  1. I sell Vigil and CYPRES2, and will likely sell Argus when they are released. The Vigil will not suffer from a "lack of maintenance." A Vigil can be maintained same as a CYPRES. The difference is that Vigils are not required to be sent to the factory for arbitrary maintenance. If it is not working, it will not pass its self test, same as a CYPRES. Do you really believe that if something goes wrong with a CYPRES it is always going to occur exactly at the 4/8/10 yr marks? If it doesn't (and it probably won't) then the CYPRES is just as likely to fail as the Vigil (neither unit is prone to failure). IMO all the maintenance checks do for the CYPRES is make the unit temporarily unusable while not in rig, cost the jumper money, and give the jumper a false sense of security. If something is found to be not working properly during routine factory maintenance, it is highly unlikely that it failed between removal from the rig and the factory check.
  2. Yeah, well, you know...I thought MP3 players were relatively new too...
  3. Does it support podcasting? To me that is way more important than supporting WMA. Out of all my audio files (too many Gig) I have exactly one WMA file. I have far more acc files, but mostly MP3s. But podcasts kick ass.
  4. When I lived in the barracks, I programed into my remote control (before programmable remotes were very common) my roommate's power, channel up, and channel down commands. For several months I was able to make his television turn off or change channel at the worst (or best depending on your perspective) possible times. Since I also did it some during commercials and such, it took him a long time to figure out it wasn't his television.
  5. Isn't it sad when you have to come to Bonfire to find a good argument?
  6. The thing is, what I do with iTunes is beyond the capabilities of Windows Explorer. I can simply move my music files around outside iTunes, just like any other files, and more easily with Finder than with Windows Explorer. It is still not as convenient or as easy as working in iTunes, though.

This used to be announced daily at the DZ.
  8. You will never convince me that using Windows Explorer is better than using iTunes or Finder. Sorry. I'm not seeing how you are saving time or effort by working outside of iTunes. And iTunes offers so many extra features, many of which can save users a lot of time. Perhaps you are using an old version of iTunes? Maybe you just haven't explored the capabilities of iTunes. Or maybe Apple is just evil in your mind. I don't know. But your complaints seem to be unfounded. Drag and drop seems pretty easy and intuitive in iTunes.
  9. The first part , no. The second part yes.
  10. Or we could just stop starting wars. That would save us much more money than discontinuing aid. It would build more goodwill towards America, as well.
  11. You have lots of freeware options with the iPod. Personally, I haven't found one with increased functionability over iTunes, so I stick with iTunes. Apple makes really good software. It may not always be the best, but it is seldom shit. I'm not seeing a drawback. You are essentially complaining that you have to store your music in the iTunes folder. What difference does it make what the folder name is? You can access its contents outside if iTunes all the same. I will admit that this limits iTunes as a secondary audio player, but what software is better, if you listen to many audio files? I do know people that prefer a lighter player, but they don't really listen to much music on their computers, or have iPods. Why do skydivers tend to buy Sony video cameras? They work very well for what they are used for. Why do skydivers tend to not rush out to buy the latest parachute models? They like to see them "test" jumped for awhile first. MP3 players are no different. The iPod has earned a good reputation. Others may do the same, but many don't want to be test users if they have to pay full price.
  12. While I tend to use MP3 format over ACC, in spite of ACC being higher quality per MB, I find iTunes to be the easiest interface to organise my music I have ever come across. Primarily because it does just show me the files and let's me do what I want with them. The smart playlists are incredibly convenient, and a huge timesaver. That's not to say that there is no room for improvement with iTunes, but it is far better than any other media playing software I have used, including Windows Media Player. As for which player? I prefer my iBook, as I could pretty easily fill a 250GB hard drive with mp3 files, so an iPod would be way too small. I must admit, though, the Nano looks tempting for a short playlist, with the right form factor.
  13. "The ideals which have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth. The trite subjects of human efforts, possessions, outward success, luxury have always seemed to me contemptible." Albert Einstein
  14. I agree. Knowing who posted the video serves no purpose, and would likely only cause problems for the poster. It's video, not an eyewitness account. The credibility is not dependent upon the identity of the person who posted it.
  15. That he did not advocate worshiping idols does not invalidate Siddhartha's message, or make him any less a prophet. Jesus did not claim to be god(like) either. That is something the Church added later. Lao Tse and Chuang tse did not advocate worshiping idols either. The philosophy of the eastern masses is such that different metaphors are necessary to convey the same message, in comparison to Westerners.
  16. Yeah, more like that... Billvon 2008
  17. Okay, but you have to pay shipping!
  18. My roommate was taken for a pretty significant amount on an item he purchased that was well used/worn out and advertised as new sealed in box. PayPal didn't do shit for him. Buyer beware. Use a credit card instead whenever possible so that you have some recourse.

  20. >>Yep. Apparently Clint Eastwood is brilliant. >Yeah, but he ain't no Moses. They're about the same age, though!
  21. Would you chop at 101ft slider up? Nice to see you back on DZ.com, Perry.
