Well, my graduation day finally arrived! I've had only two jumps to go for the longest time, well maybe not the LONGEST. Just a lot of weather screw-ups. Well today was perfect. I got to do my final jump at sunset and it was breath-taking. I did tracking on this jump so you can guess what I was focusing on. When I landed and heard my instructor say "Congratulations you are now a skydiver" I actually started crying! What an amazing day. Thanks to all of you who have cheered me on along the way!

Walt, I must admit that I did not read the whole thing. Yes it was too "out there" for me but I still believe it would have beat the base story in the polls hands down! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Too bad you didn't post this one yesterday. I started a poll this morning entitled "what's your favorite Walt tale?" Your Base story won by a long shot....but this one would have beat it without a doubt! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

...and please feel free to comment on any that I have missed. These are truly entertaining to say the least. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Linz, I know you are in the medical field but what is it that you do? You have so much knowledge about a lot of areas. What made you want to work in the medical field? Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

A year ago, I would not have believed we would be moving back to the hill country (Texas) and I CERTAINLY would not have believed I would be skydiving. I'm totally stunned at where I am now, but I LOVE IT!! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

***Push off at 45 and watch your nose! Good luck! __________________________________________________ LOL! I face the instructor now and he pushes me off the step. It's fun! This past Saturday we had wind gusts of 30 mph...so I was grounded. Maybe next weekend

***static line also teaches you reeeeal early about line twists and kicking out of them.... __________________________________________________ Amen to that! I've had two lovely line twists so far. The first time I also had a malfunctioning radio so I got to land without instruction. Talk about a confidence builder! Anyway, I don't think I would have done that well with AFF and definatley don't think I could have made it work financially. Also, going out of the plane by yourself and hanging off of the strut is another awesome way to develop confidence. BTW, I'm supposed to graduate from SL tomorrow. Hope the weather's good Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

***Did a two way head down with a rat and one screw off jump. __________________________________________________ Was the rat Bryan Moffett? If so I think I was on a load with you. I was visiting family in that area and did a fun/student jump. I believe I may have seen one of your exits. It was awesome! Our first son was a surprise and we were married just 3 years when he was born. As someone else mentioned, there is never a PERFECT time to have children. We had our second son (planned) almost four years later. Sure we've had some difficult financial struggles, but we are better and stronger for it. There are always advantages and disadvantages to having kids at any age. We, personally, are happy we had them when we did because we won't be too old when they fly the coop (hopefully). As for not having time to yourself, I think it's VERY IMPORTANT to make time for yourself and do your own thing sometimes. First of all, it benefits children to see that their parents are individuals and have their own lives. Plus I've always believed you can't give away what you don't have. When I enrich and do for myself I am a better mom to my boys, and a better wife to my husband...And of course like someone else said, it's all about balance. Okay, didn't mean to sound too Dr. Philish. This has just been my personal experience. Good luck to you both

I'm an SL student in Texas. It has been wonderful. I took ground school and did one AFF jump and found it slightly overwhelming. I love the gradual nature of SL. I'm a freefallin' fool now and only have two more jumps to go until graduation! You will love it. Good luck and have fun! P.S. one of the threads called Static line vs. AFF was started by me.
