  1. But aren't the higher pricre worth it in the long term? higher initial capital outlay will bring benefits in the long run - LESS money will be needed to clean up all the shit left over from still using mainly fossil fuels etc, and plus the new system wil be in place and hopefulyl running smoothly - a mixture of all types which create mimnmal if not no pollution + less would be needed to be spent on treating illnesses linked to pollution. However, like you mentioned before, there does need to be a balance - the economy can't die at the expense of a perfect environment
  2. What about methane lol, im sure all men could help in that front
  3. Well which ever you choose, Good luck, be safe and have fun!
  4. But isn't that weather dependant - if it was cloudy or whatever reason, you wouldnt be able to get all the energy you needed to power up the world.- if you needed it urgenrly and it was bad weather, youd be kinda in trouble!!! + isn;t nuclear cheaper?
  5. IMHO, (in other words, take this with a pinch of salt - only a student), the tandem would be a very good way to start if youre have any uncertainties - and is the bets fun - nothing to worry about. AFF level1 is great but much more demanding than a tandem, - a tandem would certainly alleviate door fear as you would know roughly what to expect - in other words, you would have experienced the fear once before so you would know what it felt like it. The best advice though i could give you would be to ring up your chosen DZ - explain your fears and what you wanna do and what you think and see what they recommend. Not only are they the experts but they are the ones who would be training you so their advice would probably the most sound. Good luck ,man, Im assuming you plan to take the sport up fully?
  6. Not when they are in coffee!
  7. Oops. i see what you mean. Ill change the original post about having exempted china and India, You mentioned nuclear power., do you thjink this is the solution, if countries have the money , to producing the same amount of energy with less pollution ? What about wind power and turbines and all natural resources? Agreed, the USA has and still does do well in cleaning any pollution, but could it do more do you think? (don;t get me wrong, i fully see the point of developing the state for the citizens, but it could be done better do you think - with the system it has in place now, - in other words, without the 5 other plants)
  8. Certainly there are some environmentalists that do oppose nuclear power, and IMHO, are wrong to oppose it. If contained, Nuclear power produces helluva lot of energy and no pullotion. But itis radioactive and takes thousands of years to lose that radioacticvity. Overall though. it is a veyr good investment and one of the ways forward.
  9. "After barely more than 60 days in office, President Bush has placed a distinctive mark on U.S. environmental policy, rolling back campaign promises on clean air, reversing Clinton administration initiatives on drinking water, and promoting new oil exploration in previously protected regions. And now the White House is taking steps to have the U.S. withdraw its support for a landmark 1997 global warming agreement signed in Kyoto, Japan. Environmental Protection Administrator Christie Todd Whitman told reporters the president had "no interest in implementing it." White House spokesman Ari Fleischer was even more blunt." " America, and many other countries around the world, and other fast developing and modernising contries, are paying slightly more attention to their industry than helping preserve the environment and world we live in. Such environmental problems such as global warming, pollution etc are damaging our health and increasing the chances slightly of destroying our planet . Do you think these countries have the right balance, and are doing all they can , but need to think of their economy first? Or do you think they should put firstthe health of the world and protect the environment at the expense of their rate of growth? Are they and we doing enough, or do we need to do more? Any comments appreciated.
  10. This might come out weirdly, but im really glad you do enjoy it
  11. IMHO, skydiving is a beautiful and colourful sport with endless oppurtunity and immense reward - but there still needs to be a balance. It will prob take up most of my freetime, but i still do have other hobbies - variety is just as important. Although i do think about it pretty much most of the time.
  12. Sure, people are peple. But on the whole,as a society, they rock, and i have very strong personal oppinions as to why this is so. Every country has a lot learn, but USA is still one of the best IMHO. Just my 0.02. But very good rational post Tony, youre helluva lot wiser than i am. - no sarcasm at all.
  13. I must admit, there is helluva a lot that people around the world in many countries that don't appreciate what America has done for them America is a great civilisation - not the hope of the world and all that stuff, but a nation where generally very good values are held and where democracy thrives. That mught sound like fantasy world stuff, but i think the American media and indeed some, but very few, citizens keep critiscising themselves - they are a great nation. I wish they would realise that. America certaintly isn;t the "hollywood Golden image" some people believe, but it fucking well is one of the fairest and best nations on this damn planet.- not the best (liek i stated before in a post , not going back on myself) - but certainly ONE of the best I just wish its media and individuals would realise what a greta society there are buth culturally and democraticly. If some don;t sya it i will, Thanks America.
  14. Hell yer , the Gym with all those women doing aerobics. [:P
  15. Good reasons - state the obvious! There are other reasons you know, and i think you are slightly wrong - As you can see above, some UK people do not like the alliance with America, and I know a people who can't understand the American view of themselves and view Americans with sceptism. I think that is totally wrong. I think most Americans are fantastic and one of the best civilisations on the planet, and yes i do really liek Americans, But if you wanna be sarcastic then go right ahead. I will still treat you with respect whether you believe this is a dumb questino or not.
  16. Hey! Good to meet you, i hope you had wicked jumps with your Tandems. AFF is wicked, challenging but doable, but really really loveable and great great fun! Go for it! Good luck!
  17. "PLF Landings ... AFF" I fully have to agree - i was told they dont want me to PLF but to run off and stand up. Whys that? If PLF's are such good things, they seem to be in short supply in the UK. Could just be me but they specifically said to run off the landing Mike
  18. Would;nt mind one of those as a ride to the DZ
  19. Fair rnough. If you were the PM, what stance would you take to America then, ignore the war and not take part or help in another way?
  20. I agree with you fully on that. I don't what happaned on this veyr trajic incident but may i offer my sincere condolences to all involved and that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Take Care, mike
  21. You might hate Bush and there are strong arguments for both sides... ... and you might fully disagree with what supporters say, which is cool, - all have our own oppinions. But you might wanna give some consideration at least to the other side like others do - darius/billvon/shropshire who say why they disagree, and not just they disagree- they have proof You seem to be slightly short in your reasons... ... whats the point of a bland statement - its worthless. IF youre gonna slag him off, fair enough, but at leats do it with reason and evidence. I hope thats fair.
