I don't see it as so. Oh well. I've been accused of thinking too critically about things. And I wasn't fooled by your witty subliminal message! Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

In this context, the two words are interchangeable. Might you be thinking of a nationalized economy, ie. socialism? That would be different than patriotism. Or how about how we don't care about any suffering nations that don't have oil? Do you really believe we would be fighting in the middle east if they exported bananas insteadf of oil? Be realistic. We used to be taught to fear the commies, but now we are taught to fear the terrorists. How has our involvement in Iraq affected the rate of terrorism worldwide? It has done nothing but magnify the problem. The anti-terrorism is just another way to indoctrine people to be intolerant of difference, ie. nationalism. You have seen the increase in military spending over the past couple of years, right? You've been awake? You want to deny things don't exist if they don't exist in the extreme. No, our entire economy is not yet geared toward the war machine. Refer to above comment about extremes. What's the male:female ratio in Congress? Cabinet? Supreme Court? Because, when I go out and about, they appear to make up about half the population. Freedom of the press doesn't mean much if the media has few players. Corporations are not known for being objective, or responsible. And anything else is automatically labeled as "liberal press." Sorry, objective reporting, although it is not lost, as been so thouroughly mixed with propaganda that it is often very difficult to distinguish between the two. And what was that "terrorist link" to Iraq again? Why are we there? What threat was posed? Oh, I'm sorry. Those questions have already been avoided. Again, you are trying to imply that everything has to be a carbon copy of a previous fascist regime. Just a little while ago you were complaining about how Europe sat back and let Hitler come to power. Now, a similar thing happens in America, but in a distinctly American way, and you want to sit back and allow it. Do you realize how many corporate tax loopholes there actually are? It is difficult for me to distinguish between the Bus fans and the Christian Right. Did you need to see the knots? I think the guy was using "tied" metaphorically Apples and apple blossoms. Or if one doesn't try to put a a pro America spin on things. I'm not minimizing America's contributions. But I'm not going to exaggerate them, either. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I agree, but we don'y usually have the luxury of making that academic distinction in the real world. One affects the other. There's no way to get around that. It isn't a black and white world. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Aside from all the commercialization and shopping crowds with associated traffic, I don't think anyone minds that Christians have their very own version of this ancient holiday celebration. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I don't think the two are seperable. We rarely get to distinguish when we vote. Besides, aren't social issues abroad a part of our foreign policy, ie. promoting democracy and human rights abroad, AIDS research? Poor economic policies cause social problems, so isn't that really a social issue? The patriot act was implemented for national security reasons, but it curtails civil liberties, so I would consider that a social issue. I'm not seeing your distinction. Math tutoring available. Or, another way of looking at it would be that America sat back and watched, and at times profited from, the rise of the Third Reich, until additional intervention was necessary to save our own skin. We were reluctant teammates at best, from a strictly political standpoint. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I think of it like Michael Badnirik said in his Constitution class. There are four directions: One way wants to control your money, but allow you to think for yourself, which tend to be your liberals The opposite direction wants you to spend your own money, but they want to tell you how to think. These are your Conservatives. A third direction wants to spend your money for you, and tell you how to think. These are the fascists, and similar type governments. A fourth direction wants you to spend your own money and think for yourself, which is what the Libertarians claim to do. Nothing says that a political party has to go in only one of these directions, their is area in between like walking NE. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

We installed him as second in command. To be surprised that he murdered his way to number one is rather incredulous, if you ask me. He was, after all, a politically motivated murderer, even then. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Then why hasn't it worked? It is not a sound economic theory. If you give an impoverished person $1.00, odds are very high that person is going to spend all of that money, putting $100 back into the economy. The next person to get that dollar will likely spend a large portion, as well, if not all of it, continuing down the line, until the rich man finally gets his profit. If you start by giving that same dollar to a rich man, right off the bat, he is going to save a percentage of it in a cash based fund, in all likelihood. Of course, some if it will be spent and invested, but there is going to be a cut taken out. This cut does not go back into the economy. By the time the dollar makes it to a payroll account it ammounts to only a few cents, slowing down economic growth, compared to giving the money directly to the impoverished individual. This can be demonstrated with Calculus, but I know how you feel about Mathematics, Ron. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

What is BS is being accused of not having any pride in America, just because one dissents. IMO a dissenter is doing his/her country a far greater sevice than a blindly patriotic citizen. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I you would cease with your overgeneralizations, you might realize that no one has claimed to hate everything America stands for. Some people simply refuse to be blindly patriotic when they understand that their government is not operating justly. That is in no way hatred of country. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! . Here is your quote, unless someone is posting on your identity: "Much like saying you shouldn't be proud of your child because they occasionally make mistakes even though overall they turned out ok. Tell that to a parent. I think you guys are taking the word 'pride' to something unhealthy and wierd' I don't think it was a low or dirty trick at all. As for being an angry person, well, I'll just dismiss that as a reckless personal attack. You obviously do not know me or you would know how comical your statement is Math tutoring available. Switzerland remained neutral during WWII. They have a better education system than we do. It stands to reason that I would be more likely to find an honest, unbiased account in one of their books, as opposed to a history book from America, Japan, or Germany, who were all involved in the war, and thus are likely to have added a propaganda spin to their history books. In the US Army I was in, commanders are responsible for the actions of their subordinates. That's just the way the military works. If there were isolated incidents of abuse, it would be one thing (still not a good thing), but it wasn't isolated. Rummy failed to stop it. Or, less qualified, Rummy failed. It's time for him to go.
