You would be correct about redirecting the customers to the real DZ's, as they get a lot of traffic looking for skydiving in what ever city, and currently, the most popular search words the sites are getting are, "Sportations.com", and "Sportations Scam". The problem with these keywords is that they are past tense, the customer is already stuck with a useless sLyride/sportations GC and trying to confirm that they have been scammed. No worries though, we are working to get in between the customer and sLyride by getting at or close to the top of the searches for general words like "Skydiving", "Hot Air Balloons", "Racing" etc. Jan's sites and the others out there are doing a really good job of educating the customer about the sLyride scam. As for traffic, My stuff is getting about 10,000 unique visitors a day and about a 70% CTR across 41 domains. I don't know what DZ.com or USPA.org is getting. Refuse to Lose!!! I'm heading out now, and no time to do the screenshot, but it appears that the blocking is working. As of this afternoon, the only sLyride URLs I see in the Google are skydivegeorgia.com and astskydiving.com. Taking a stand isn't always convenient. If not giving money to those who "support" Slyride is important enough to warrant canceling a subscription to a magazine for skydivers (a small business run by skydivers), why is it not important enough to warrant canceling your membership to an organization that also "supports" Slyride - and in a much bigger way than sending some swag for a boogie? If you aren't willing to be inconvenienced by your "protest," then it doesn't really mean anything. (rant over) i had to drop my rig off at chutingstar (connected to the farm hangar where i jump) to get the reserve repacked and was in the area, and happened to stop by since it was the middle of the week to see if i knew anyone there. i do not support ASC or SKYRIDE in any way. i would be happy if they shut down, but we need them gone for the right reasons. any dropzone that is closed because of airport problems or plane maintenance issues looks bad on the entire community. It's not the link. Like I said, no one except the people who run Craigslist really knows what determines which ad gets ghosted. I've ran ads, that got ghosted, then reposted the exact same ad and it showed and it sold the vehicle that was for sale. Then I got the idea to post the ad that I described earlier that points people to the ghosted ad and still sold what ever I was selling. Next day - the ad still does NOT appear. It DOES show up in my list of ads in "my account". Here's the ad link: http://houston.craigslist.org/bks/2128242866.html Note that it says it's in the Houston books section. So then go to the Houston Craigslist, books section, and do a search for that book title: http://houston.craigslist.org/search/bks?query=semper+fi&srchType=T&minAsk=&maxAsk= And you get "nothing found". Is it viewable by the public? Or not? Go figure... Here's the problem, your ad got "Ghosted". That's one of the sneaky, underhanded things that Craigslist does to keep the spammers away, but they screwed up and put that function on steroids, now nobody is immune to getting Ghosted. The only that I have come up with to get the ghosted ad to show is to make another ad, and write it so that it says something that will point the surfer to the ghosted ad. And you will need to take to URL from your email and make it into a clicky. Make the redirect ad something like, "There's a really good deal on a Corvette for sale in this Craigslist ad!" (or what ever product you are selling.) And add the URL as a clicky. The best thing to do to keep from getting flagged is to use the Craigslist ad URL as the anchor text. That way they see a Craigslist URL and it don't raise any red flags to the flaggers. As far as I know, there's no way to get around it, Nobody knows how to get around it, and nobody has figured out a way to stop them from doing that. for more info, just Google the words "Craigslist Ghosting" and you will get all the info you need. Is this another way to impose your sLyride affiliation and affiliated website on the Skydiving community? You may remember in the last thread that discussed your PROSkydiving website, how we exposed your affiliation with sLyride and how you intend to use PROSkydiving.com to get in between the customer and the DZO. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Skydiving community and the DZO's DO NOT NEED another (any) middle man! The same goes for the other sports like racing, balloons, shark diving etc. **Note to ALL DZO's*** Do your own marketing!!! Websites are cheap and there's plenty of readily available programs out there to help you do your own site, or maybe some of your jumpers will do it for you, and once you get it done, it's not hard to get ahead of sLyride and PROSkydiving in the search engines.
