  1. His new name is "The Fire King". After watching Iceage during a weather hold this weekend we all decided "The Flaming One" was something we'd try and make stick To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  2. We did all the events except for Freestyle - and yes it was super windy. The speed and distance suffered, of course, but overall everything went well. I'm sure Jim will post the results soon but with the new weight classes there weren't really any 'runaways' and it was an awesome experience. 3. There's nothing 'relatively light' about a 2.0 loading. Jay still flies his 103 at 1.9 for fun. Don't kid yourself and I certainly don't recommend buying a canopy size just so you can load it at 2.4-2.5 for a CPC comp. I competed last year at 2.1 and this year @ 2.3 and been able to hold my own just fine. With the new rules it's very apparent how much it's about pilot technique. Additionally I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of wing size rule come about (along size loading). The purpose of the weight restriction was safety. Ian Bobo and I were chatting this weekend about it and he too felt that we had to be careful about encouraging a 'reverse trend' towards highly loaded tiny wings. 5. Good thoughts on staying on something bigger while you familiarize yourself with a wing. It's been said a million times before but downsizing and changing planform isn't usually the best thing to do. If you don't mind me asking, what's 'a little experience' on the safire and ST, and what size PD 7Cell do you do the bulk of your jumps on? Safe landings. 6. Because if their profile is correct they're jumping a PD 7-cell. Not sure the smallest they make those but I'm SURE that the move to a XF2 will be enough for right now. Blues. 7. I'll be 30 in a few months. Did the rates adjust again there? To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  8. Hey Chuck, No they didn't ask about years of riding, but I believe Remi is right. I think they look at years of driving (anything). Unfortunately since I've lived in the states I haven't had a MC license so if they DO count that I'm screwed regardless. I also plan on doing the MSFT (or whatever it's called) to help bring the rates down. Besides, a refresher won't hurt in the least
  9. Yeah. I see a lot of parallels between sport bike riding and canopy flying (mindsets not skillsets). It's been a while since I've ridden, and it's been brutal not to be on a bike in a long time, but I can't wait to get back in the saddle. Hell, maybe a SV650S is a better choice? It's been another of the recommendations for someone getting back into riding. Not sure if that bikes insurance will be the same though. 10. Yeah we're USAA members. USAA apparently sends motorcycles to Progressive. Still, I'm going to call around. Statefarm turns up a lot in the bike forums and I've gotten a couple of other good leads there too. Thanks everyone. 13. Will give Geico a shot. Checked out a forum for sportbikes and got a few suggestions there too. I know not having one will bring the insurance down but I've just always had and enjoyed riding the sport bikes more. Worst case I'll buy it cash and just get liablilty. Thanks. 14. Not good, but still better than 3900 for just the bike. As usual, insurance=scam. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  15. Hey folks, I've been itching to get back in the saddle for some time so I called my insurance company today to get a quote for a CBR600f4i. The fuckers wanted $3900 A YEAR!!!! I have a clean driving record, married, over 25 blah blah blah all the usual stuff that brings down insurance but WTF?? Anyone out there have any good insurance companies to recommend that are decently priced? Oh, btw Progressive gave the above quote. Thanks. 16. Not sure about peripheral vision, but I hate it when people have green canopies that blend into the ground when you look down. I prefer 'unnatural' patterns or something that makes the canopy easier to see whether it be from below or above or peripherally. 17. Cable used to have MTVX - hardcore music only. Lasted for about a year, maybe a little more then the station was scrapped. Cable sucks
  18. Nope - sorry dude. Can't fit it in the schedule this year To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  19. Good. That's all that ultimately matters as you are your own worst enemy in competitions (you being any of us as we all tend to place pressure on ourselves to perform). Now think about something you'd like to improve for the next comp, work on that and try and accomplish it the next time around. 20. I finished 32 out of 34 at my first competition and lets just say the other 31 competitors were Eons ahead . Doesn't mean anything other than you've taken your first step
  21. Katie just had a touch up done and it was no eye makeup for 2 weeks. Drop us a line if you have some questions about it. Blues, Ian ps: Happy birthday!!
  22. Our team rates went up about 2 dollars and a regular lift ticket went up 2 as well To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  23. yes. You cannot pull the cable out. I'm pretty firm with mine and no problems in over 500 jumps on the system. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
