Paul Rossouw at CPI CPC this weekend
ntacfreefly replied to ntacfreefly's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Paul Roussow will be offering free coaching to all competitors at the NE CPC meet at CPI this weekend. He's a good guy with good info. I highly recommend competing (even if it's for 100% fun) and taking the opportunity to learn from him. For those interested I'll be at the meet in Lebanon over the July 4 weekend, offering the same thing. Hope you all have fun. As already stated you cannot get the skyhook on anything other than a vector right now. I think both options are good rigs so you wont go wrong with whatever you choose. I was referring to the Velocity and 500/750 HMA vs 500/750 Vectran. I have no idea what PD's plans are with HMA but the technora brand that Dave is talking about is 300 HMA (very thin). I currently have the 300 on mine and it does make a difference. However that distance comes at a price (both literally and figuratively). When lines break more than one tends to go. The technora lines are coated and require much neater packing. Of course, none of this has to do with the KA, so back to the original question at hand. I'd call PD and get an HMA lineset. I think you'll enjoy your KA more over the lines lifespan than having to deal with trim issues. Hansie wins Speed event in Colorado? Rumor?
ntacfreefly replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
It is. Eldon had a rough time, first a 30mph downwinder (long story but funny as hell video) and then he ended up pounding in really hard during a team speed round doing some avoidance. Tough bastard though. Just kept on ticking -

Your bigger loaded wing will go further than the same smaller wing at the same loading. Being able to load a 150 at 1.9 is plenty advantage To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer -
I believe 500 and 750 HMA has been in the works for a little while now for the velo. I am unsure what the testing status is but I know of at least one velo out there with it on. When they plan to release it to the public, I have no idea. Not sure there are really any significant performance benefits to the line type that will be publically available though so I'm not sure how critical it is. Replacing microline with HMA on a KA is the smartest thing to do. I believe the KA now come with HMA 'standard' but I'm sure you can still get microline if you want. HMA is the way to go. Maintain your lines though - they wont be as forgiving of poor maintenance as spectra. Sweet. I heard about your decision - I think you'll love it -
If you see those as 'america hate speech' you have issues. I can pretty clearly see the point he was driving at (agreed or not) from those quotes. I'd hope you'd be able to as well. So you were the low man and he turned anyway and had a close call? Sounds to me like he was at fault more than you. Spotting canopies that blend into other objects is always a huge problem. I'd ask him not to repeat the performance

It's a problem of not clearing your airspace before turning. Regardless of the turn direction you will ALWAYS have a blind spot. Look before you hook. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer

You were there this weekend (Sat)?????? How in heavens name did we pass one another by and not meet? Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer -
Agreed. It's easy to misuse the technology but it has some really cool uses too. Googles beta live search is pretty damn wild as well. We use AJAX for some stuff but we're trying hard to not get carried away Sangiro, what feature(s) are you trying to implement in AJAX? My pleasure man. You did great. I couldn't be happier with the dive and everyone on it. Thank you for letting me lead it. Nice that we finally got to jump together. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer

We dont have any pics of the actual tracking jump but we do have video that Jello Jay was supposed to get and take up to California with him. We all took a few pictures on the ground of the people involved in the jumps and as soon as I have them I'll post them.

Scotty Carbon, Derek Thomas, Tami Carbon, PopsJumper (Andy), Chris Spence and 2 others (sorry I'm drawing a blank) did a lovely RW dive for GFD. I lead a tracking dive with Thanatos (Jello Jay), Kele01, Travis, Brie, Katie, Yardhippy and Dave Kraney which went great as well. Interestingly enough Yardhippie had the best swoop I've ever seen him do. Right on the money - and he was whining about not progressing. Thanks for the good times. BSBD. Ok, Ok. I promise to stand next to you more in public places to make you look prettier. Sheesh man, little extreme don't ya think - you just had to ask Seriously though, you already know my standpoint on this. It was good talking to you yesterday, and just because (for now) you're taking a break from the skies doesn't mean you're taking a break from our lives. See you soon. Being dependant on anything is bad (other than your ability to save your ass!! hehe). Try to treat left and right turns no differently. The only aspect that sets them apart is our mental blocks. Work on breaking through them and realize they're nothing more than mirror images of what you would have seen with your preferred approach. Being versatile is key. Blues!
