didnt come to any of that.

I think thats kind of the point of this, he couldnt bring up his leg wing because of the combo of fast spin g force and the pressurization of the leg wing itself. The part that isnt on film, of course, just shows the spin getting nastier and nastier.

I give permission for anyone who has it to post it as I am leaving for boston in a few days and probably wont be able to pick it up for a while, just not to sell it to anyone else, and not to put up anything else on my camera... hey she looked 18.
-
When is it going to be available???
-
Perhaps youll never know until you get there.
-
What happens when the combination of G force and suit pressurization are so strong that you really cant ball up? Seems like a lot of people say they cant shut the legs on normal deployment, let alone while spinning rapidly.
-
Glad Matt decided to post as I wouldnt have named him until unless he came forward. Video was left in moab with friends and was flown back yesterday, so probably in the next couple of days. Video is pretty far off and half the spin you cant see, but the reserve pilot chute in tow is there and its in HD.

I was one a two way with another jumper on friday, both of us were wearing S-birds, mine a demo, his was his own suit with quite a few skydives and base jumps on it. At around 11k, the other jumper was burbled and went into a flat spin on his back. For those of you who dont believe in the flat spin, I will post a link to video soon. The jumper spun at approximately 2-3 rotations per second for 5k feet. The G forces were so strong and the pressurization of the large leg wing so strong that he was unable to close the leg wing to stop the spin. He was able to unzip his arm wings, but not reach his main pilot chute. He felt he was about to lose consciousness at 6k and deployed his reserve while spinning very rapidly on his back. The reserve pilot chute deployed but remained attached the the rig for about 4 seconds until the jumper manually pulled the bridle to deploy the reserve. The jumper landing without incident, but was obviously very shaken. He had hemorrhages on the sclera of both eyes and later developed two black eyes. Its great that we can make large easy to fly suits with such strong pressurization, but this is definitely something to think about. Ive seen several flat spins and induced a few myself, and this jumper did everything right to get out of it, and simply couldnt. I thought my friend was going to die in front of my eyes.

Im excited to jump the biggest tony suit demo possible at the boogie! If some of you pudgy sons of bitches are getting 3.5 minutes, I should be up there for half an hour.

I went to lodi about a week after I had just moved to california almost 4 years ago and no one said a word to me on the dz that first day... except robby. In or out of skydiving, he was one of the nicest people ive met in all of my life. As so many have echoed, his smile was infectious, and he obviously meant so much to so many people. I cant imagine, and dont want to imagine, what Alana is feeling right now. Getting to know both her and Robby separately first, and seeing what phenomenal people they are, its obvious they were made for each other. Fly free Robby, I think ill still get to do a wingsuit jump with you someday.

replacement front lens cap for Raynox HD 3032

Piece of soft cloth and a rubber band. Thank you can also clean it off in the plane before exit. -
Phantom 2. Seems they improved it even over mine which was just before the zippers came out. I flew similar distances as my v2 in the valley, just took longer to get there. Really easy to land without unzipping the leg. Rock solid on its back, enough so that ive done acrobatics and some backflying on base jumps with it (not recommended early on, or really at all ever)

As much as I enjoy watching you skyhump jimmy, ill be in Bannf at my brothers wedding and hopefully doing a little wingsuit flying of my own.

If my arms don't burn does that mean I'm doing it wrong?
hjumper33 replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Wing Suit Flying
depends on the suit. My arms burn after vampire flights and not phantom2 -
Yo dude, Did about 100+ jumps on crossfires/wingsuit ranging from 139-109. At lower (1.3-1.5) wingloadings, I found that they were fine and sniveled well, few twists, questionable heading performance, but worth the swoop. The 109 was loaded at around 1.7 or so, and got very spicy on a couple of jumps. Elliptical in itself is not that bad, the higher the loading, the more potential for a cutaway, just like any jump. Also Katana 107, seemed to be a good idea 90% of the time, but when it went bad, i was glad I pitched at 5500.

A Few Pics of Some Birds from the Weekend
hjumper33 replied to ScottGray's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I never really understood why some people backfly with their legs so close together. I guess I need to get wingsuits 202 -
Fair enough, I just like to jump too. I think that instantaneous glide of 4.0 is probably legit for 1-2 seconds. If you flare out, you still have similar forward speed with a big reduction in descent, you could get a pretty good glide for a tiny fraction of time. I think the 2.7 average over the whole jump is probably correct. Agreeing with justin, id rather just wait to fly the suit and figure it out myself. The great thing about wingsuiting is the crazy variety of suits out there. I fly my P2 for flocking, the V2 for base, and ive borrowed SM1s and an XS for ridiculous time flights. Cant wait to get my V3 order in though!

How come with all the gps data floating around theres no glide posted for this suit yet? Everyone also seems to have ignored that new video showing the 2.7 glide V3 BASE flight circulating around.
