What music makes you get CRAZY and want to dance?!
thegreekone replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
it's a shame that few ppl have ever listened to that whole album. It's awesome and TAINTED LOVE is a good song, but probably the least interesting and ambitious. that said....probably just the best wedding song. -
play the sountrack more often than I care to admit and I think the movie is pretty great. forget about what he whispered to the scarlett johanson character. I don't think it was ever about the getting together as much as it was about intimacy. in the end, they enable each other to swim back to the surface of their own lives...to feel again. Those early scenes before they even met were so important in terms of character development, or lack thereof spiritually and emotionally. I loved that lunch scene when they argue. They know each other so well they know how to draw blood. GREAT STUFF.... and scarlett has a lot more than 4 years ahead of her. she is brilliant and is going through this faze of getting offered EVERYTHING on the planet because someone in hollywood was smart enough to see how talented she is. see GHOST WORLD and tell me she's not talented. Bob Goulet...THAT NOT TALENTED.

Just kept waiting for the payoff which never came. -- Which is the whole point of the story EXACTLY..

I knew it was based on a true story before I went, just thought it would have a little more...umfff...to it. I do not doubt it's accuracy at all, it just seemed slow. people often compare movies to music, and like in music, the space between the notes can be as important as the notes themselves. Your comment about there being more umff could just as easily be construed as commentary on the war itself or how the soldiers feel about it, as well as how it relates to the plot. (how visceral or realistic, etc) huh?

Pitbull Attacks 6....Why cant people understand?
thegreekone replied to eeneR's topic in The Bonfire
QuoteObviously, it's the owners, not the dogs. I've known folks with pit-bulls, Rotweillers, Dobermans, etc. that thought they were lap-dogs and would love you to death before they'd bite. I think you have a valid point with regard to owners. That said, the pit that mauled my greyhound was a sweetheart when it came to people, it was only around other dogs that his instincts swam to the surface. That kind of territoriality (word?) on the street NOBODY needs. -
the layering is well done, but not over done. likey

I just want to add that the color of the medal doesn't make a champion...it's the content of one's character. I've never seen anyone have more fun than Bryce!

Pitbull Attacks 6....Why cant people understand?
thegreekone replied to eeneR's topic in The Bonfire
my greyhound was mauled by a pitbull and if he wasn't wearing a winter coat I would lost him, without question. Omar is 80- pounds of muscle and this pitbull had him around the throat and was shaking him like a rag doll. It all happened so quickly, even when I got in between the dogs the pit got around me in a sec and I literally had to punch it repeatedly till he let go. Owner did NOT have a harness or muzzle, which is required where I live for a handful of breeds. *shaking head* he has not been the same since with other animals, even little dogs make him caitious. -
0 : 0 : 0 between work, family obligations, and 25-40 mph winds, it has been a uneventful weekend. but hey, I also have paperwork and academic journals to loook forward to, which S-U-C-K-S!!!!!

QuoteBoth NIN and Depeche Mode are coming in concert to FL BEFORE I move there this Nov! why does it always seem that something you want to see either shows up when you aren't around, or comes before you arrive? If I didn't have bad luck in this regard, I wouldn't have any luck at all.

I figured the ice cream would be the popular choice... ice cream or orgasm? sounds like a bonfire thread if there ever was one. I seem to recall Dennis Leary talking about his dream moment being eating an ice cream cone on top of the Empire State Building while getting a hummer from Cindy Crawford. (i'm paraphrasing, of course) Does that answer your question....for guys I mean?
-
But we need to get back on topic.... ICE CREAM!!!!!! smooth, real smooth.....

Top it off with some Baclave! Nummers! Quote you and shari are alright in my book! my grandmother used to make trays of a flat style spanakopita (spinach, feta, philo/puff pastry) that would last all of a day at our house.
