  1. Not intending to slam anyone, but the only one I saw had fairly questionable build quality, might have just been a prototype or one suit, i dont know
  2. Wow, a real thread on a performance and technique with arguements, counterpoints, and name calling. WELCOME BACK WINGSUIT FORUM!!! ITS ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!!! feel free to get back to revert back to arguements about who's flock is bigger now and how you measure it whenever you feel like it.
  3. I wanna play, i wanna play!!!! Im not sponsored by redbull, so I must not be any good, but I still want in.
  4. I thought he was more doing that to burn off altitude without veering off course and without gaining too much speed to overfly. I dive my apache all the time without any wobbling, though its not as stable as a vampire or other in a steep dive
  5. [url]https://vimeo.com/28187656[url] https://vimeo.com/28187656 X-bird that looks like it legitimately flies up at two points in the video as compared to static objects. Lift is proportional the the square of speed, the faster the dive, the more stored energy. It's not sustainable anyway, so who cares, but I fully believe in flying a wingsuit up briefly.
  6. Within a competition at a dz on one day, it totally agree it should be fairly close. I meant more in the online world of paralog stuff. The variables seem less variable given cliff X vs. all that can go into a skydive on a given day in a given country. Spot you should know that im a marginal wingsuit base pilot at best, and and even worse skydiver, so id never dream of trying to win one of these comps ;) But of course id love to fly with you again any time, if these damn patients would let me leave the hospital once in a while.
  7. No, not saying its better, which I will go ahead and say now though, but it just makes the most sense and a easy and reliable way to measure glide. Wind conditions will vary slightly, but no way as much as at 13k where you can have a 100mph wind in any direction. Youd need the same aircraft so everyone could pop up the same, the same upper wind speed which would be pretty much impossible to do. The comps are fun and its cool to look at glide, but in no way is it a real world measure. They dont let you get a flying start before they time your 100 meters at the olympics.
  8. Then the planes speed would come into play. The only true measure of glide is and will always be people base jumping from the same exit.
  9. This is like asking to how to make love to a sexy lady, just do it, if youre doing something wrong, youll figure it out.
  10. Little quick math shows a average fall rate around 40 mph for the whole jump. Pretty intense, althought jhonny is like 6'0 and 120 lbs. nice work!
  11. Looks like a perfect exit to me
  12. Yup, this seems way more real and doable than the ramp idea. No offense to jeb, but for the last what, 5 years, maybe more, weve heard "i need more money, we are developing a secret technology", this guy is like, "fuck, lets just stack up a bunch of boxes, ill land in it", and a couple of months later its happening. Sure hope it works, and all those speed numbers seem realistic to me, just will be hard to judge the distance. Anyone know if hes wearing a base rig for backup? Pack slider down, you could bail at 200 ft and still be relatively ok. Just remember, if you cant be safe, be spectacular.
  13. Maybe 5 more vampire owners just saw that thread and said hey, i have the same problem, thought it was just me. I agree if you have an issue you should contact the manufacturer, but whats wrong with posting it in a forum too. I feel like recently both the two largest manufacturers have been trying to be all secretive with any problems. Obviously if you only talk to manufacturers (or representatives of the company) youre going to get biased opinions. Consumers are allowed to express opinions, positive and negative.
  14. How come no one is allowed to question or complain in public anymore?
  15. Ive owned an s1, s3, V2, V3, P2, and my bastache. I have sold all of them but the bastache because I never flew the others. Id personall get rid of the stealth and the v2/v3. X2 basically the same as stealth, and V2
  16. Can we do a vintage flock at Lodi? There has to be a ton of older suits around. Nothing allowed newer than a birdman s3 or a v1. Tony suits will be allowed, but only if they have the original webbies!
  17. No, the last step should always be profit!
  18. I think most suits can handle a moderately shitty exit, which the video does not depict, fairly well. Look at Jebs now famous "grinding the crack" video. Thats about the worst wingsuit base exit ive seen in a while. Guess he just needs A LOT MORE PRACTICE as you say.
  19. Ok, the plane will be a cessna 172 with exit at complete stall, and I wont tell you what vent is closed. But im a pretty shitty wingsuit pilot to begin with, so I wont even agree to attempt it. Oh and just to spice things up, we'll make the exit altitude the same as the video, 450 meters ;)
  20. Tape up one of your arm vents, get out of the plane, see what happens.
  21. Yah this is one of those videos that made me say, oh shit if it can happen to him... Wingsuit base isnt crazy in and of itself, but plenty of people definitely do it before they are ready. But i do think its crazier to spend $1800 on the biggest and best suit in the world and then try to slow it down enough to the glide of a decent person in a track suit...
  22. High in wingsuits? High in the Xbird? High in # of BASE jumps? Yes Depends what you consider high for wingsuits base jumps, probably more than I have on my apache Yes
  23. Experience level of the jumper in the video? High.

I agree that it's best to contact the manufacturer, but it's nice to have a group opinion and shared experience to know if an issue you are having is a common one, or it's just you flying like crap. I haven't seen any bashing at all on here, just sharing of experiences. Isn't that what we are supposed to be discussing in the forum? If I wasnt getting the same glide as someone in my v3, I wouldn't call up Robi right away, but that being said he is incredibly helpful and a great guy and I'm sure willing to answer any question about his suits

What happened with the flapping while diving issue?
