    Exactly. Unfortunately those options are seen as bordering on communist. If only they would work harder, everything would be fine is frequently heard. Or how lazy they must be etc. I have mentioned it before in a different thread. You need a strong middle class to make society work. In the US (and many other Western countries) you see a large decline in middle class and a growing disparity between poor and rich. This is causing problems, which will grow in scope and severity over time.

    Every family can set their own rules and make their own things mandatory. I ahve no problem with that concept. Doesn't mean I cannot state that I don't agree with making it mandatory in a family for young kids to use weapons. I can't believe I have to explain this part: that doesn't mean I think the government should be involved in banning it. It is entirely possible to disagree with somebody and NOT want the government to be involved. Agreed. On a larger scale, the conversation as to when the government is responsible to step in to protect the wellbeing of minors is interesting. (Obviously not limited to guns)

Figures you would need a rapper to define what is derogatory for you. Again . . . your supposition is baseless. The ghetto culture offends me, does it offend you? I think the ghetto culture is a reflection of how many people feel. It offends me in the sense that as a society we should be able to do much better. We should be able to shape and create a society where far less people feel hopeless, oppressed and without future. Maybe the thought should be, why do so many people identify with what you call "ghetto culture"?

    I am not complaining. I am stating. Allowing people to make criminal allegations and supressing all dissenting opinions will always be wrong in my book. I don't care whose forum it is or if it makes your dinner time less pleasant.

    this instructor wasn't a family member. Really really awful for that girl. The Uzi is lighter than something like the MP5, but small enough for this to happen. An uncontrolled rifle would start drifting upward to the ceiling in a burst, but unlikely to do a 180. Doesn't seem appropriate for a young kid. She just wasn't trained properly. At least she won't let that happen next time.

    I would agree with the "fucking moronic" what the hell are these people thinking Except "you" do give cross bared canopies to newbies. At least a couple of people get killed each year because they are on canopies too advanced for their abilities.

    I can think of about 8 other posters than you who be crushed into the dirt for that statement. Of course it would be a strawman and a purposeful misread along the lines of - "no one deserves to be raped" or "sure, they were just asking for it" (I don't believe you meant that, clearly. Just commenting on the recent posting here in Speaker's Corner, it's been particularly painful and pointless due to those tactics). At least in this forum you are allowed to state there might be more than one side to a story. In other forums on this site you get banned for that.

    I don't let my 8 and 10 year olds drink, because it can do them harm. Not because I am afraid of alcohol. I don't think a rapid fire beer would have done much harm to the Darwin winner... Thank you for completely avoiding the actual issue. Keep handing those firearms to kids.....or at least keep pretending it could never happen to anybody you know....

    Sad . . . Not surprising in the least, but definitely sad. the profs do that kind of teaching there you know. That really shouldn't matter. In most other countries people have learned the difference between those two objects weel before university. Guess you needed a university professor to make it clear for you.

    How much experience and competence do you expect in a 9 year old? None. Which is why an instructor is there. Who should have thought that perhaps a full auto will lead to the weapon getting aay from her. The bitch now is the trauma of a little girl. A dubious idea. Poorly executed. All she needed was a dad and grandpa to teach her firearms safety and this would have never happened. Or so I have read here many times before. Kids and guns just aren't a great combination.

    Don't think history has proved that an armed populace is able to overthrow a government fully backed by it's army though. I mean the thought was wonderful when the founding fathers dreamt all this up. And I am sure they were right at the time. Currently, I don't think they would be right, nor do I think the clause holds any water on those grounds.

    So in that case you don't use it becuse you think they are offended, but you don't require proof. With the term "redskins" you first require proof that a majority of natives are actually offended. I sense a bit of bias, probably based on whether you yourself actually find it offensive or not, which would be perfectly normal.
