Screwed up, man! Some animal-rights group broke into a mink ranch not far from where I live and released most of the furry little critters - And most of them died shortly thereafter because they're not equipped to survive in the open. That made total sense, eh? I belong to PETA, too - People Eating Tasty Animals I think I'll have a nice, fat juicy hamburger for lunch, and I'll have the veal parmesian for dinner tonite. I made my hotel reservations just a few days ago. I'll be bringing a case to the tent, too. See ya there. Easy Does It

1 tandem just to find out what all the excitement was about, then went on to S/L mostly because it was more jumps for the buck. I think the biggest advantage to S/L is that you get more canopy experience early on. I finished the program in about 20 or so jumps, and was ready for my A shortly thereafter. Easy Does It

Why not check with your rigger? I'm sure he/she can help out, and probably quite inexpensively, too. (and if it's a rigger you use all the time, maybe even free or a couple six-packs-) Easy Does It

Yee Haww! Me too! 0:1:0 One jump is better than no jump, even if it's borrowed gear! (Thanks and a tip o'the lid to Plummet!) I have to do something to change the first digit - Any takers? Easy Does It

I pack my own- for two reaasons - One, I canonly blame myself for a mal due to poor packing, and Two - I would rather spend the five bucks on beer or more jumps. Plus if I pack my own I can usually make every other load. (but it sure doesn't leave much tiime for dirt diving!) Easy Does It

You should be able to find a VCR at a yard sale for about 20 bucks anymore- Easy Does It

Disclaimer - This does not neccesarily reflect my personal opinion- Just tought I'd share- "DO NOT FORGET" I sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," asked myself, "Why didn't the Jews fight back?" Now I know why. I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why weren't we prepared?" Now I know why. Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people. On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors. On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to the dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of the rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to understand the motivation of the perpetrators. Major television stations have announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers. I will not be manipulated. I will not pretend to understand. I will not forget. I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick our country when it was vulnerable and hurting. I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush's address to the nation with the snide remark, "No matter how you feel about him, he is still our president." I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President Bush's motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and commented, "We're all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington." And I will not forget that ABC's Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren't informed of every little detail of this war, they aren't "likely-nor should they be expected-to show deference." I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America. I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and their supporters with the world's most sophisticated telecommunications equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America's ability to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem communications. I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those perfected by the previous administration. I will not be comforted by "feel-good, do nothing" regulations like the silly "Have your bags been under your control?" question at the airport. I will not be influenced by so called, "antiwar demonstrators" who exploit the right of expression to chant anti-American obscenities. I will not forget the moral victory handed the North Vietnamese by American war protesters who reviled and spat upon the returning soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines. I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose reassurance over reality. I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told Labor Party conference, "They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it? There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be defeated by it. And defeat it we must!" I will force myself to: -hear the weeping -feel the helplessness -imagine the terror -sense the panic -smell the burning flesh -experience the loss -remember the hatred. I sat in a movie theater, watching "Private Ryan" and asked myself, "Where did they find the courage?" Now I know. We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living. -- Ed Evans, MGySgt., USMC (Ret.) Not as lean, Not as mean, But still a Marine.

Jump number 60 - crossed line groups (don't ask me how -)causing a low-speed spin - not controllable. Cut, reserve, see the freebag- see the main, both coming down in the clear, cool, first jump of the day - DAMN! I'm buying beer and it ain't even 11:00 yet! No RSL. Easy Does It

I flew on an eticket last month- All I needed was my drivers' license and a credit card- I just went inside to the kiosk then checked my bags- No sweat. (O'Hare-) Then I slammed three expensive but very tasty Bloody Marys and slept through takeoff and all but the last ten minutes of the flight. Landing in an airplane sucks. Easy Does It

NBC, CBS, and NPR - I have more faith in the objectivity of NPR than any other source. But I do detect a hint of liberal - CNN seem way liberal to me- Easy Does It

Well, the little lady discussed evereything- And it was really pleasant, too - With all our plans for the year, flying to NY for Easter, plus three road trips, and moving my daughter Sarah out here from NY, I had to make a choice - California or WFFC. Well, that was a tough choice- And I've opted for Rantoul. Hopefully we'll meet LOTS of DZ.commers! See you in a couple weeks! Easy Does It

Should U.S. Troops be removed from around the world?
Dumpster replied to Gravitymaster's topic in The Bonfire
It's funny you should mention the F-15s in Iceland - They are assigned to the 57 Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. Thier mission is to intercept and escort Russian/former Soviet aircraft as they fly through that particular corridor. The Navy also has P-3 Orion sub-hunting aircraft stationed there, and the AF keeps one or two AWACS handy, also. The local Icelandics are grateful for the seach-and rescue teams, who are often called upon to assist local fishermen. Look on the map, and you can see it is a very strategic location, one the Russians would love to have, particularly during the Cold War. We keep few radar stations running up that way, also, for obvious reasons. How do I know all this? I was once a member of the 57th, the Black Knights. Still have my squadron patch! I was there from 82-83, Cold War era, when we were still flying F-4E models. Easy Does It -
Should U.S. Troops be removed from around the world?

All boobies aside, the point you made is good. Our mere presence, wether force is used or not, keeps the general peace in alot of regions, just like a police car sitting by the side of the road keeps (most) people from speeding. It also allows us to respond more quickly to regional conflicts, and to reinforce the military of certain countries. Easy Does It -

Hey Lady, Where in Cali are you going to be? If I play my cards right I might be out there for a long weekend- Easy Does It

Sebazz you ROCK! I think I have the little lady in agreement to let fly out! (I need one more day to make sure "yes" doesn't really mean "no" - Know what I mean, guys?) Airfare should be about 170 to San Jose, I figure about 200 bones for jumps, (More if I can swing it- You can never have too much jump money) and 100-150 for "incidentals". (read - BEER!) So, for about 500 - 550 bones, Dumpster gets a nice vacation. It's 1 degree F here. Tomorrows' high won't even break 20. I think I'll spend the night tonite figuring how to come up with the $$ and studying for my C exam - Cabin fever SUCKS! But Skydivers ROCK! Easy Does It

It got up to the low 30's today - like 32 maybe- (f) This week the lows are supposed to be in the teens, highs in the upper 20's to low 30's - Just enough to make it miserable, but not super cold - (zero and below-) It still sucks- I'm pricing tickets to San Fran, San Jose, and Oakland, with Jose as first choice, I think Sebazz prefers it- If I can swing it, Dumpster may be going to Cali!
