  1. Hehe...my job here is done if I've managed to make more work for Kolla Glad my responses made sense (even if they only apply to my own opinons)! Blues! Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  2. 1. I don't like the shallow toggle stroke at all. I find the openings fine, but not great. I don't like the amount of rear risers I can use on it. I don't like the extremely flat trim. I don't like how short the recovery arc is. 2. As a swooping canopy I find it's use rather limited. Not because someone can't swoop it (it's a VERY swoopable canopy) but rather todays canopy designs have longer toggle stroke, steeper dives and, generally, better response on the rears. For someone who just wants to have fun and spiral around a lot it's great. As a tool to prepare pilots for higher performance wings available today, there are better options. I do think that for bigger ways where a quicker opening is desirable they are suitable as well, of course that is slightly offset by heading control but that would be a factor on any of the other wings I mentioned, combined with a longer opening so in that sense I'd say the ST is more suitable as well. 3. That document is old. Show me comparisons between a similarly loaded Sabre2 (I bet it goes further), KA and Velo. Those are more modern designs. Hope this answers your questions. edit: While I dont have a boatload of jumps on ST's I do have 300 or so jumps on them and equivalents (Heatwave) in case there was any question that I'd even jumped one Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  3. Then we need to work on your transition into your harness. Lets chat about it this weekend and see what we can come up with. I'll even bring my tight red shirt To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  4. John, I totally understand your frustration. Oftentimes we think we're plateau'ing when all that's really happening is that we're improving in smaller increments. You see, in the beginning our progress is really noticeable, as we get better it becomes more and more refinement and that gets harder to notice. But keep at it and you'll slowly notice improvements. Now, there are some other canopy options we can talk about, I have the luxury of watching you jump each weekend so I have a good idea of where you are. Finally, I was going to train this weekend for next weeks PST meet - if April will be there and will shoot vid we can go through debriefings together and see what we can do to refine your landings even further. 5. Thanks! That's pretty much the answer I expected
  6. I just happen to not like it's flight characteristics compared to more modern designs. For the right applications I still think it's a great canopy but I believe it's uses are more and more limited in the current market with newer designs available. Of course, to those pilots who still absolutely love their ST's. Party on - they're just not for me
  7. Cool thanks We just got a huge crate for her. We do take her everywhere we can right now but we'd NEVER leave her in the car. I had dogs as a kid in SA and know that's really bad news. We're currently giving her food in the crate and it's her sleeping place. Will try. hehe - she's frisky a lot but we'll try it. Taken notes of all the rest - great post, thank you so much. 11. Not gonna happen. As it is we took her in as a stray and we're not about to box her up for weekends at a time Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  12. Kolla, When we're educating upcoming jumpers about the KA, especially at lower loadings, does Performance Designs have a minimum recommended number of jumps for the canopy? Basically I'd like to find out if a jumper with 200 jumps says they want to fly a 150/170 KA (instead of a S2) loaded at 1.2 what Performance Designs recommendation would be? I assume the same advice that would be given for a XF2 would be appropriate? Blues! 13. Yeah - she's great with people (and other dogs). We had planned to bring her out and leash her during the day but we want to be sure we're doing the best thing we can. Thanks for the tips people, keep them coming - except u weegee To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  14. I used all my ductape on Katie To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  15. Katie and I just got a new puppy and we were wondering (from dz dog owners) what the best way to go about training her to be around a dz safely and without being a nuesance would be? Any tips would be appreciated. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  16. That was the plan anyway - this does make the decision easier though To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  17. Right there, in a nutshell, is where it's at. Blues, Ian To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  18. Just got a puppy so I doubt Katie and I can make it. Maybe, but probably not. Have fun! To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  19. I have a white one too!!! If they made XXXXXXXXL I'd offer to get you one To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders. ~ Lao-Tzu It's all good, they're my brothers ~ Mariann Kramer
  20. An important skill. IMO EQUALLY as important as learning how to make decisions early enough not to need to flat turn. Except for last minute avoidences, if you're doing a flat turn, you fucked up and let yourself get behind the curve. Addressing that is FAR, FAR, FAR more important than landing into the wind. edit: to be clear I'm not advocating 'landing into the wind', it's a mindset I detest. Instead I'm a strong advocate to landing in the set direction (same as everyone else) for the load -however you set it. 22. Read the last 10 years incident reports (particularly canopy stuff). There are a lot of 'turning into the wind' incidents and fatalities (each one reading almost identically). I wish it was part of the first jump course....... As always, it's a result of poor planning and approach to canopy flight. If you're making that decision that late, you're way behind the curve Hope your friend heals up.
