Good job Brad. I, for one, am ecstatic to see non x-braced canopies in the CPC! Best of luck for the season. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer

I'm sure Isaiah will address this, but it's my understanding that openings (consistency) were an issue. Performance Designs wanted to put out a product that opened and flew like all the other Katana's. Scaling doesn't work (although some manufacturers do it). PD continued to refine the sizes until the product performed to their criteria and expectations. Ok what canopy should i buy from this list
ntacfreefly replied to airborne82nd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The Sabre2 isn't outdated in the least. Other than that Skinny has the right idea. We can speculate all day on what would be best for your criteria but demo'ing is about the only way YOU will know for sure. Have fun and be safe -

Ha - not yet - but I know I'm not getting out of it I'll take my punishment like a man whenever they decide to dish it out (just keep that crap off my gear!!)

Did my 2000th on Travis and Brie's wedding dive with my lovely wife. Couldn't have asked for a better person to have done it with. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer

While you may be determined to make this a race thing, the rest of the rational world see's it differently. It's simply 2 objects sharing the same color - hence the hypocrisy of the statement. It has nothing to do with 'color' at all. Look for boogymen and you'll find 'em. http://www.dell.com/html/us/xmen/index.html I was a little worried when they changed directors. I saw some more raw footage that had me worried about the dialog and presentation but I think I'm all ok now

Agreed - but these same people also put in years of training and preparation. That's where your example falls down. The people referred to are the equivalent of the average weekend hiker deciding to go climb K2. Blues. Oh sorry - I didn't realize that justified it. Thanks for clearing it up You don't support their concerts (so you say), you'd rather pirate their cd's (so you say) - so how exactly do you support good bands? Blues. As did I Darius. You guys were a great group of people to work with. Very receptive and fun to jump with. I think the progress of everyone over the course of the weekend was great and I look forward to watching you all continue to improve. Thanks to everyone for having me out there. I can't wait to see you all again soon. Blues, Ian ps: If any of you want/need my contact info just PM me here or contact me through the jumptown banter. I'll be happy to answer any questions any of you may have. To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer -
No it's not. It's a great way to build dependance on your arms for flying which is exactly what you DON'T want. Yeah, I agree. It's pretty much a universal thing too. To the original poster, MOST fallrate issues with sit flying are related to leaning forward (the most common mistake for everyone to make) or not having enough pressure to keep your knees below your hips like Matt has already pointed out. Try and get some video and make sure that your body position and technique are appropriate. I agree with people that weights are not necessary (although I can see what Drew was trying to achieve with their usage). McDuck wrote: This is a technique I use often to teach people what kind of pressure they should expect to feel on their legs and feet. LEARNING how to swoop, long or short recovery arc?
ntacfreefly replied to jheadley's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yeah cause throwing material into a hurricane produces predictable results each time I agree you can REDUCE your chances but you can never eliminate them. By the shear nature of the amount of variables (and combinations thereof) there are on any given deployment you will never have the same set twice. Hope you remember that flying your canopy. You can't do safe front riser approaches either. Just SAFER. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer -

I have 2 more jumps until 2000. I'll probably wait to do it on the wedding jump with you guys. Maybe. Just depends how nice the weather is To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer -
Agreed. Being ON the deck before rolling the wing over is critical. I've hip checked and hurt myself, and seen others skip off the ground by getting 'excited' and starting the move too soon and then sinking into the dirt. As for the actual move, it should be smooth (toggles or rears is fine). As mentioned in another post keeping enough toggle input on both toggles is important to pitch yourself through the carve. It's a little hard to explain online (the physics of it all) but the sequence of the move is: Level out (critical), bank the wing over as much as you feel comfortable with (less in the beginning), then pitch the canopy through the move by pressing down on both toggles (or risers) like you're starting to flare. edit: My preference is to start cross wind and carve into the wind. It makes the landing much more comfortable. Disclaimer: Whenever possible it's best to practice these moves over a body of water. Especially as they get more and more aggressive. If you think they're the best rock band of the last 10 years, why wouldn't you support them? You're spiting the artist too. Blues, Ian ps: I'm all for D/L a CD to see if it's worth buying, but if you determine it is - at least support the artist.
