They run thousands of websites all over America including Hawaii, Alaska, Peurto Rico, Bahamas and more that claim to offer Skydiving and all kinds of over "High Risk" experiences in places that they do NOT have locations for and they DO NOT tell the customer until long after they have sold them a worthless gift certificate. There probably is. Those ads are a Javascript and these a setting in most computers that turn that off, but the problem is the average surfer has it turned on which brings us back to educating the public about the scam and how to avoid it. Getting sites like DZ.com and others who have the ads on their sites are a good start. If the customer don't see the ad, they can't purchase the tickets, or it at least makes it less likely they will. for anyone is looking for the ads, you may look at your DZ listing and anywhere else on the site you frequent. The Google ads are keyword and content triggered, so if a page like the one I just posted has a listing for something like "Skydive Alabama" or Skydiving in Alabama", their ads are programmed to trigger. They are also geographically targeted, so their domains in the ads will show up in areas that we can't see based on the IP of the surfer, ie; I'm in Nashville, I can't see what someone in California sees. So this is going to take a collective effort on our part to work with the mods to get them the info they need to get these ads removed. The attachment is what they are having to do to block sLyride from running their ads. They have to add each domain individually as they show up. Refuse to Lose!!! Yeah, Advertising in and to a community that does not welcome ANY of their advertising! If someone buys a GC from one of the ads they found here on DZ.com, then later finds the gift certificate is worthless, that makes the whole skydiving community look like a bunch of scammers, and given all the damage them fuckers have already done to our sport, they need to be kept as far away from sites like DZ.com as possible. Getting them banned from Google would be the ultimate step in cleaning up our sport. For now we just have to keep educating the public as aggressively as possible and to get to the customer before sLyride does. Refuse to Lose!!! Hey Darrell, That's ok, don't worry about them whining about what it says. You may remember why Nashvilleskydiving.org became a consumer alert in the first place. It had one little sentence in the fine print, that said something that directed the surfers to the other DZ's, and they kept whining about that so, you see now the whole site talks about their scam. They brought that on themselves just like they always do. As I have said multiple times, it's not written for the enjoyment of the jumper, it's written to inform the Whuffo of a scam that is taking place in the world of Skydiving and other "Extreme" sports. Something else, this is NOT a skydiving issue! It's a business issue! Chuck called me last week and tried to get me to take the sites down, then he went off into this spill about he has several thousand jumps and has jumped with whatever teams and done this and done that, he, and those guys don't get the point, it don't matter if it's Skydiving, Shark Diving or Race Car driving or whatever, It's all the same to me and I try to cover all of it. According to the Race Car Schools that I communicate with, there are no known schools who accept the sLyride tickets, and yes, there is a consumer alert about that as well, but there's no whining about that. The same for the sharks and the other venues. There's only about 6 known Glider companies that take the tickets, and they don't even whine about it. In fact, there's one Glider operator who last linked to skyrideripoff, and has a page about them, but accepts their tickets because he's backed in the corner because people in his area are getting screwed, so he helps them out. The story is longer than that, but the same old story we've all heard. It boils down to Internet Piracy. It clearly states that "The Skydive center in Waverly is part of the scam", referring to having sites advertising to have locations they don't have. Unless I can't read, that's pretty clear to me that there's a DZ in Waverly. If you see something that I don't that says there's no Skydiving in Waverly, let me know. I think you are partially wrong about that. I drive stock cars and I can tell you that my reaction time is a lot quicker than before I got in to driving. It also makes you more aware of your surroundings and of the possibility of what can happen, even though that's a closed environment, you still never know what will happen. Skid/Spinout recovery, staying clam in a wreck scenario are other skills that do translate. Obviously we can't use the "Chrome Horn" to move someone out of the way on the street, so that's one driving skill that won't translate to the street. Refuse to Lose!!!
