Congressional candidate contesting election because...
SkyDekker replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Agreed This why we have the president we have today Maybe. I think that if Bush had done a better job the election would have been easier for Republicans. Picking Palin as VP candidate was as stupid as letting this guy run for office though. Hard to believe that in all of the Republican party there wasn't a better candidate. -

I thought the reason you didn't want to post your conversation about what actually happened was because you don't want to speculate over 2nd or 3rd hand information? -
Congressional candidate contesting election because...
SkyDekker replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
It will always amaze me how a political party can allow people like that to represent them. To other issues raised in this thread: IMHO too many people are single or double issue voters. As long as the candidate agrees with them on one or two key issues, they don't look any further. (or simply don't care) -
Yeah it is right in the first sentence. Let me translate it for you: Thsi just gose too sho that who ever gut trainin be mitackes be mde and we'll be made

There are two groups of people who this relates to
SkyDekker replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Marc is quite simple to understand: Polls are fine when they confirm his opinion. Polls are useless when they do not confirm his opinion. Journalists/media are fine when the confirm his opinion. They are useless and under Liberal control when they do not confirm his opinion. -
American tourists held in North Korea to face trial
SkyDekker replied to stayhigh's topic in Speakers Corner
if your family came from there, you might have an interest in seeing it. Some travelers romanticize the developing world lifestyle, though NK is a rather extreme version. I was in Nicaragua (the poorest of Central America) last summer and there is something to that sentiment, though I was somewhat less a tourist, there to provide sweat labor to build a high school. I was in Nicaragua on vacation a couple of months before you and had a great time with my wife. other than Managua my wife and I found it to be very safe and extremely welcoming. Granada is beautiful and San Juan del Sur was a great, though somewhat touristy destination. We would certainly go back! -
Every time I read about someone pointing a gun they presumed to be unloaded at a friend and pulling the trigger, I wonder if they did exactly what they intended to do. Ain't that the truth Every fibre of my being just does not compute how FUCKING stupid it is to accidentally shoot someone. Even the act of pointing a gun at someone unless I intend to kill them in their tracks is just not something I am ever willing to do. That was a very basic lesson that the grandfather cuffed me a couple times because I messed up with muzzle control... and that was the very simple lesson. Only point a weapon at another human being if they have decided they want to die. Good post Much the same happened to me but add one embarasing exception. I had a range officer in an indoor range chew my ass about 15 years ago when I brain farte and lost sight of my muzzel direction Chewed my ass out in front of all there I had it coming I never forgot again (to date) This just goes to show that how ever good training is, mistakes get made and will be made. Unfortunately mistakes with tools like guns can be severe. It is what it is. You play the game, you pay the price.

+1 OK poster comes on to vent about a perceived bad customer service situation and gets accused of 1) flaunting his financial situation 2) trying to rip off a starving rigger 3) harassing the poor salesperson after just having lost her father did I miss anything? That's it... for now Tune in for the next episode where I receive the rig and swoop down double dropkicking a line of starving cambodian children* to the floor before setting the whole thing on fire and sending it back to store with a letter of complaint. *Imported for this one time stunt using my disposable income of course You should give your rig to the guy at USPA responsible for safety and get him to dropkick the Cambodian children...

“No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer”
SkyDekker replied to Amazon's topic in The Bonfire
There aren't many sports I don't enjoy watching -
No it doesn't. Both parties can be unreasonable. In the end the store won their $60 argument. But they have lost future business from this customer and possibly those this customer talks to. Sounds like even if both parties were unreasonable, the store made a stupid decision. This day and age you gain customers and market share by treating your customers very well. A $60 decision could possibly have bought a lot of positive word-of-mouth. If the facts as told (from one side) are true. Then I don't think the question was unreasonable, just poorly timed. Whether the store's response was unreasonable doesn't matter. It was just a poor decision. (Never mind that the store lied to their customer to begin with)

The X-ray was taken, processed and had to be read by a radiologist. It's not their fault if the doctor didn't communicate the results. Sure it is, they have given the doctor privilege in their medical facility.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Accidents like these are the price you pay for the 2nd Amendment.

