In that article this story was mentioned, nice to see some communities do get it right!!! http://www.click2houston.com/news/caught-on-camera-rosenberg-police-officer-plays-catch-with-boy/24004536

Is this some kind of competition for you? Because the south side of Chicago is a fucked up cesspool of gang warfare it is ok for the cops to shoot an innocent man in the toy section of WalMart? Both are tragic reflections of current society. Both indicate that change is required. Unfortunately without drastic measures and a long time frame, there is no answer.

Arkansas gun range becomes the first to exclude Muslims
SkyDekker replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
LOL, you are clueless. You are so brainwashed by this cult you live in you need mental help to be integrated back into normal society. You are 75% down the road to becoming a homegrown terrorist. It would take very little to convince you to take up arms. Acting like a child and trying to go after TK was just the first step....you'll keep going. Some one else mentioend this already, but you are exactly what is wrong with America. If there is to be fighting in the US, it is because of people like you and the cult you belong to. -
WHich will lead to greater resistance against police officers, which will lead to more force and a higher level of force projected by police, which will lead too... And the circle goes on and on. Looks like the side effects of all this freedom leads to a large amount of violence to contain these freedoms, which leads to more violence to protect freedoms, which leads to even larger violence to contain the freedoms, which leads to... Could the "AMerican Model" be flawed? Maybe the Founding Fathers had it wrong?
-
Why would you want to? You can get shot for doing what a police officer is telling you to do. On top of that, many seem to think that is ok.
-
That video is disturbing on many levels. The fact that the shooting is deemed to be justified is even more disturbing.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2014/09/30/cdc-confirms-first-case-of-ebola-in-the-u-s/ In an ever mobile world, this is not really that unexpected. This will start spreading some fear though, not much doubt about that. Will likely also result in a much larger response to the outbreak.

I think your meat example is specifically handled by this:
-
Its a fetish among thousands of others. Go to any porn site with user up-loadable content and search for drunken/passed out if you don't believe me. And depending on the study you read, rape is the most common sexual fantasy for women (other studies have it listed in the top). That doesn't mean that women actually want to get raped. Fetishes and fantasies are not necessarily indicative of actual conduct.
-
Depends on the gender of the person.
-
Because when both claim that they were too drunk to remember if consent was given, one is getting charged with rape and the other is a victim. I will let you figure out which one is which.
-
Yup....like I said, only one gender is expected to be responsible when drunk.

Arkansas gun range becomes the first to exclude Muslims

Some people will see this as perfect justification, some people will facepalm. -
Though in practice that is not how it works. There is only one gender which is expected to remain responsible for their acts when drunk. Shouldn't the other person's level of intoxication also be a factor? Let's not genderfy this as the situation could be reversed or even in a same sex scenario.

So it is only terrorism when it is beheading? Many killings in the name of christ, or for a specific "cult" of christ. Protestants killing Catholics and vice-versa and the list goes on and on. What I was trying to understand is why violence by a muslim american is terrorism, but violence by a christian american would not be.
-
But every violent crime by a Christian is not right?
-
Eventually . . . how many "kids" are leaving the house at their age? Going their own way and leaving the house are two different things.
-
So in order to blame Islam, we would have to establish this nutbar would not have killed a (former) co-worker if he wasn't Muslim. Anybody want to make that argument?
-
Well......it isn't polite to speak with your mouth full....
-
Looks like Iago and Normiss are polite. It's just those damned tourists from Canada that are rude! true

Around 2008 I was indirectly involved in a motor vehicle incident in Eloy. The police were called and I sat on my chopper and waited beside the road for them to attend. I was leathered up and the sun was beating down. The police showed up fairly quickly and I was asked for some identification. I carried my wallet inside my coat, so, smiling at the officer I immediately unzipped and began to take it off to get my driver license for him. Only after I retrieved it and put my jacket across the bike did I notice has standing behind his patrol car door. He then lectured me at length to be "more careful in the future" when reaching into my coat for a policeman, suggesting that "90% of the bikers down here carry guns." I pointed out my British Columbia license plate and laughingly said "we Canadians don't really have guns, much." It was a harmless encounter, thankfully. But it was certainly a moment of culture shock showing the fundamental differences between our societal norms. And one I'd rather not repeat. Just an example how the potential presence of guns doesn't make for a polite society, but rather increases the chances of a violent society.

Agreed, and my intent with the quotation marks was to highlight the use of a colloquial term. Sadly, this topic has been so politicized and polarized, that all we have left are co-opted labels (sort of like the abortion issue...). If any on that side of the discussion have a preferred term, let me know and I'll gladly adapt. They're really aren't just 2 "sides". Many people, including myself, have moderate views and try to harmonize all of the policy concerns of this issue, even though many concerns are in tension with each other. "Terms" themselves, I think, part of the problem. Exactly. I know the US has a constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. I believe the US has a huge gun problem, or at least has a problem which is exarcabeted greatly by the easy access to. I don't believe that banning guns is a solution. I am happy the country I live in isn't struggling with this issue.

if my son died while attempted armed robbery/murder, I wouldn't be so crass as to hold a 'vigil' at the crime scene in public. I'd endure the grief and shame in private. These kids didn't make "a bad decision." They made many, and I'm sure many more beyond this incident. And so we have established that everybody is different. I wouldn't do it either. But then I also hope never to have to find out what theya re going through.

In my opinion you already live in a police state if that is what you have to do prior to the cop having even drawn his weapon.
