    Both my grandfathers escaped Holland prior to the invasion and spent the rest of the war fighting. One flew many mission in south east asia for the KNIL as a pilot on a b-25 bomber. The other a captain with the Brittish infantry. I think it is pretty obvious that America could not have won this war on its own either....

    it all comes down to attribution. I believe that the original story came over the AP wire. It stated that family members claimed that 11 out of 12 were found alive. That line is factually correct. Family members were reporting that, that is how the story broke. Those news outlets that did not attribute their information to some one made the mistake, and they should apologize for that. However, they did not make up the story, they forgot to put in the correct attribution.

    and then you follow with: it doesn't even make sense. So violent incidents with an array of weapons (which could very well mean that firearms are down, yet the other weapoinry increased) are up. Incidents in which no harm was done....and you some how correlate that to the effectiveness of gun confiscation?? Was one of the stated objectives to reduce violent incidents with clubs, knives, glasses and bottles?

    Nope, I would congratulate them on successful execution of their emergency procedures. Then I would hope some one would be smart enough to go over the course of events to try and minimize the chances of it happenening again. (and I never anywhere mentioned that I thought she should not be allowed to own a gun, but then making up arguments to support your positions isn't anything new for you is it?)

    Actually the legal gun owners have nothing to fear from this. But it does make it more difficult for those caught with an illegal firearm to get bail. I don't see anything wrong with that.... (before you start flaming and spewing, I will direct you to an earlier post in which I said I do not agree with this gun ban)

    I agree with you, I don't think it is a big deal. To me it also means that there is no such thing as free speech, just different levels of restrictions.

    The American Public broadcasting system is absolutely laced with censorship, both on tv and in radio. There is a complete government organization in place to monitor and regulate what is broadcast. How could you not call that censorship?

    No, we were talking about Toronto, a city in Canada. I know Canada is hard to find, but look on a world map and look for the second biggest country in the world...... Hint, it is just north of your country..... Does that mean I get to judge all Americans by the statements of a few of your politicians...boy, this is going to be fun.... Didn't you guys just bury an openly racist politician who was banging a black chic on the side.... It is kind of funny to hear an american talk about how to bring about a reduced crime society, specially since violence is such an incredible part of American society.....

    I agree that we do not spend enough money on our military. No debate. but, we also have to keep things in perspective. Do you have any idea what an incredibly expansive area we are talking about? What incredible resources would have to be used to completely seal that area? The financial cost of that could never be bared by only 30 million people....keep in mind how much smaller our population (and therefore also tax base) is....yet our land mass is certainly much bigger....

    I am in Toronto and yes he is an idiot....and you are absolutely right...the fact that guns are much easier to obtain in the US (though relatively easy to obtain here as well) has nothing to do with the problem of smuggling them into Canada. That is an issue with Customs and Border control.....

    Actually the best version of that song I have ever heard was by the Blind Boy of Alabama, not sure if they were still called The Five Blind Boys of Alabama at that time. They sing Amazing Grace to the music of The House of the Rising Sun. Just the clash between the meaning ehing both songs alone is worth it, but it actually sounds amazing as well....