A number of reasons, but you have to figure in all of them including tax benefits. When the bean counter counts ALL the beans it makes "sense" to wager the employee will die. And that's entirely possible and believable. We pay $X in policies, we have Y employees die each year. Y*Z> X. I still find it REALLY disturbing. I have worked at several places where basic life insurance was an employee benefit. Not million dollar life, but a couple of ten thousand. Payable to your family, not the company. Such life insurance is a pretty standard item in Canadian benefit packages.

national sales tax. Don't tax food items unless they're sold ready to be consumed. Don't tax clothing and home electronics/appliances during certain times of the year (once a quarter for instance). Drop all the write-offs and deductions. States already collect sales tax. States already send money to the federal govt. YES PLEASE!!!!!!! This would be great for the retail market in Canada.

Rich Winstock Swoop Incident Cover-Up
SkyDekker replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
First: Then: So in one case you don't want to repeat 2nd or 3rd party accounts. But, in the other case you have o problem doing so, and calling it the issue you find most troubling. -
Meh, makes sense to me. An employee suddenly dying has costs associated. Grief counselling, temp workers, hiring process, possible loss of knowledge. My guess is if insurance is taken out, it isn't for the company to get rich, it is for the company to cover those costs.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. One man's blunt assessment of a situation is another man's dick move. That phrase might apply to either or both situations here. Again, sorry you feel I was being douchy. Then again, you'll notice I'm not crying like a little girl with sand in her vagina about it. Meh, you have already indicated you are biased on the subject. Clearly your adjustment isn't just blunt, it is tainted with your emotional attachment to the issue.

I do know I'm being correct. 100% And it has zero to do with pedantry. It's simply what words mean. The money he used was disposable income. Hell, it was even discretionary income. Don't make it sound as if there's some magical knowledge I need in order to make that determination. There isn't. Unless a person is a professional, buying skydiving gear is a 100% optional activity. The simple definition of Disposable Income is what is left over after taxes. Like I said, if he paid with borrowed money, he is not paying with disposable income. Whether what he is buying pertains to an optional activity or not has nothing to do with the determination of disposable income. You don't need any magical knowledge, you just need some basic knowledge. You are right, it has to do with what words mean. Maybe you meant it was a discretionary purchase.

Riot Control Drones - Coming Soon to a Riot Near YOU!
SkyDekker replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
If your theory on lack of traceability is correct, how do we know it's not already happening? Pretty sure the traceability pertains to perpetrator not victim. -
I don't think he is in any way criminally liable for that. Americans love their guns, some will be used for good, some will be used for bad. Just the way it is, which isn't going to change. I also wasn't talking about criminal liability in any way. The girl who acts like a slut, gets drunk and mutters no 5 minutes into getting laid is also not criminally responsible for rape. But, I certainly hold her partially responsible for what transpired.

In the analogy the gun owner is already covered, since stealing is already illegal. For the analogy to hold up, the gun owner is never to blame for guns getting stolen, however easy he makes it. Can't blame the victim right? You and Kallend already have, so we've been trying to get a feel for when it is their fault rather than the burglar. Rape and theft are illegal, yet people are willing to blame the victims of each over a wide range of situations. When a buddy tells you he left his wallet on the bar and when he went back the next day it was gone. You wouldn't tell him it was stupid to leave his wallet on the bar? I simply don't believe in this idea that a victim never has any blame. I tend to believe that people should have some responsibility for their actions. I further don't believe that fault is an either/or thing. If a gun owner leaves a loaded gun in his front yard, and it gets stolen and used in a crime, there are multiple people at fault. The gun owner for being careless. The one steeling the gun for theft. And if another person uses it to commit the crime, they are at fault as well.

agree with this Also seems to me that most of the posters were slamming the OP for trying to rape some poor rigger. He has spent half of his posts 'splaining he expected the company to pick up the riggers tab. I don't see that as an unreasonable request. I would not have come on here bitching about it but not an unreasonable request all the same ^this
