Congrats, kudos for all the hard work that really paid off! Enjoy the boogie, and the King Air. -Lenny Easy Does It

Unless I missed it, seems late! 1:O:1 Case of beer for my C license! No jumping due to high winds and generally suck-ass weather, but my card came in Saturday's mail. C-33359. Got the engine running for my son's mini-bike, too! IT SCREAMS! (no governor-) Sad to hear about Holli - she'll be missed. Blue ones. Easy Does It

You may want to bring a bottle of rewetting drops with you to the DZ- I find that my eyes sometimes get dried out. Easy Does It

Every once in a while I do, In our R&D office area. I get lots of spectators and even more questions, from guys with Ph.ds, no less. It amazes me how difficult explaining a reletively simple mechanism can be to a person with that much knowedge crammed into thier skull. Easy Does It

Things happen, man- I had a brake pop on me just this past Satuday - and I packed myself. Open right into a spin - No line twist and I was able to release the other brake right away, but it just goes to show you sometimes shit just happens. So take it easy, buy the man a case of beer, and then help him drink it. By the time you two are 2/3 through it, you'll both feel much better. Easy Does It

0:4:1 Really gotta start working on that first number- - posting 0 is starting to get old--- It's great having people like Ladyskydiver and ZeroG on your team! You girls ROCK! Beers for our first team dive- Many more to come! Blues, everyone! Easy Does It

I've been driving for about 25 years in several different states- Seems like I get stopped aboout once a year, either for something minor or "routine" or at times I just plain get busted pushing my luck, like when I was driving well over 90 mph in a 55 zone. I definitely deserved that ticket! Easy Does It

I have never met a single person who said they were never scared. Oh hell- Fear in the door? Hell yeah-Actually, on first jump, once I began climbing out on the strut (S/L student here) I think the fear was replaced by focus on the task at hand. Didn't have time to be scared. On many jumps I got really nervous. I would ask myself "Why the hell am I putting myself through this?" after the jump, I realize why I do it, whooop and holler, and manifest for the next load. I still get a little nervous, but no biggie. Easy Does It

Student Rigs...how long do people normally use them?
Dumpster replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I took out a personal loan and purchased my rig (used) as soon as I could after getting off student status. The DZ here charges 20 bones/jump to rent gear, 15 if you repack it yourself (which I always did-) and students transistioning from the big stuff get priority. The payments were about $125/month, or eight jumps (give or take - ). No-brainer, seeing as I usually do at least 10-20 jumps a month minimum. I would rather pay on my own gear than pay the DZ. The rest of my gear, jumpsuit, helmet, etc - I paid cash for. Saved up my nickels and dimes and still do, as well as scrapping from the shop. Easy Does It -
DSL at home - I never really paid attention to the exact speed, but it's plenty fast. almost as fast as the T-1 at work. I'm content, at least for the time being. Easy Does It

0:0:0 Weathered out Saturday, and the winds were just a little too unpredictable for our group today, so we talked and went out for Mexican. (Myself, Ladyskydiver, Zero-G and John, our mentor-) Zero-G took some pics of me in the new (BEER!) jumpsuit, hopefully I'll get the film developed in the near future and post one or two. Psychopack it. If you do a search, there's a link somewhere that'll give you step-by-step instructions. Or, there's a neat trick that involves a five-dollar bill, and the canopy seems like it packs itself--- If you do a search you'll find a ton of stuff, I'm sure. Edited to include: www.brentfinley.com - has a link to some ZP packing tips that may be helpful. Easy Does It

It's the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on. (and even the clothing is optional)

1. Buy a case of beer. 2. Post pics. 3. After the first two steps are followed, present a $5.00 bill to the right person, and the chute will seem to pack itself! Edited to include my congradulations!

Everyone in our house has one, but mine is FREE - provided by my employer - The plan includes free nationwide long-distance, so even when I call my kids in NY from the DZ in Wisconsin, the boss doesn't pay a dime. Pretty sweet! Although sometimes I still refer to it as my electronic leash - when the production crew has a breakdown at 2 AM. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!! Easy Does It

I wanted to build a couple bat-houses for the yard here, to help control the skeeters in the summer- (we live near a river-) The project got scrapped when Sharon found out what they were for. The wife hates bats- I love watching them gobble up bugs, and they're alot better than chemical warfare. Easy Does It

2:0:0 1 leaky sink drain repaired 1 sick wife nursed all weekend Sharon came down with some flu bug that had her in bed all weekend. Stomach, aches all over, the whole nine yards. Took the time to get the sink fixed, while she rested. Actually, not a bad weekend. Until I found out about my hotel reservations for Rantoul - But that's another post- Easy Does It

Easy? Not if you knew where I'm coming from- I'm a vet, and my service time included Desert Storm and the Bosnian conflict. (Not too many people remember or even knew about that one-) I've got 18 and 15 yr old daughters and an eleven year old son. My Dad was drafted for WW II There are plenty of reserves left to draw on, then they would start recalling folks recently separated. (inactive reserve-) We're all a little nervous - One thing to keep in mind, is our all-volunteer military. There would be plenty of volunteers before Uncle Sam had to start pulling people off the streets. I'm not denying the possibility, just that it doesn'r seem likely. There hasn't even been the smallest mention of it that I know of.

Don't get your shorts in a bunch- Things would have to get very, very ugly before the draft would get started up again. Easy Does It
