It's cool reading about parents that are supportive of skydiving. My parents, who are known for yelling, didn't make a peep when I told them I was gonna make a jump. Now THAT scared me. Anyway, it freaked them out so much that I told them I changed my mind. Don't live at home anymore, but when I did my mom would see my Parachutist and say "you better not be skydiving!". I told her that I liked looking at the pictures, which was absolutely true. It would be nice to be able to share that with them though.

While I am a fan of Peter Jackson (way BEFORE LOTR stuff, btw), I am not sure that is saying much. all previews are made the same way, trying to appeal to as many different people as they can. unfortunately, they all look, sound, and try to seduce in the same way. Every preview I saw was awful the last time I went to the movies.

Officially jealous. I need a music source, damnit! My hotel room has a CD player, but did I bring any CDs? Noooooooo... There is nothing worse than forgetting to take music and books on a trip. -
You beat me to the punch, he was excellent in Richard III...and I think it's a great adaptation too. That movie messes me up.

I never seen The Machinist but he dwindled down to 128 lbs (he is 6ft) to play the role. The doctors recommended he didn't go below 135. Yeah, that's pretty intense. GREAT movie....he was, and in my opinion, always is nothing short of excellent.

good question. It is certainly a much "smaller", more intimate film. Again, Ashby wanted to show what was going on at home and how the war affected people no matter what they believed. It's definitely worth a look. Some might say that besides being a great period piece, it may still be relevant.

easter time greeks eat this soup called "magirista" which is basically lamb head/gizzard soup. Afetr the soup course is served, we got down to eating 1/2 of a lamb's head....everything except the bones, mr friends. and they ask us why we drink!?

Chick Flick. I seriously don't think "Coming Home" is a chick flick. It may look like it on paper, but it is a rough ride. It's also one of the first films showing the effects of war while deciding not to show the war itself. great movie....Hal Ashby is the man.

I think Alec's a decent acor, he was great in Malice and The Cooler. agreed.....especially in THE COOLER. That movie really got under my skin, especially by how flippin dark it got in the end. The was one of the few roles he has had lately that he could really sink his teeth into. Btw, I think he is always good on SNL too.

I just loved how he just matter-of-factly took the ax or whatever it was and bashed the fucker's head in near the end of the movie... Quote "some people call it a kaiser blade, mmmm-huh"

the asian guys make me laugh, those guys doing the Spice Girls make me throw-up a little in my mouth. -
underrated (but not by me): real women. Walter, buddy, you are one smooth operator.

See that's the thing. I actually find Lyle incredibly sexy because he's so talented and funny. I can kind of overlook the fact that he's kind of goofy-looking. I have felt that way about Lili Taylor ever since I saw "Household Saints" and "Dogfight".

he blew his wad after PLATOON and WALL STREET. Even then, you know Oliver Stone was exploiting a certain vacuous/naive quality he posseses. You know, like Scorsese did using Winona Ryder in THE AGE OF INNOCENCE. Sorry, didn't mean to gender-bend the thread.
